this is so bloody brilliant I can’t stop watching it. Andrew Scott is already an exceptional actor, but he really takes it to the next level in this. I’m so soooo damn excited for the theatre release! The man ages like fine wine - only getting better and better every single damn time. MOST underrated actor of our times, honestly. He’s a wonder to behold and I just can’t stop watching how he delicately plays around with emotions. It’s a feast for the eyes.

Wonderful voices. But I must confess I far prefer the version done with Donald Sinden in '81, I think. There is the clown about this, which might be fun to watch for the actors, but this brief snatch doesn't seem very Coward to me.
"Don't say righteo" is an outrageous steal from Brideshead Revisited..
Brideshead was written in 1944. Present Laughter was written by Noel Coward in 1939.
Anyone else getting Rik Myall vibes from Andrew's performance?
Yeah, I could see him on entry, as he holds in his laughter at the audience's whooping and hollering reception, and then says "Eddie"...again trying to hold in his laughter as the crowd go wild. 😁

just me that prefers kline...? i often really enjoy andrew scott but he just doesn't have the same kind of technique that makes a play like this really sing. super apparent in his hamlet which everyone else falls over for...he's very good and imaginative most of the time i just get distracted and taken out of the performance by the nonlinear formlessness of his style...it's kinda dazzling but not as masterful as he could be if he wanted to
