I found your discussion super interesting! I am seeking books on ADHD that give an alternative to medical treatment (although I’m not ruling it out completely) and Scattered Minds sounds very good, definitely going to check it out!
I've been reading a few books abt trauma and treatment as well, and basically every professional in the field is like yeah if we address child ab*se and childhood attachment issues, we would cut addictions / DV / substance use / SA and other traumatic incidents in half. also adhd is typically diagnosed MUCH latter in people who are femme lol.
yup it's really sad if you think about it. we could put all that money that goes into incarcerating people into actually helping them heal and get better, but we choose not to. also, I feel like the drugs are pushed due to like, big pharma and capitalism (at the risk of sounding like a totally stereotypical hippie conspiracist here 😆). yeah, I noticed quite a few ADHD women following me online and I seemed to like and get along with all of them quite well and then reading this I was like "OOP might not be coincidence..." 😳 funny part is I never even realized how "fast" my brain was going til it slowed down a bit.... explains SO much 😭
