same problem!!! couldnt open the van, all doors deadlocked so no keys working. RAC got me into the van.....got under the seat, wire completely corroded. Thanks for this video, fixed in 10 minutes FOC!!!
Stopping by to say that this fixed my central locking issue too. German engineering at its finest! A bodged wire right out of the factory! Just got to figure out the alarm and auto lock situation now! Cheers mate.
Just begun this nightmare of a job today... I also found green stain on the tape, so started investigating that area first. Found a blue and red power wire had swelled in one place so cut that section out, slicing open the wire's casing and most of the copper strands had corroded to green dust! Stripped back each end to fresh copper and used a quick joining block, tested, but typically issue still remained :/ Peeled back more loom tape revealing the wire to the seat-end connectors and discovered a join that had been done with different wire, but also had that silly short wire that doesn't go anywhere. Could be a possible repair from when the previous owner had the van new for 5 years prior to myself, but find that unlikely. Anyway one side of that section looks as though green dust has formed within beneath the thick transparent heat shrink that was used. Looks as though they did a good job really tbf, it all looks very well sealed. Never the less, cut that 4 inch section out, again prepared and joined the wires -Guess what... Still same issue, of passenger door knob not always going up, central locking being a pain by always locking as soon as you try opening it -Even struggle getting in there by twisting the key -You got to almost fight it and be one step ahead, quickly using the handle to get in. Also sliding door light has been staying on for like an hour before it decides to go off. Comfort module and connectors are in good condition with no corrosion, but I have cleaned the terminals anyway. I will take the passenger seat and front mat out tomorrow and investigate that particular wire and other further along the loom towards the centre of the van -Pain in the ass when you think you just found the issue and on it goes :(
Sadly did not work for me I connected every thing back up with blocks just in case and nope not worked. You'll be glad to hear I went back and had a second go. It is very important to remove any corrosion from the plugs both male and female. I used my wife's tooth brush to remove this lots and lots of white lumps came out and it worked perfectly. Thank you and my wife's tooth brush so much for making my life that little bit better. One down side the van now locks it's self with in minuets of being opened so make sure not to leave the keys inside or buy a set of rakes and always have them in your pocket or hidden on the out side of the van.
This is my issue too. And constantly locking whilst driving or even parked -At least it don't open all the time I guess! -Ah wait, also the passenger door knob doesn't always pop up. Did you ever resolve your problem by any chance?
Great video! Changed my leisure battery then the central locking wouldn't work, after some scary quotes from garages I found this vid! Problem sorted 👌
Excellent video. I've already had this problem, my sliding door lock failed, and i saw someone else on the T4/5 forum, showing the same corroded area, so why not post this video there. It is good to see the seat bases right out. My problem is once again the sliding door lock is working intermittently, so I might need to repeat the exercise, and do it all again. I must say I used connectors and probably should have done it properly just like yours. But thanks for the video anyway.
Hey mate. Glad you hear you did originally fix it. I’m not on the Forums so if you would like to post it or share it that would be great so it can help as many people as possible. I think it definitely is best to solder and heat shrink if you can. Let me know how you get on

Hi enjoyed you video I had a mad fault which meant that the central locking self - activated. Turned out to be the central locking switch on the drivers door at the window. probably due to rain getting in when window left open. One of the tracks on the little circuit board that the switch is mounted to was corroded. The through hole plating was open circuit.Just soldered a bridging wire and re-assembled. lot of hassle though and now my drivers door gap is slightly wide where I had to squeeze in a wire with a hook to grab keys when all locked up.
