I’m glad that you caught how it would still glow even if it was made of cheese. Rocks don’t glow, but they do reflect the incredibly bright sunlight towards the Earth. In fact, I think that the moon would be even brighter if it were actually made of cheese.
the craters on the moon used to be a bit deeper during the heavy bombardment but each impact dispersed some of the moon sediment into the previous craters and filled them in partially. (and since the impacts increased the temperature so much, it was easier to move the molten rock.)

My favorite conspiracy about the moon i learned from the claymation movie, Wallace and Grommet. I see why you needed to get another editor/producer for your channels, the amount of memes and visuals Jen tossed in here must've taken forever to do
As someone with my own business and lab, who works in photonics daily… I can assure you that if we had lasers and projection equipment advance enough to project the moon as a hologram… A lot of things would have already changed and happened. Like sending a late sale out of our solar system, all nuke and weapon interceptors would be high-powered lasers, and thousands upon thousands of things in the manufacturing and medical fields that are way too complex to describe. The inverse square law is a real thing… So the lasers and projection shit is totally BS. But as much as I curse the inverse square law… We need to be thankful… If it wasn’t for the inverse square law the smallest piece of plutonium halfway across the world would be just as strong for us as it is for the person standing next to it
fun fact “ye” in old timey english was pronounced like modern “the”. it’s a relic from the awkward time when english still used Þ and ð and the printing press, which did not have these characters, was getting pretty popular. “y” was used as a compromise for a while before english ditched its runic letters and made “th” a thing.
Yes, as in “ye (the) olde inn”- but in this case, it is actually ye, as in you. “You fetch” and “you have made” make sense, “the fetch” and “the have made” don’t.
@@UnicornsPoopRainbows yes! the “long S” is an archaic letter that was used alongside the regular S in certain words until the early 19th century, it does look similar to a lowercase f in some typographies. fun fact: it’s related to the german letter eszett [ß] which looks much like a B.

Hey Simon I just wanna tell you that I did watch Wallace and Gromit as a kid in America. Yes the show is a banger and yes more American kids should watch it.
I recently heard that fruit of the loom got in on the April fools jokes with a Mandela effect….everyone remembers their logo having a Cornucopia behind the fruit so for April 1st they made their website have one to mess with people, so I guess now their logo really DID have one but only recently and I’m sure not many people would randomly look on their website to see it on that certain day
That’s awesome! I don’t believe in the Mandela effect, but I admit I probably would have believed I remembered it if someone just mentioned FOTL used to have a cornucopia in their logo - I can easily visualize it. It’s so strange how the human mind works/can be so easily misled.
I have rather mixed feelings about conspiracy theories/theorists. On one hand I don't understand why some people fixate on something highly unlikely, manufacture 'evidence' and then attack those who aren't persuaded by their 'logic' - when governments/state institutions are blatantly doing many awful things without adopting even a veneer of secrecy. Why not ask questions about homelessness, climate change, poverty or hunger? However, I think that 'conspiracy theorist' is a useful negative label for government to apply when discrediting those who ask legitimate but uncomfortable questions about the abuse of power. Ultimately though, I'm here to talk about those blue, one-horned goats on the moon. I am a genuine, real-life goat-keeper and as such believe I am qualified to posit this 'theory' as entirely possible - in fact, as I actually have goats, I'm rather OVER-qualified compared to some conspiracy theorists. I also have a one-horned goat - called Gonzo - who, admittedly, is brown rather than blue but, in the interest of adding a bit of confirmation bias into the mix, he identifies as 'blue' (if not physically then metaphorically) being nicknamed 'Eeyore' for his striking resemblance to the character and good line in existential angst! I also have a friend and fellow goat-keeper who, as a bit of a giggle, posted an advert on goat forum for some kids she had for sale and, after giving all the important information, ended the ad with: "Would make great astronauts". She had more calls about those kids than she ever did for previous ads, leading me to believe that it was various government agencies trying to recruit new goats for the moon colony. EVIDENCE, PEOPLE, EVIDENCE! Just making some tin foil horn guards for the goats because their horns pick up alien frequencies. Okay, that's my feeble attempt at satirising about how conspiracy theories build - often from a sound knowledge base or grain of truth - and yet ultimately becoming a tangled mess of paranoia. But seriously, if ever there is an animal suited to the world of conspiracy it is the goat. They conspire - individually and in groups - from the moment they wake to the moment they sleep, and then dream up more conspiracies as they slumber. Their favourite conspiracy is escape from where they should be and accessing where they shouldn't be - and, yes, maybe the moon is a bit far but I wouldn't put anything past them to be honest. The main evidence against blue moon goats being that they haven't been reported elsewhere because they would never have stayed on the bloody moon! Ah, one-horned blue moon goats - they laugh in the face of a Dyson fence!
"There was a man lived in the moon, in the moon, in the moon/There was a man lived in the moon, and his name was Achan Drum/And the moon is made of green cheese, green cheese, green cheese/The moon is made of made of green cheese, and his name was Achan Drum." This merry ditty my kids learned in elementary school was just for fun, not to teach them errors.
Your reading of the old English poem at the beginning was hilarious. You fetch circumstances to make me believe, Or think that that the moon is made of green cheese. And when you have made me a lout, (believer), in all these, It seems you would make me go to bed at noon. Edit. Loved the video. I wish conspiracy theoriests could hear themselves.
Just making sure you do not think this was an Old English poem. Middle English period was 1150-1450. Old English was before that and 1546 is just early modern English. There are a lot of people that think Shakespeare is Old or Middle English as well.
was looking for this comment. when he said old english i expected something much different. he was obviously meaning "old" English but i took him to be claiming, at first that this was "Old English" and got quite confusedd
To translate the poem: You fetch circumquaques (chur-coom-quacks; means something that is round or all round in this case a round or wheel of cheese) to make me believe or think that the moon is made of green cheese. And when you have made me a lout in all these it seems you would be make me go to bed at noon. Basically: You present me with rounds of cheese and point out how they look like the moon, and if I'm dumb enough to believe that, you'll have me going to bed at noon.,
I was crossing my fingers the whole time that the Doctor Who episode would come up; way to get in that last minute reference lmao If anyone’s wondering, the episode in question features the doctor (an alien) putting the onus on his human travel buddy to decide whether they should blow up the obviously-about-to-crack-open moon egg (which would either save the earth and end a species the likes of which was totally unknown), or let it hatch and see what happened. In the interest of a happy ending, of course, humanity ultimately votes (via turning all the lights on the planet on/off) to allow the egg to hatch, a moon dragon thing pops out, and promptly lays another egg to take its place before taking off into outer space. Philosophically interesting episode where almost nothing actually happens 😂
I hated that episode so much that I haven't watched a single episode of Doctor Who ever since. But thank you, I came to the comments to explain the joke and you saved me the time!

It's embarassing and sad knowing someone like that.

Yes Wallace and Gromit did cross the pond! I loved it as a kid. Was always on PBS. Now my 5 yo daughter LOVES Shawn the Sheep and Timmy Time! She even has stuffed of both that make silly sheep sounds 😊
I've mentioned this before. My theory on how some people believe crazy stuff is this: They don't know something so they ask someone older and in charge. Instead of getting someone like my Mom who will freely admit, "I don't know," they'll instead get someone like my Dad who will give you some spur of the moment BS answer. Must be true. Dad says so. 😁
This can also be a cultural thing. In some cultures, it is a blow to your reputation or ego to say you don’t know something. Either the elder or teacher will spout BS or they will just tell you to stop asking questions. Worst case, you get scolded for making them feel bad on top of it.
Let's see. From a NASA web page: "NASA formally opened for business on Oct. 1, 1958." I think the moon was mentioned well before that time. A former friend of mine believes in flat earth conspiracy - and I believe he also voted for the orange clown now living in Mar A Lago. It all adds up when you think about it.
Wallace and Gromit did at least cross the pond on the other side to Scandinavia & absolutely loved that show, interesting fact the episode “A nice day out” accidentally saved the cheese company. The creator just loved how winsdale (or how you now spell it) made Wallace’s face look🤗👍

Wallace and Grommit crossed the pond. I remember seeing that for the first time when i was really young, and to this day there's times where i can't help but exclaim "CheeEese, Grommit!" (Especially working in restaurants 🤣)
Man, this made me want some good cheese...but not the hard cheeses (swiss might be an exception). Roasted Gruyere with some bread... And yes, Wallace and Gromit made it across the pond. Wonderful show, and I remember that episode when they went to the moon. British humor is the best, honestly. As a scientist, I really loved the mindset that something can be proven to be different than we have concluded that you portrayed. This is the mindset that really makes me hate any kind of conspiracy, and even those people that delve into the unsaid/"implied" parts of movie/TV/animation stories. All information should have the potential to change, even if we have current, measured proof on things. I always use the idea that unicorns could exist...no, this doesn't mean I believe they do, but there is always that potential that we could discover something one day that says otherwise. Keeping an open mind on all information is important, I believe. It makes us divert acting like we have a stick up our ass all the time.

as a little kid in Texas nothing was more exciting to me than when my parents would put on the VHS tape of Wallace and Gromit on the big tv in the living room. Even now 20 years later my parents and i can still hum the intro tune lol
The Moon is actually a reflection of Simon's head off of swamp gas in the upper atmosphere.
I’m glad that you caught how it would still glow even if it was made of cheese. Rocks don’t glow, but they do reflect the incredibly bright sunlight towards the Earth. In fact, I think that the moon would be even brighter if it were actually made of cheese.
“Maybe her TV was black and white” is the straight up funniest thing I’ve heard on UA-cam for ages.
the craters on the moon used to be a bit deeper during the heavy bombardment but each impact dispersed some of the moon sediment into the previous craters and filled them in partially. (and since the impacts increased the temperature so much, it was easier to move the molten rock.)
A video about conspiracies that have been proven true sounds fun!
Does he have an MK-ultra video? That would be an amazing topic.
There are some on brain blaze
8:22 "You use roundabout speech to convince me that the moon is made of green cheese. And once you have me fooled, it seems you would make me go to bed at noon." (a reference to the Fool's exit line in "King Lear")

I love Jen's editing.
I bought Wenslydale with cranberries at Christmas and Wenslydale with strawberries and procecco at valentines day. 🙂🇨🇦
Oooh where'd you get the strawberry one? I love the cramberry one, I definitely wanna try it!
@@irishwristwatch2487 I got them at an IGA. In Alberta, Canada. The strawberry one is heart shaped with pink wax coating.
Reminds me of the time when on a trip the recommendations were to bring lots of mosquito repellent and flys water, took me a moment 😊.
Great episode Katy and Jens music and memes and thank you too Simon, as always, for keeping me entertained !
"Morning brew" is how to say good morning in New Zealand :D
But as much as I curse the inverse square law… We need to be thankful… If it wasn’t for the inverse square law the smallest piece of plutonium halfway across the world would be just as strong for us as it is for the person standing next to it
I love Wallace and gromit, so did my kids, curse of the were-rabbit is probably our favorite one.🐰🥕
fun fact “ye” in old timey english was pronounced like modern “the”. it’s a relic from the awkward time when english still used Þ and ð and the printing press, which did not have these characters, was getting pretty popular. “y” was used as a compromise for a while before english ditched its runic letters and made “th” a thing.
Isn’t there something about how a fancy “f” looking letter also was actually an “s”?
Yes, as in “ye (the) olde inn”- but in this case, it is actually ye, as in you. “You fetch” and “you have made” make sense, “the fetch” and “the have made” don’t.
@@UnicornsPoopRainbows yes! the “long S” is an archaic letter that was used alongside the regular S in certain words until the early 19th century, it does look similar to a lowercase f in some typographies. fun fact: it’s related to the german letter eszett [ß] which looks much like a B.
@@tired1923 Did you mean the early 20th century?
@@tubensalat1453 I didn’t, is that not when it fell out of use in English?
godzilla vs kong is only one movie in a whole line of interconnected movies about godzilla AND kong with origin movies about both.
they all were pretty good, too.
Entertaining on so many levels!!!
We need more like this! Simon's reactions and rhetoric are pricelesa!!!
In Canada, we got Curse of The WereRabbit. I remember it being cheeky, imaginative and well acted.
I've always wondered if the Were Rabbit is a distant relative of the jackalope.
We had all the others as well, that movie is just the most recent.
I loved Bunacula
Iron Sky was such a brilliant movie.. I remember stumbling on it years ago and loved it! Laughed NY ass off... haven't watched the sequel yet tho.
A Grand Day Out: in which Wallace & Gromit (mostly Gromit) build a rocket and visit the moon.
Our favorite is A Matter of Loaf and Death.
Yes, Simon, "A Grand Day Out" & all the other Wallace & Gromit animations did cross the pond, along with the spin-off Sean the Sheep. Aardman rocks!
Its a conspiracy I tell you. The moon is not made of cheese, but there are little rabbits preparing the moon for us to escape earth when it blows up
I totally cracked up at "Is the moon even real?" My hubby's run into folks who really are in denial THAT badly. LOL
Wallace and Gromit did indeed make it! I've only seen three different ones but they're frickin' wonderful shows.
I've always been intrigued by conspiracies and how people believe what they do. This was a fun one!
I've learned not to base my film watching habits on reviews. People have different taste in movies. One man's trash is another man's treasure, as they say.
Lots of really fun films, esp genre films (Horror, exploitation, action, etc) have low IMDB ratings.
@@robertstuart480 For sure. I've watched and enjoyed so many movies that have low IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes ratings.
I agree!
Love this :)
Wallace and Gromet did make it over the pond and I love that show. Simon just showed a smooth brain moment because we live in the milky way.
Your reading of the old English poem at the beginning was hilarious.
You fetch circumstances to make me believe,
Or think that that the moon is made of green cheese.
And when you have made me a lout, (believer), in all these,
It seems you would make me go to bed at noon.
Edit. Loved the video. I wish conspiracy theoriests could hear themselves.
Thanks!
Just making sure you do not think this was an Old English poem. Middle English period was 1150-1450. Old English was before that and 1546 is just early modern English. There are a lot of people that think Shakespeare is Old or Middle English as well.
@@dewilton7712 Yeah, I know. Cheers. :) I love the words they used. It shows how English has evolved over the last few centuries.
Simon's version was better 😁
was looking for this comment. when he said old english i expected something much different.
he was obviously meaning "old" English but i took him to be claiming, at first that this was "Old English" and got quite confusedd
I got to watching decoding the unknown so much I am way behind in brain blaze
This one was a lot of fun - I love listening to conspiracy theory stuff, just to make fun of it. I love having a channel with the best of both!
The edit during Nihilism SLAYED me. Thank you Jen.
To translate the poem:
You fetch circumquaques (chur-coom-quacks; means something that is round or all round in this case a round or wheel of cheese) to make me believe or think that the moon is made of green cheese.
And when you have made me a lout in all these it seems you would be make me go to bed at noon.
Basically: You present me with rounds of cheese and point out how they look like the moon, and if I'm dumb enough to believe that, you'll have me going to bed at noon.,
There's a lot more silliness surrounding the moon than what you covered here. we need a part two to this
I was crossing my fingers the whole time that the Doctor Who episode would come up; way to get in that last minute reference lmao
If anyone’s wondering, the episode in question features the doctor (an alien) putting the onus on his human travel buddy to decide whether they should blow up the obviously-about-to-crack-open moon egg (which would either save the earth and end a species the likes of which was totally unknown), or let it hatch and see what happened.
@@sabrinaschell4938 ouch, that’s too bad! There were some genuinely great ones after that. Sadly, if you consider the mark of a well-done episode to include: 1) characters/acting, 2) plot line, and 3) good writing, many of the episodes I like best after that point are lacking in at least one of those areas 🤦🏻♀️
There was a Casper the Friendly ghost cartoon that had moon people. They like, captured Casper and stuff.
Yes it definitely crossed the pond and I loved watching them as a kid. They also came out with a bunny themed movie and it was awesome
5:35 yes, Simon, we had Wallace and Grommet here too. C’mon Fact Boi! 😂
Simon: “I don’t like people who call you a sheep for believing the official story.”
Also Simon: “People who believe in ghosts and god are such sheep.”
(I jest, I love your absolute mockery. Just felt like stoking the fire, lol. 😆)
Also Simon: Give me the blue pill and harvest my energy so I can eat steak.
He's a confused human being
He needs to open his mind just a bit we only know what we are told , he needs to open his mind david icke is a legend
I mean, you’re not wrong. I really don’t care what people do with their lives, as a Christian, myself, I believe the free will of others should be respected. Just kinda sucks when the only thing I have that’s getting me through life is constant being compared to someone saying unicorns are real, which gives them no real benefit in believing.
Those two statements match perfectly though...he doesn't like people calling you a sheep for believing the most evidently accurate information and doesn't like people who believe in things with absolutely zero evidence.
@@mikhailnikolaev7813 what's confusing about him not wanting to live in a dystopian world full of depressing shit where humans are used as batteries and where the unlocked ones are constantly chased by killing machines and preferring a perfect simulation of the world he lives in currently and enjoys?
I love the music and graphics for Simon's tangent around the 34 minute mark ‼️ 😂
This episode is do funny I had to turn it off, so I wouldn't wake up my kid by laughing out loud. I'll have to rewatch it later.
Honestly love this channel, you should do a video on Banksy, would be cool to hear your take on the mystery!
Dont knock Jen's editing she does a wonderful job creating an atmosphere or setting the tone for each video
And his response to her writing is epic at times!
Loving the videos, and yes the earliest doctor who episodes were in black and white. There are even some 'lost' episodes because the BBC at the time used to record over their film due to the cost of it.
Funny for a while when i was a kid i thought the moon was cheese because of cartoons. Lol. Also i just love reading conspiracy theories cause they're just so bizarre and hilarious sometimes.
What's going on factboy love your show !!!! South Texas here and yes we got the awesome Wallace and Gromit: Curse of tha Were-rabbit love those shorts and your tangent
Time lol
If the moon was made from stale old cheese, how far away from it would you need to be to not get completely overpowered by the rancid smell?
Wallace and Gromit definitely made it across the pond! I loved watching them when I was younger. When I was a young adult I bought the entire collection. And just yesterday I watched 'Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit'.
I love conspiracy theories, I once saw someone who claimed that JFK got killed because he found out that space was fake. I mean why not? My favorite one is the one that says that all theories are true, at once.
How do you know that Nazis DONT live in the hollow, flat, and second fake earth while also living in the hollow center of the cheesy moon projection that mankind never made it too???? The logic is ironclad and seamless!!!! 😉
simon does a great job being in charge. he's "the big cheese" lol
Yes, Wallace and Grommet are fairly well known here. The same studio did Chicken Run which was pretty popular here and I loved because it had Julia Sawalha from Ab Fab
Does anyone remember the mini games on the DVD version of 90's and early 2000's cartoon movies?? The Wallace and grommet one was hilarious. And the ps2 game was great.
I LOVE conspiracy theories _because_ they're 99% nonsense. I agree about conspiracy theorists though. My uncle is one and he wrote an entire song about how ignorant he is about GMOs and posted it to UA-cam. It is literally the most cringe thing I have ever heard and he tries to cram this crap down everyone's throats.
I don't talk to him much anymore because of it.
Damn bro. I'd like to see this song tbh if you'd like to share. You've got me curious. I get it if it's too embarrassing though. xD

Yes Wallace and Gromit did cross the pond! I loved it as a kid. Was always on PBS. Now my 5 yo daughter LOVES Shawn the Sheep and Timmy Time! She even has stuffed of both that make silly sheep sounds 😊
Love this vid, can we have more vids on similar crazy a** "beliefs" please. These and Simon's rationale are an awesome mix! 👌
Those are some bizzare beliefs about the moon.
Thank you for the video.
Excellent post as always Simon.
Yes, we definitely had Wallace and Gromit here across the pond when it came out, and yes it was indeed awesome.
This video starts of whith Wallace and Gromit and finishes with David Ike and I still found the beginning of the video more factual hahaha
We now know there are two HUGE oceans inside the Earth that hold more water than all the water on the surface of the Earth. We never knew that they existed, or even could exist.
Finally a new script from Katy! Love her scripts
what do you mean "how did the dairy stuff get up there"? earth is literally located in the *milky way* galaxy O_o

My uncle would only play Wallace and Grommet for the kids when we slept over. I miss that.
Why did you pronounce "moone" as "moon" and then "noone" as "no one"?
Yeap, at least noone(noon) kind of makes sense given the context.
I can't handle anything done by Ike.
A footballer, turned psychic, turned conspiracy theorist, turned writer..literally nothing in that CV makes me think "trustworthy"
Wallace and Grommet definitely crossed the pond to Australia, I loved watching it
the name of Uranus is actually funny in German too
Ur means ancient in German and the rest is the same as in english, so it basically can be mispronounced to mean "ancient butt"

6:15 thank you for also pointing out that the glow would still exist was thinking ‘ you’re using that as a reason? Glowing rock?’😂
Friendly reminder on the difference between "theory" and "hypothesis" when discussing sciencey topics and the care needed in how you use the word "theory" there. Love the video though. The snark never gets old 😁
I appreciate when Simon wears a different shirt during ad reads so we can skip and know just when to stop. Of course I watch the ads though 😉
Yesss Simon, Wallace and Grommet is a huge hit in the US and I love it!!
Yes, Fact Boy! We got Wallace and Grommit here in the US. It was mid 90's and I loved it. Great set of movies. I believe there was a short run of syndicated cartoons, also.
As an American watching a British gentleman mocking old English, very entertaining lol. And yes, I watched ole wally as a kid here in Ohio
Great show. Thanks again
I once had a neighbor that said that millions of people were living on the dark side of the moon. He said, with a straight face, "They are sending them there at night so that we don't see it."
