4:05 Takashi Nagasako has also an extensive list of characters in Capcom World beyond Captain Commando, Boman Delgado and Gan Tsuguri. -(Not mentioning)Unknown Soldier for Marvel VS Capcom 1 as a Special Patner. -Captain Silver and Titles Narrator for Battle Circuit. -Shaka and Khan for Jojo's Bizarre Adventure'98. -The First Voice in Duo for Megaman Power Fighters. -Tenguman and Searchman for Megaman 8. -Magma Dragoon and Slash Beast for Megaman X4. -(And at last)The Official Voice of Darun Maister for Street Fighter EX Series AND Arika's Fighting EX Layer. It’s funny how Captain Commando is basically Capcom’s equivalent to Nintendo’s Captain Falcon from the F-Zero series. Much like Commando, Falcon’s existence is more well-known thanks to him being a regular in crossover games, in Falcon’s case being Super Smash Bros. Both series take place in the future, both are crime fighters, and both have Captain in their name lol. I’m honestly glad both crossover series were able to help show the world just how cool both fellow Captains are.
Hell, their peculiar fighting stances are nigh on identical! Would sure love to know what their inspiration was, they've clearly had the same source of influence!
Final Fight's Guy Captain Commando's Ginzu Strider's Strider Hiryu And Street Fighter's Zeku All of them stem from the same fighting lineage. Which makes this the sickest Capcom lore we have.
Don’t forget about C.Viper being a huge homage to Captain Commando as well. She has shades, electric punches, and even flaming kicks. Even an alt (SF4 alt 2) costume where she has a star on her chest.
Another small detail to note is his voice lines have been fully redone in MvC2, from his Captain Fire and Kick exclamations sounding more pronounced, to him actually saying the (Japanese, naturally) names of his buds as he summons them with Captain Strike. I always loved that extra attention to detail
I'm really enjoying these analysis! It feels like such a missed opportunity to not have Captain Commando fight Captain Marvel in Infinite (I guess that's not the biggest missed opportunity in that game, but man I want it), hope they bring him back!
The day before I got round to watching this video (I've been binging these) I actually went into my local comic book shop, and found they had the first volume of the captain commando manga, I had no idea at all that there even WAS one
I seriously wish Capcom hired smaller studios to resurrect some of their beat em ups. After the resurrection of Streets of Rage, TMNT and Power Rangers, I can see a decent success for Final Fight and Captain Commando.
definitely one of my mains in MVC1! I was devastated when he didn't make the cut in the MVC3 games, but I understand modders have addressed that oversight. didn't know he had ties to the overall cinematic universe between all the fighting games, but not surprising.
So, I’ve been binging your Capcom vs legacy series and I’d like to make a submission. I’d like you to do Hawkeye. The most underrated avenger in my opinion
This just popped up in my recommended. Really loved the in-depth breakdown of all the small touches with this. Definitely going to binge your backlog when I get the chance.
Actually, the Captain Commando arcade game was 4 players, not 3. The PS1 version (at least the imported version) was 3 players (unless you use a Gameshark to make it 4 players, I don't know). Anyway, that being said, it is great to see a retrospective of the Capcom Vs. series. Can't wait to see more, especially not just from Capcom, but all over the fictional multiverse like Marvel, SNK, Tatsunoko and so forth. Keep up the good work. And speaking of Captain Commando, I got one thing left to say on this retrospective... Captain....SWORDO!!!
Yeah, I messed that one up. What threw me off is that I had a Captain Commando cab not too far from me growing up that was set up for 3 players, despite clearly having 4 player spaces on the cab, and for whatever reason, the Beat em Up Bundle release also defaults to 3 players as well, though you can change that. That said, I do believe there's a two player version of the cabinet as well.
@@TheSeventhForce Oh, yeah. I almost forgot about the 2 player version. I just want to correct you on the actual players on the actual arcade cabinet. That is all. Other than that, everything else in this retrospective is spot on. 😉
@@CaravanNoobs Phoenix Wright's is one of my favorite characters, period. Whenever I do get to covering him, I'm going to go all out presentation-wise, lol
easily one of da coolest muthafuckas in fiction. I got both manga volumes, got da old mvc figure & waitin 4 da 3.5 inch one 2 come in, & I got a pin & custom fumo plush of him 2. hoping dat big capcom leak from awhile ago is legit about a new game 4 him, it'd be da best year eva 4 me lol. keep makin ya tight shit homie, it's supa good!!!
Since the Capcom vs series is sadly gone but never forgotten, it would be a good idea for Capcom to pit all of their current and legendary IP's in a tag-team based versus fighting game. Hard to think of a name 🤔.
I think that's probably the best chance the Vs games has of coming back. I've seen people toss around Capcom All-Stars as a name, though I'm sure there's more creative possibilities.
Next one is actually going to be another multi character video, and it'll admittedly tow slightly beyond the scope of the Vs. Series in more than a few ways. Might take a while to put together, but expect something about as big as the Dan/Joe video in terms of scope/length.
@@TheSeventhForce I have mixed feelings on Namco X Capcom because on one hand I think the idea of Namco and Capcom crossing over is an great idea since their two of biggest names in the Japanese game industry but on the other hand monolith kind of ruined the game by turning it into a really boring tactical RPG and that sucks because I think Namco X Capcom should have been fighting game instead of an RPG since I feel that most crossover games (with the exception of the Kingdom Hearts series) work better in fighting games than in any other game genre in my opinion.

I also see Jin as the C. Falcon of Capcom. Both are pilots and have a famous punch attack.
I love the Cap Commando and Cap Falcon both have fire and electric iconic moves.
If there’s ever a Project X Zone 3 I’d want Captain Commando and Captain Falcon to form a pair unit. They’d work so well together.
Hell, their peculiar fighting stances are nigh on identical! Would sure love to know what their inspiration was, they've clearly had the same source of influence!
Wasn't Captain Commando was around before Captian Falcon ??
Final Fight's Guy
Captain Commando's Ginzu
Strider's Strider Hiryu

Unrelated but nice pfp
Another fun thing to point out is how Captain Commando’s idle animation has him striking a different pose every other second lol
Captain Commando's game is in a future continuity in Metro City! THE Metro City from the Final Fight series!
I love this Capcom Vs Legacy series. I'm still catching up on the other ones as well. I appreciate the work you put into these videos.
Thanks, man!

Yep! A lot of characters actually had their lines re-recorded in MvC2, funnily enough. It's easy to miss.
I'm really enjoying these analysis! It feels like such a missed opportunity to not have Captain Commando fight Captain Marvel in Infinite (I guess that's not the biggest missed opportunity in that game, but man I want it), hope they bring him back!
Another interesting analysis bro. Love your editing, it’s simple but clean.
Appreciate it man! It's almost out of necessity on my end since Sony Vegas likes to randomly explode if I get a little wild with the editing, lol

I got both volumes myself!!! they're so cool, if u eva find a physical version of da second volume then get it!

Even Double Dragon has a presence these days. Wild that Capcom hasn't capitalized on the resurgence yet.
Captain Commando and final fight are my favorite arcade games from capcom for me

Capcom's original mascot.

Also is the captain commando theme you playing throughout the video the namco x capcom version?
Yep!
