Thank you for taking me along with you on this adventure into the tunnel. Really enjoyed it...... Just take a more powerful torch with you next time. 🙂
I loved the comments about the great weather and how it makes one feel they just have to get out into it, because it can’t last. Cool video, thanks very much.
@elainepreston9061 This is Northamptonshire, it was beautiful HOT here May and June ... it rained lots in July and August, and was Again Beautiful and Hot in September and half of October
@@TheManWithNoName. I looked into water management work for the city, was no fun ...I just explore and try to map and make sense of the spaghetti mess that is Texas creeks and drainage ways.
When you were in the tunnel and before you mentioned it I thought what if a jogger entered the other end of the tunnel and ran towards you. After you had previously referenced the horror film you saw, together with your concern about treading in dog muck, I thought that if indeed a man did enter the tunnel and ran towards you then dog muck might not be the variety you needed to be worried about treading in. 😂 When I was there I was also impressed by the monumental build quality of the railway structures although true to form you approached them from an entirely different route. I didn't have a torch with me on my visit or a flash on my camera but I did manage to get a decent photo under the ventilation shaft. Another very enjoyable video. Thanks for posting.
We had a team out in Ampthill Tunnel inspecting the brickwork in the air shafts just this last weekend… then this video pops up… the algorithm works in mysterious ways. This line by the way, to Harborough, could easily be reopened.
On one hand it would be great to see trains once again running as in days of old .... but on the other hand wouldn't want to lose such an exciting place to explore 👍🏻
@@TheManWithNoName. I’ve walked it many times … I work on the patch between Bedford and Leicester … Market Harborough Station is ‘my station’ I oversaw construction back in 2019 … lots of discoveries whilst excavating the foundations… I am very passionate about infrastructure, out of and in use!
I like you're idea to reopen the branch to Northampton. But were do you join up to the main line at market Harborough the part from Bowden to the train station at Harborough is all gone even the old station at Harborough is all gone.
😂 Yes indeed, if I had encountered a figure I think I would of been squelching my way back to the daylight 😂 ..... it truly is an amazing structure, I wish there was a lot more things and places like this around Northamptonshire..... and yes I like to find alternative ways of getting to places 👍🏻 cheers for watching and for your thoughts yet again 👍🏻👍🏻
I've done a video on Oxenden tunnel that i filmed in the mid october sunshine, I'll have that uploaded probably over the next few days, but yeah I'm always on the look out for more interesting places as long as they're not too too far
@@TheManWithNoName. there is Ingardsby tunnel just outside Leicester which is a good tunnel to explore I’ve been in there a few time I do have pics on Facebook
@liamsrailwayadventures1482 I'm not on social media otherwise I'd have a look .... but I'll note it down and add it to my list of places to visit ... thanks mate 👍🏻
Lovely adventure thank you❤ The engineering that it took to build all these railways across England is amazing an mindblowing? To build all this in the years they say is surely impossible an then to close it all not even a hundred years later seems bizare to me! Have you ever considered that this could be very old world an the history has been distored/changed to meet certain narratives? There is no way the numbers match up being the years it took to achieve against the actual number of folks who lived then who would of used it or helped build! Makes me think cheers
I havent ever considered the things you have mentioned, but im not someone that rules things out, I believe anything is Possible, and I do think that in life a lot of the things we are told to believe by authorities don't add up or make sense when put under the microscope .. so you could definitely be on to something there my friend 👍🏻
Yeah it's a well known former Railway route, the tracks at Kelmarsh are long gone, but there is a parallel line at the Northampton and Lamport Railway station in Chapel Brampton where you can take short train rides ..... en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brampton_Valley_Way
Yes you can take it from me I was a fireman at Market Harborough we would bank the coal train up up the .And beening in that tunnel was no joke you had to contend with the smoke from the train engine plus the loco on the rear pushing the train.
@@TheManWithNoName. Yes I was a fireman on the railway there was a few times we would come to a stop .If the engine was not performing well we would not go in the tunnel with the train we would split the train take the first part through to the other side put it on the down road and then we would come back across the road then we would go back tender firest to the second part of the train get that bring it to the station there was a signal box there to then put the train back together the we then we would go on to Northampton and please remember this was done in the dark. I do have some photo's of the tunnel when the line was open.
@ronaldhaynes4042 it sounds like hard work, probably risky too with all that smoke you guys were breathing in, I don't think todays generation would be able to hack what you fellas were doin in bygone days, ..... history is fascinating ..... you should upload those photos to the Internet, I'm sure there are many who would be interested in seeing them

Yes indeed 😂 I will 👍🏻
That footpath sign? What a weedy council but we get similar where they plow it up accidentally or fence it off

Cheers mate, glad you enjoyed the video 👍🏻...... and the weather 😉
I don't know where you were, but it's rained at some time on just about every day since July, in the southweast.

Ventilation Shaft and refuge for Permanent Way workers caught in the tunnel by approaching trains.
Subbed, I've got one more drain to explore on my list, watching these vids is hyping me up, thanks
I just had a quick look at some of your videos, so do you work in the drains ? Or just like finding them and exploring them

Great video what a fantastic. Piece of engineering
Cheers Mate, It's an Awesome Place 👍🏻
East norton tunnel worth a look, few miles north of hallaton.
I've looked at that on the maps ... I'll keep it in mind 👍🏻
East Norton that's the old Melton Mowbray line there's two tunnel on that line and they were double track.

@@bingbong7316 just did, very interesting , thanks 👍🏻
They were for workers to stand in for safety when a train was coming through
Yeah i thought they were, but I wonder why they were bricked up ?
Thats the tunnel from movie " Men "?
No it's not the same tunnel, I was just saying that it reminded me of that film .... I think the tunnel from "Men" is in Gloucestershire 👍🏻
