As a Chicago Bears fan from the states that enjoys really great football 🏈...and as a fan of Calgary in the CFL i commented last week the Saskatchewan vs Calgary game was the game of the year. I have to admit i was wrong. This was the game of the CFL year despite Calgary losing. Ottawa is suddenly really dangerous since Dustin Crum took over at QB. Dustin Crum is the CFLs answer to the NFLs Justin Fields.
Yup, Crum is a real pleasant surprise. Many fans have been commenting that there's a QB problem in the CFL, that the backup QBs just don't have it in them to play well. I've never agreed to this. The backup QB just needs time to get used to playing centre stage. Crum on the other hand has come out of the gate flying, he seems to have some incredible confidence in himself and the team. I'm impressed...
Justin Fields did really well statistically in the latter half of 2022. He got more pieces on offense (DJ, Darnell Wright). No more KAaron Rodgers in the division. Playing NFC South. He has a chance to take that big leap this year.
As a fellow CFL fan from the states it’s great to see more and more of us. The CFL is outstanding and it’s a long season too my man lol plenty of great games ahead! Go Lions!!
@@ChickenPotPie727 You guys picked Jack Campbell and Jahmyr Gibbs a bit too early. But other than that, LaPorta, Hooker, Brian Branch, Martin were very talented picks. I do question your depth at cornerback. None the less, I think it's going to be the Lions and Bears fighting for 1st in the division. Omg, I just realized... I hope u weren't cheering on the BC Lions.
My observations: -The CFL is BEAST! -These are the best highlight packages on yt hands down! - Ottawa’s not my team but so happy for Bob Dyce ! He deserves this success!👍👍
Dustin Crum was with the Kansas City Chiefs and wasn't matching up to their quarterbacking standards! Well duh! Who's their QB?! So he crums to Ottawa as their FOURTH option at QB and after injuries and the coach saying, in exasperation, throw him in, we got nothing to lose! And the rest, as they say, is history! Now, 2 games don't make a season but, my God, It has been fun as hell to watch!! Go Redblacks!!
@ mikegendron Fun to watch indeed. He looks gangly at times but there’s a saying that is appropriate here: Just win, baby. Crum and the RedBlacks have found something.
@ryanfriesen I’ve said this before in a different context but let’s see who is proud of their comments and who is sheepishly hoping no one ever sees what they wrote.
The last 2 games with Dustin Crum has been very at the edge of your seat entertaining. Finally Ottawa is starting to play good football. With Toronto playing also great, the next few games should be interesting.
Great game. Both teams making some great plays and it was decided on the last play. I don't think I've seen a game in the CFL where both teams are wearing their home jerseys before. It is an odd look, but it works.
I feel for ya , as a rider fan we now have no QB as well now that Harris has gone down, Ottawa now has a great prospect in Crum , the guy looks to be a winner!
@ ryanfriesen We’ll see if you’re still calling them the ‘deadblacks’ over the next few weeks. Crum looks gangly as hell to me but he and the team are finding a way to win. Just win, baby.
Can't decide who to cheer for😮 I was an Ottawa Rough Rider fan for many yr. But this is not the Ottawa Rough Riders I also like the Calgary Stampeders . Peter Gabrial was my hero gowing up ! he was phenomenal the way he could catch the ball in the flats ! And tough also, They hit him hard, and he walked away every time ! 😊 Mike.
Peter Gabriel is one of my favourite too ! Especially his song Sledgehammer- wait , who we talking about here? Psst ( his name was Tony Gabriel ) And as a Sask rider fan the most hated man in these parts ( see ‘76 Grey cup )😩
Play by play guy is a Redblacks fan I’d say, played for UOttawa. Colour commentary was provided by a former Stampeder,so maybe a little bit of bias there.
Ummm... If you know the rules of overtime, which clearly you don't, if you score a touchdown in overtime you must go for a two-point conversion. If you want to bash the CFL fine, many non-fans do, however bashing the CFL because you don't know the rules is pretty hilarious! Awesome self-own!
There are different rules in OT for the CFL. Instead of playing extra time to break the tie, the clock is turned off and both teams are given equal chances to score by scrimmaging from the 35. Each touchdown requires a 2-point conversion, no point-afters allowed. What happened in this game is Calgary scored a touchdown with their own chance but missed their conversion pushing their score 41-35, then Ottawa scrimmages from 35, scores a touchdown, and makes the 2 point conversion, ending the game 43-41 with the Redblacks winning. If Ottawa missed that 2 point conversion, game would be tied at 41 and another set of scrimmages will be awarded to both teams.
The only option is the two point conversion for both sides eliminating a boring single play. How do you like watching the kickoffs sailing through the end zone for endless touch backs in the Not Fucking Looking League?
@@larrymccue8097 Oh. I didn't realize the CFL wasn't using normal OT rules. Of course they would make up another dumb rule for OT since the teams would probably fail at moving the ball downfield into scoring range on their drives in OT. Nothing like overcompensating rules to make up for lack of production or talent by the Canadian Failed League. Running starts for slot receivers = pathetic LOL. Single point rouges rewarded for failed kicks = pathetic LOL. Extra player so the pathetic QB can find someone open LOL. Extra wide field to give the slow as maple syrup WR a chance at getting separation LOL. Extra deep endzones so the pathetic offense has a better chance at scoring LOL. Ah, the list is endless. Keke.
I love the cfl(longtime fan) but these ot rules are fucked calgary scored a td in ot thats it its over calgary win a fg I understand but not a td, shameful.

Ottawa won the flip and chose to go on D because of the OT rules. If first score wins they would have went on O after winning the coin flip. Your argument is baseless. And the CFL OT rules are very fair.
@@steveg5591 Very good point! I personally like that both teams get an opportunity and I'm not a huge fan of the NFL regular season overtime. Although, they have improved it a lot from what it used to be.
CFL rigged each and game. Nfl has better athletes so they can somewhat hide it, CFL is a joke though. Now that every bookmaker is involved, no point watching this garbage.
Crum is such a stud. We need more players like him in the CFL

Same thing happened for Brady. Bledsoe got injured and Brady took over. But, I'm not saying Crum will another Brady. Crum looks to be a good QB
and in about 2 games or so he will be forgotten.
