Usually Calderano never hit a forehand he doesn't like. But this game Filus made him hesitant and unsure his forehand. Obviously, team competition put a lot of pressure on him. What a play for the last point. A job well done by Filus.

Amazing and suspenseful match between the defender and the plaintiff. This felt like two lawyers going at it in court.
Good job Filus! Never get into a top spin counter with Hugo. Hugo will win every time in such setting.
I agree with Canice Tang....! There's nothing strange about the serve being ruled "wrong" and the point deducted at 07:30 in the 2:e set if anyone thought so.... Among other trix, Calderano hides the hit on the ball with his left arm when he serves (strictly against the rules...!), and he does it almost all the time when he tosses the ball high. Eventually a rev will take action against such cheating.... and now this one did. And yes.... I am a licenced referee too.... approved to rule all types of international games including world champs and olympics. So suck it up, Canice Tang is right...!

Calderano has so much power that Filus could not pop the ball up at all or else it will be hit so hard that he has no chance to return it. The match could not have been any closer. Filus is good under pressure.
FILUS RUWEN (GER)... Is a bit superior because of the red rubber bet.

This is just my opinion..and I've watched a lot of professional table tennis.... Calderano is the most talented player I've seen in which hasn't lived up to his potential...his forehand is jist as good if not better than players like Ma Long and Fan...I'm hoping in a few years he reaches his ceiling of potential..it'd be a waste not to...

Hugo need to improve! Lacking consistency in his forehead attacks! If you can't beat him, don't even think of facing the Chinese! The German chopper is not good as Joo Sae Hyuk! The Korean is more consistent at playing those low chops! Check out his matches against Ma long, very long rallies against the dictator!

@@PedroHISilva I know! I wouldn't have said it if he had improved enough to take on the chinese in 2022! He may have made some improvements, but the chinese have improved a lot more! Also I still feel his footwork is still not upto the mark as the chinese! I Check out the way Fan and Ma counter attacking shots of opponents. They not only attack but also maintain a good position from the table, which enables them to return anything opponent throws their way. I believe Hugo was one of the people, who said early on that they are closing in on the chinese and in few years time they will start beating them! Era of finishing off with one massive forehand shot is over, now good players will return those shots. You need to get used to long rallies involving lots of attacking shots! You need to learn how to prevail in a rally !! 3rd ball attack is not a good option any more !! Learn how Fan is tackling Ma ! It is bit disappointing to see the Non=chinese players always way behind the chinese when it comes to skill, tactics and stamina!! Its frustrating to see frequent one sided matches !

Good refereeing of spotting many serving faults of Hugo. Hiding the ball with his body and curled fingers on his left hand before the toss. A big no-no under ITTF rules. If I was the referee, he would be kicked out of the match in the first set with repeating warnings and penalty cards.
Nobody cares about curled fingers. They are only looking to see if the ball is visible and if the player is imparting spin on the ball.
@@skipondowntheroad5833 Nobody? Or JUST YOU???? I call fouls as a referee all the time. READ THE ITTF RULES. It said 'open palm at all times'. Well, if you can't read, then I will hate if you will get me as the referee and kick your lily ass out of the match right away.

So let's go back to the times when those ITTF rules didn't apply. No open palms, no minimum height toss required, anything goes. People can serve as close to the table or on your side. How's that?
Now you are saying, "That's bloody absurd!" I am just throwing this back at you. Finally, "It's hard to change of habit of serving." - So if you are a bloody criminal who steals, that's okay too?
Rules are rules. You have to be obliged by them. Otherwise, why play the game or even have proper tournaments if everybody cheats?
Once again, READ THE ITTF SERVING RULES. THEY ARE SPELT CLEAR FOR YOU. I told all those serving cheaters, maybe you are too I don't know from how you defend Hugo. "If you don't follow the rules, then don't play in sanctioned tournaments, ever!"
Often I documented the incident with videotapes as evidences to bring it up to the regional Table Tennis Association for further more deductions or sanctions on those offending players I kicked out. 100 percent of the time, either the match penalty stays or more ranking points taken away from them.
Think for a moment, how is it fair for other players who had obliged by the rules when you are not? If you don't following basic driving rules, you will cause an accident and kill someone.
So Hugo serving fouls all the time, and everyone should follow? Bull freaking shit!!! I will love to be the referee of your game and if you give me these BS excuses. Those penalty cards will be flying out of my hand and you wouldn't even last one single set.
That's not a threat. It is a promise.

But that’s how defensive players win - they trick you by switching rotation and force your mistake, and German does it extremely well.
