If your smart u could just make a metal partition in the rear behind the rear seats just like how its on hatchbacks. That way ul get a lockable rear door to keep valuables.. or just google rear cargo for jeep ull find lot of DIY videos

Finally a convertible top review...thank you!!! Everyone is focusing on hardtop variat... however the convertible top is I feel adds more character to Thar...road trip with an open top will be one of kind experience!
If it's rains u will be completely wet just to fix this convertible. Buy this convertible and repent rectracting the top every time. Such a foolish idea by mahindra.

Man, I never thought I'd be driving a Mahindra pikup in Australia, but I am, they are awesome I've thrown a Tommy Camper on the back of mine for the channel and it just doesn't know it's there, it can handle anything I can throw at it. Wish I had a Thar though.

Sir, if I buy it with a Soft Top, and after a year, do I have the option of converting it into a Hard Top from Mahindra itself!
Mahindra does not proivde that option and if you do it from outside it will cost approx 1 lakh, but hardtop and convertible softop has only 10k rs difference when you buy it.

The front wind shield glass should have levers on both sides of the frame to raise it full upright for " wind in the face " effect. MM 540 had this feature and looked good. 2) When Mahindra collaborated with Willy's Jeep it continued to have the same feature plus the front frame would lower down on the bonnet and would be tied down with an attached canvas belt to the front on the radiator grill in the center. If THAR 2020 off road model add this feature AS AN OPTION , it will increase the sales.
If only the side zippers opened from inside. It would have given more peace of mind to the owners
it will not actually make any diff in peace of mind as someone who will come with wrong intentions wont take a minute to rip apart the transparent plastic sheet. So i think the designers put them outside so its easier for the owner. or else everytime youll have to get back on the rear seat and then come out to open the rest. then again go inside to hook it up. I prefer it the way it is.
Sure a seasoned burglar wouldn’t think twice before ripping the upholstery but a zipper opening from outside is too tempting even to a novice robber.

The cover can be easily torn with a sharp knife and theft can occur !!!
Why need a knife when you can just open the zipper.
If the zippers can be so easily opened from inside, then this poses a security threat in a country like India. One really can't leave any belonging in the car and venture out

Mahindra should consider adding this in the next version :
- Convertible hard top that opens only from inside. This way we can avoid theft, yet provide the luxury of open jeep.
- 4 door so that rear seat can be easily accesible.
- Better mileage.

Convertible mechanism is very bad ! Not safe neither good for harsh weather & Mahindra engineers haven’t done their homework to launch this car ! No exit in panic situations
Neat and easy. Only sadness is that in India the convertible means one cannot leave anything inside unless one is in a secure parking area.

It's good , that its overpriced. The top model LX is around 125000 lakhs . If it's under 10 or 8 then everyone will have one. And eventually It will lose its uniqueness. Every other person having this, will lose its value. At the price of 12.5 lakhs , common people will go for new creta or seltos . Like sheep's. But only the one who are badass and different will invest in this powerful Scorpio based thar, giving out 150 bhp , mStallion petrol engine. 😍❤️

No doubt the car is fabulous & the covertible looks wow, but one issue is that any stranger can easily open that window covers & try to steal easily..
It requires some more improvement in that area only, other the car is good enough.
The chains on the side window cover should be from inside rather than outside so it gives added security, this mechanism should be updated in the next version, till then we can wait for soft cover

This car is a cheap Indian version of Jeep Wrangler. So, don't expect much. The car has everything as per the price. And I would like to have one.

Is it 100% waterproof in rain after fitting softtop??theres no leak in heavy rain?
We did not drive around in rain, was a sunny day today. But, we splashed the top with water last night. What we found out was there was no water that seeped inside the cabin. But on top, there was some standing water collected, which was blown away when we started driving in the morning. Rest assured, not a single drop was found to have made the seats wet. Our experience, in all honesty.
