"Did I say that like a dummy?" Best line ever.
His eyes immediately widen... So good
Well it was the third one in release order.
That was one of the most brain dead moments in the history of the show. I don’t even think he knew what he did wrong, I think he was just feeling out the silence 😂
@@jsshull19 Nah pretty sure he knew what he did wrong. He said it immediately after he gave the answer knowing it was wrong. He just got the names of the movie wrong
Holy Shit. " I barely got light bulbs here" made me laugh, it's quite literally a dark glimpse into my world.
Uhm actually in E.T. you see dozens of adults' faces in the scenes where they're being chased by the police/FBI. Not in shadow, not from behind, but full-frontal well-lit faces.
This. This right here. Famously, Peter Coyote plays "keys" and has a face-to-face conversation with Elliott. It is true that Dee Wallace's "mom" is the only adult face seen so long as E.T. is a kid's secret. Once the mother sees E.T. on the bathroom floor, other adults enter the film.
I know right? I am sort of worried that I have some kind of Mandela effect going on so maybe I will have to get the movie and check, but I remember a scene where he talks to the doctor about ET and the doctor tells him how special his relationship is, I remember when one of the techs mentions that ET has DNA, I remember a scene with the teacher and the frog dissection.
I was stunned to hear this as it’s exactly the kind of obscure trivia I thrive on.
@@JKHowell I immediately went to look up that chase scene cause I was pretty sure you saw adults faces. Your explanation makes sense.
Right? I was so confused because I remember that scene so well. Went and checked and yeah, plenty of adult faces.
The competative vibe, hell, the over all vibe with these three contestants is peak Um, actually! I want them to return in coming seasons.
*competitive
Good contestants

@@tomasxfranco @chris wright Um actually, neither of you said um actually so neither of you get a point
Um actually, in the Assassin's Creed series, Abstergo has developed an animus that anyone can use to live through memories from specific genetic material. In Black Flag you are a random person that is reliving genetic memories from Desmond
I scrolled way too far for this! 💜
Where are you, Charles Leece?!!! ;P but seriously, thanks for a more succinct explanation than my late-night word-vomit haha
Um actually, that was only introduced as a possibility when Ubisoft completely gave up on telling a story around the Animus and a
Abstergo.
My understanding is it's more that Black Flag was a VR game they developed based on genetic memories. You're not exactly a random person reliving Desmond's memories, you're an actual playtester who's testing the beta version of the game before they release to the public.
Um actually, 20/20 vision just means that you can read an eye chart at 20 feet as well as most people can read an eye chart at 20 feet. Without my glasses, I have 20/30 vision (I read at 20 feet what most people read at 30) in my left eye and 20/40 in my right eye. So, a cyclops could still have 20/20 vision (but probably horrible depth perception).
Posted a similar post before I saw yours :)
Almost did the same.
Fun fact about me specifically. During COVID I had to renew my license and get an eye exam before submitting my application to renew. … turns out I have 20/15 vision. AKA I can read at 20 feet what most people can only read at 15. I’m a fucking super hero
They even make humans close one eye to read the chart! The cyclops would not be disadvantaged at all!
@@machomancakelol I just imagine a superhero who isn't super fast or strong so plenty of criminals would just get away. Most encounters would boil down to you reporting what you saw with the cops asking if you got a good look at the suspect and you just heroically answering "Haha, well of course! I am _the_ Eye Guy after all!".
I have slightly denser bones than most people making them a little harder to break. Yes I know that's
kinda the plot to Unbreakable, and no I don't sink in water nor would I be able to survive a train crash (probably). Anyways we could either do a whole super hero team up thing as like Bone Dude (we can workshop the names) or the other option is I could be your nemesis The Boner(note that as my enemy there will be no workshopping this name) either way my catchphrase/battle cry would be "Welcome to the Bone Zone!" If we can get the guy with really stretchy skin, or even that lizard guy who just modified his body a lot, we could get a whole super team thing going.
I look forward to your reply, and keep in mind that if you either don't agree to teaming up or ignore me I will use that as my villian origin story and my raison d'etre for terrorizing you and your town if it's small enough otherwise it's just going th be your neighborhood or something. I'll be the Syndrome to your Mr. Incredible! Hopefully you don't get any wise ideas about teaming up with other slightly more powerful humans either like the guy with stretchy skin, or even that lizard guy who just modified his body a lot. I would hate for such a powerful force of meta humans to come together in a moment of crisis and come to the realization that perhaps they could do more good as a team than they could ever do apart.
::holds up picket sign:: Repeatedly chants “LET TRAPP DO HIS DAVID BOWIE E.T. SKETCH!”
How was that E.T. bit never done? That sounds hysterical.
yeah, forget the screws at college humor, what do they know from funny? make this ET/Man who fell to earth bit happen, i'll legit watch a full feature film like this...(just now realizing as i type this that that's basically what Michael Jackson's Moonwalker was, but without the british accent)
This bit just reminded me of why Trapp was Head Writer for so many years. All of the writers were good, but he ranked among the best
My best guess would be that they wouldn't think that Bowie would be that topical with today's youth, even though he transcends space and time. I bet that some of that material was worked into Brennan's character in Ultramechatron tho, as he gave me a lot of Evil Bowie/Ziggy Stardust vibes
See they were _going_ to do it but the person they cast as the alien, Pat, suddenly mysteriously died so.............
Best episode to date, I would watch anything with these 3 contestants on a panel.
Big same!! ❤
For real.
This episode is pure chaos and I’m here for it lmao
Um, actually, you see Peter Coyote's face in ET. He's the one that tries to connect with Elliot and convince him he wants to help ET.
As well as AT LEAST 15 different cops during the bike chase scene.
Yeah you see a ton of scientists faces too I went back and watched it cuz I was so shocked like “wow I can’t believe I never noticed that you never see an adults face” then I saw a ton of faces lol. I saw one comment that said not seeing any adults faces other than the moms was true before the mom finds ET though
@@mylifeismylaptop8529also, people will refer to the adults in ET as like governmental bad guys when they are in fact very supportive of ET, they are just concerned cause it's an alien and they don't know the environmental or ecological or bacterial damages.
Umm actually, you omitted the Northern Mariana Islands from the list of permanently inhabited US territories. While geographically in the same island chain as Guam, they are administered separately.
I knew DC was not a territory but I was also pretty sure I had heard the number five before, so I was wondering if they replaced another one with DC. Indeed, five is the count and N. Mariana is what was missing. So in a way a different angle on the same answer...but I'm guessing a lot more mainlanders know that DC doesn't belong than would be able to identify Northern Mariana Islands :)
Jay talking up Beastmaster got the UA-cam ads trying to sell me both seasons.
Um actually there were not "small rocks." The book outright says Inaros flung asteroids at Earth that were big enough to survive entry but undetectable due to the stolen stealth coating.
Expanse: All you need is a rock and a dream!
Dark-NASA: *takes notes*
Love that the New Rockstars crew is basically all here
Erik
MT and Jess Clemons was fact checking last game
If we get the trinity of new rockstars which is Jess Erik and mt that would be the best episode as they are the biggest nerds in the world
@@ultraultra5847Well, sadly 2 of them don't work there anymore
My favorite part of the Shannara thing is that it's not even a big reveal. They just lay out that this is a post-apocalyptic setting in chapter 3 of the book.
I am a fan of the post-apocalyptic setting and that magic in the series is so dangerous and corrupting to even skilled practitioners and magical beings that overuse has dire consequences.
Yes, but the fact that it's allegedly "Earth" isn't clear, that was a reveal only in much later books. (Which considering how little the world of Shannara has to do with the actual geography or mythology of Earth, it's not surprising you won't guess that. They like sail to Hawaii in the sequel trilogy with medieval boats which is where all the elves teleported themselves to and it became an evil monster-filled jungle? Sure whatever.)
@@Snow_Fire_Flame They don't flat out say it
s Earth, but from context clues it's pretty obvious: Elves and magic went dormant because of technology and human encroachment on nature, every other race (Dwarfs, Gnomes, Trolls) are just mutated humans who survived the apocalypse in different ways, they stop by the ruins of an old city.
The fact that the map of the Four-Lands is just a map of the Pacific-Northwest without cities and more forest.
Also, they fly to on of the Hawaiian islands on a giant bird a subset of Elves use, which still takes a couple days. And Hawaii does have natural jungle areas (the monsters are something the Elves created by experimenting with forbidden magic).
Wow, MT showing up somewhere besides New Rockstars. I love that dude.
Um, technically, in Assassin's Creed you only need the DNA of the person to access the memories, but it tends to fail in non related individuals due to a DNA rejection and an increased bleeding effect of personalities.
However in AC: Origins Layla made an Animus that solved these issues.
Therefore the correction must be that the Animus let's you recreate any person's history as long as there's a DNA sample of them.
That origins change was stupid.
Sometimes Trapp doesn't seem like he's not having a great time hosting, but this one he seems to be almost giddy at times. Glad to see him enjoying it.
Um actually, in the Assassin's Creed series, only the original Animus device was limited to the user's genetic memory. Starting in Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag, anyone could use the Animus to interact with the genetic memories of any DNA sample.
The fact that Trapp did not get to make his Bowie ET sketch is a travesty.
This is probably the Um, Actually episode that has made me laugh the most to date. I. LOVED. IT.
Absolutely great contestants, they were all having so much fun!
OMG I loved this episode. Thanks to the editors for leaving in all the extra content in there
Great show Trapp, thank you for having such diverse contestants. This show is the greatest thing to happen to me.
This was an amazing line up. The guest players were just so fantastic
I love all three of these guys; please bring them back for future episodes!
Fantastic as always thank you
Omg more of these 3!! 😂😂😂 I cracked up the whole episode!
Petition to make the ET but it's David Bowie video! That bit killed me 😂
Grant as the alien?
Happy Friday, fellow enjoyers of Um, Actually!
Have a happy weekend Mantaur!
Happy Friday, Benton, and a very happy weekend to you too^^
11:00 MT with a Lords of the Wing/Grandfather-type joke 😆
What a great episode!
One of the best, because everyone was so funny and worked so well together.
Please bring these 4 back together again, and yes I’m including Trapp as he seemed to have such great time with the others. 👍😄👍
I would love a special episode that had old winners back on and only ask questions that have been on previous episodes of the show.
Great episode! Definitely made me want to rewatch ET!
Make sure you check out all the adult faces you see during the bike ride scene.
When you get a great group of people together for Um Actually you know it's gonna be a fantastic episode!
24:40 the weirdest part is that I'm pretty sure that Mario DOES have nipples. Who took Wario's nipples?!
In a way that actually helps it make sense - Wario specifically does not have nipples BECAUSE Mario does. Or maybe he does, but they're on his back instead of his front.
I got every single one of the Star Wars title crawls instantly and I consider that my greatest personal accomplishment.
Great guests, loved the show! Thanks for sharing!
As a New Rockstar fan, this is so surreal seeing MT and Erik Voss face off in Um Actually. Is this a crossover episode?
Great show as always. Love this .
I don't think I've ever laughed this much during one of these episodes! The sheer amount of fun they are having is contagious xD
Excellent work as ever!
It’s always amazing chaotic energy with these 3😂
um actually, you see the cops that are chasing them on the bikes. There's like an iconic reaction shot of the bikes flying overhead
super solid episode, everyone did pretty well.
I want to see that Bowie skit now; it sounded hilarious
this show is GENIUS. i'm "well actually"ing things in my head all the time lol
Love the format of this New Rockstars video
OMG now this is THE episode baby!!!
Um, Actually... Most advertisements for watches/clocks have the time set to 10:10 because the hands' placement shows off the company logo really well in its framing. If you think about it 2:42 would have a close to similar framing while being to double as a bit of a reference!
You just end up in the Animus reliving the memory of the last good party or something in your recent past, on repeat. Lol
I need to watch E.T. again, because I'm sure we saw the face of the scientist at some point.
You do. The Main guy chasing ET, Keys, is played by Peter Coyote and we see his face a lot. And most of the scientists
We kind of infamously see the faces of the cops with -shotguns- walkie talkies as Eliot flies over them. I've never seen ET and even I know that.
Last time I was this early Um, Actually was in the Humor College channel and the players shared a small table bell.
This episode is delightful
Tons of laughter.
Alien vs predator? FINALLY AN EPISODE IVE PREPARED FOR!!!!
I wonder how close this was shot to the final seasons of The Expanse. The meteor plot was huge in the last seasons.
From season one episode four, "CQB", while Chrisjen is on the roof with her grandson watching a meteor shower (on Earth):
Granson: ... They're just little rocks that burn up in the sky.
Chrisjen Avasarala: They're not always so little.
Grandson: You mean like the one that killed the dinosaurs?
Chrisjen: Uh-huh
Grandson: Okay, that rock was big. But that hardly ever happens! Like winning the lottery.
Chrisjen: *long pause* I worry about people who throw rocks.
Grandson: *Scoff* Nobody can throw rocks that big. It just happens sometimes, because, you know, gravity.
Chrisjen: hm
Um actually Trapp, in "The Expanse" the "Rocks" are actual several hundred foot in diameter asteroids collected from the asreroid belt. The Belters refer to them as rocks because the language has subtly devolved slightly over the years. Also, that is why in the series, asteroid miners are called "Rock Hoppers".
I wouldn't even call it devolution, just slang. They're big rocks. It's a fact.
But yeah he was so specific about the rocks being really really small that I thought I was missing something from the books having only watched the show.
Fantastic episode. Amazing contestants with great personalities. These were not my categories but stayed for the fun folks you had on. Awesome all around.
Love the New Rockstars on the show!!
Love this episode! Would point out that panthers are half the size of a tiger or smaller. So that could be why they painted a tiger black.
The energy on this one was incredible
I always thought of Turkey day in animal crossing as like how we have real holidays to celebrate certain groups of people(international women's day, pride, or black history month) So they're celebrating the history of the turkeys
This episode is so chaotic! I love it XD
One of my favorites great show
I got the shannara question right because i remember watching the show on netflix where it showed a map of the four lands and it was america, and they were in seattle because it showed a derelict space needle
"From pac man to pikmin" love a good pikmin reference, I just got back into it again playing the 3rd one in the switch
Um actually, nobody corrected that in Assassin's Creed, the Animus does not project a 3D image, it lets them mentally relive the experiences in the memories.
"Hey Palpatine's back, don' fucken worry 'bout it, we're moving on 😬" 🤣🤣🤣
Nice to see another question about assassins creed. It’s rare and I’m a huge fan of the franchise of games. Wish they would do more questions about assassins creed
In the novelization of E.T., I think it does specify that E.T. is hundreds of years old. (Also, fun fact, the candy is M&Ms, because the book was based on the original draft of the story before it was decided to go with Reece's Pieces.)
Im dead because I know exactly what Jay means by saying a dude on 79th street here in Chicago! I pass them all the time on the bus!! LMAO!
I really loved this group’s dynamic ❤😊 absolutely great
Wow, 2 new rockstars competitors! Great episode!
I LOVE EVERYTHING!!!!
Congrats MT!
They didn't suggest a question. They suggested a statement.
i barely remember anything about sword of shanaria but i did know this one! i remember it vividly because the book spends like a full page or 2 describing a weird mountain and about half way through you realize what they're describing is a derilect skyscraper and it was such a cool moment!
OH MY GOD! SHOUT OUT TO THE DEEEEEEEP CUT REFERENCE TO "IT'S LIKE A POEM IT RHYMES" FROM ERIK MAKING FUN OF GEORGE LUCAS SAYING THAT ABOUT THE PREQUELS! I'm stunned.
during the bit with the advert questions i got a advert for watches pop up on my screen
We literally called one of the assistant principles at my high school The Predator because she looked just like them predaliens. I would feel bad if she wasn't such a mean individual.
Wow, this was a fun episode! I can't remember the last time Mike and the guests spent to much time making each other laugh.
Love Erik Voss and MT
Wow! New Rockstars represent!
Well damn. Now I need to watch ET again.
Um, actually in ET you see the faces of many adults. While you don’t see any for the majority of the film, you later see nurses, scientists, policemen and others during ET’s death and subsequent chase scene.
you should TOTALLY make that crazy glam rock alien thing. why would they turn that down? it's hilarious
27:41 We need this to be an animated short, with Stamper doing the voice of the Bowie-Alien.
Stamper is uhhhhhhhhhhh NOT exactly a hireable person anymore.
Goddammit Mike! "You're dead to me" had me spitting my morning coffee. Oh, you beautiful bastard.
While I could get a bit pedantic about the Assassin's Creed question, I do want to point out that on top of DC not being a territory, there are actually 14 (plus 2 disputed) US territories with Northern Mariana Islands replacing DC in the 5 with permanent residents (others like Midway or Palmyra have researchers and what not stationed on them).
Eric Voss on Um actually OMG
That title got my hopes up. Alien fighting Predator, The Beastmaster & ET would be sick
I guess I can take a break from trying to harass Bill Nye into speaking at my school.
Those who interacted with B.Nye and spoken on it, say he's a bit of a dick.
I always loved that tiger in "Beastmaster," cos you could still see its stripe pattern, black-on-black in some shots, which I thought was just entirely badass.
Have to wonder how long that thing survived after all that, feel like the paint would've reduced its lifespan a bit
in animal crossing, they are canonically all Pescatarians.
I really liked the lineup this episode. Very interesting individuals.
The problem with 'Pirate Gold' is that it uses a fairly distinctly early digital art style (bright colors, uniform gradients) while Game Boy box art was usually hand drawn. Now if they had made that a GBA or DS box, it would have been indistinguishable.
im from the virgin islands so imagine my shock when i heard my home being mentioned at the end
This was a fun episode and very close. I was hoping for a 3 way. Tie. Lol.
No thanks, ad, I'm good.
I was glad it was close enough for a 3 way tie until the last question, but I'm also happy to take a "new guy wins" finish too!
