Keep those little white sachets you find in new things. They absorb moisture like crazy. If you wash clothes overnight they don’t dry stick them in a plastic bag with a few sachets, swimwear, wet towels, etc…. They are a game changer
Samson is very calm about the whole packing thing....what a little treasure. Our cats start having conniptions when they see the suitcases come out.....they just know something is happening that is going to upset their nice orderly life somewhat!! Have the best trip Carla.
he was being extra needy that day and i know it is because he saw all that packing stuff coming out. animals are so smart and intuitive!! thanks tina xoxo
Packing cubes!!! Professional organizer here. I moved my family of 4 from Japan to the US and had 3 seasons of clothing organized in cubes by person by color. What I packed was what we had until our moving shipment came in 3-4 months. I was able to put 3x as much clothing in with cubes as by rolling. I never ever pack without packing cubes.
I love packing cubes for their organizing element, rather than everything bouncing around in the suitcase; for how quickly it allows you to unpack by just taking out the cubes; and how my clothes then don’t come into contact with hotel drawers or cupboards as much.
I always use packing cubes as well. I can cram more into them than just using the empty space in my bags but also remove the cubes directly to the dresser provided for easy access and repacking! Love them!
Have a wonderful trip! I do love your Longchamp bag... it is on my wishlist. (& would you consider doing a kind of review of your packing when you come home? If there is anything you regret or did not use, wish you had brought? I find those to be very useful too. No pressure, just cards on the table!) Best, Lynne
I am definitely team packing cube, but I'm a mom and I', usually packing my kiddos in one suitcase and I have packing cubes in different colors for each kid. It saves so much space, makes unpacking so easy and everybody knows where their items are because they know their color cube.
Packing cubes are useful (no - awesome) when you are moving from place to place. I just put the cubes in the closets/on the open shelves (depending on the hotel) and when I pack, I just place them back in the suitcase. No second guessing, rooting around or forgetting anything. I also have a compression packing cube for dirty laundry (in a nylon bag) which takes up no room even if it's full. This system has worked for me for 8 years all over Europe and the U.S.
First of all, how did it take me this long to find you?! All my interests in one channel; minimalist travel, decluttering, organization…! Second of all I love the detailed way you filmed your packing. I love Away bags too, but it’s more than I’m willing to pay. I have a collection of pouches for various scenarios. I do love packing cubes, I think you would be sold if you ever tried a good set. All of your tips are spot on, with one small exception that’s just me probably. I could never do a white travel outfit! I guess I’m just a dirt magnet…
Off to the UK on Thursday for a month from 🇦🇺. Have taken underseat luggage for the last 2 decades. As a seasoned traveller I always learn something new from vids such as yours. Love your no nonsense tips.
Hi Carla. When I traveled for work my dog Eddie would really suffer without me. My boss booked me a session with his “animal commutator” (rich people). It was great! Eddie was able to ask questions and told me ahead of time that he’d rather stay with my cousin and his family. I’d been wasting money boarding him with our Vet. Animals are amazing. Anyway, have a great trip and love to your pup!
Omg I was thinking of booking an animal communicator before I leave this is such a sign!! Thank you for sharing I want him to know I’m leaving for a few weeks❤️
Watched while pacling for my own trip tomorrow. Removed some fantasy clothing items when you said it cos *I KNEW* I wouldn’t wear them. Safe travels Carla! Hope your trip goes well :)
Definitely I like packing cubes. But I also dislike clamshell suitcases, I just want one big open box of space in my suitcase style, which gives me the ability to “Tetris” my items to the best configuration. Packing cubes are great to use in Europe when many hotels don’t have enough floorspace for you to keep a suitcase out and open. Can easily stack them on a shelf or put them in drawers to get your clothes. It also makes it super easy to repack my bag when changing cities. I also use a laundry basket and a couple shoe boxes or empty shipping boxes to gather the Misc. stuff I need to pack in the weeks leading up to the trip. When I think of something or buy supplies for the trip, I put them in one of those boxes when I think of it…and then I compare my collected items against my checklist and just have to find a couple of remaining things on my final day when doing the final pack. I also like clear ziploc bags for organizing many small items like laundry soap, wash line, contacts etc….. I put a few extra ziploc bags, sandwich/quarts size bc sometimes I grab hotel breakfast for on the go or put a snack in a baggie for later… and bring a 2 gallon sized bag to use to do laundry in the sink.
I love packing cubes! We just came back from a 3 week Europe trip and it made packing/unpacking so much easier. We did 3 countries so we had to pack and unpack in between countries. Packing cubes are especially helpful for kids clothes. My 5 year old’s clothes are small and it stays organized in a packing cube. I only packed one suitcase between my son and I, and we organized with packing cubes to separate our clothing.
My mom and I traveling. She has Carry on and I have backpack fjällräven kinken with clothes. Packing extrem minimalist. And hand wash. We was in helsinki .
I really loved this packing video and your other one! I am not team packing cube, with one exception, I use one small two sided cube for my undies so I have clean on one side and worn on the other! Great packing tips thank you!!!
Great packing! I was in Europe for a month and I had a very small rolling luggage (carryon size) and a purse inside an overnight soft bag along with things I would need if I couldnt access my luggage. I sometimes wear my tennis shoes on the plane because they take up so much room in the suitcase. I got a few great tips from you on here! Thank you for your videos!
I'm team packing cubes. mostly for organization but also for some compression (will be trying compression cubes on my upcoming trip). I'm a low maintenance type if person , no makeup, minimal skin care, don't mind re-wearing/washing clothes etc. it usually makes packing so much easier. I'm one of those who actually enjoys packing. haven't checked in luggage in ages
I am 'team: whatever suits the packing needs.' If I am going on a short trip, I use a smaller bag and roll my clothes. And for the longer trip I use my compression-packing cubes 👍 Have a safe and wonderful trip 😻
I bought packing cubes for 2 weeks in Hawaii in a carry on, staying in 3 different hotel/Vrbos. After the first stop i quit using them because they were hard to use all of the space efficiently, especially in a smaller bag. I couldn’t squish things in between clothes like a hairbrush, toiletries, etc.
Trying to pack for a trip is one of the reasons I do not like to travel. You make it look so painless. I am glad someone can do it. I will remember what you have said and done and then maybe it will help me.🤞🏻
Have a wonderful trip! I don't use packing cubes, because they don't make space for more, they just organise it better.* And since I usually only bring around 15 items of clothing (plus underwear), I dont need that organising. I have thought about getting a packing cube for laundry, instead of using my roll-up-tiny-tote for that. *Packing cubes egg compression do make space for more, but they are not practical when you need to get into your things often.
Lovely to find you! April the suitcase designer guided me here. i’m impressed with your packing skills and speed. i try to keep things minimal when i travel as well but it takes me hours to decide on my outfits. Fitting everything in a carry-on suitcase is ideal but i use a bigger suitcase for long haul destinations so that i can put in all the souvenirs i buy ;) This was fun. Thank you! Have a nice, safe trip!
I use packing cubes. I pack cashmere sweaters b/c you can get a lot of warmth from a thin sweater. Because I am a collar/button type person, I pack 1 comfy lounge outfit to wear around the hotel rooms or when I'm going down for breakfast. My next long trip, I will be adding a delicates laundry bag. Thank you for your tips!
I loved the Longchamp packing… it‘s pretty funny to me how many videos pack for Europe (a small area of vastly differing climates) and hardly any that pack for North America (a huge area of vastly differing climates)… Have a great trip!
✨🧳✨Hey Carla. I’m definitely Team Packing Cube & I’m teaching my granddaughters to pack with them as well. I bought each of them their own set in different colors & my daughter said when they went on vacation this summer even the 5 yo was able to keep her stuff straight. It really helps when TSA wants to go into your bag as my son experienced on his last vacation. We’re Team Carry On as well so it truly helps. You did great with minimalist packing. Do you take pictures of your outfits at home so you know what you have when you get to your destination??? Enjoy your trip. Hugs & much love.✨🧳✨
Great video, love your style of presentation and your no-nonsense tips. I used to travel a lot and have considered myself a light packer, but I’ve never done Europe for a month in just a carry on. I’ll have to try it :) (P.s.I do not use a belt pack, instead I use The Sash Bag which fits under a jacket and no one can even tell you have it on. )
I’m headed to Europe in a few weeks. I just ordered the pill box. I was using tiny plastic bags to store my medications in. This pill box is going to be a lifesaver!
Be sure to check the countries you’re traveling to. Some require medications to be in original containers with their labels. If you have prescriptions meds, your pharmacist might be able to print out extra labels which you could place on the little plastic baggies.
So minimal yet so close to the maximum weight x you really pack well and take so little for such a long stay away. Looks like you have room to bring some purchases back. Great job 🤗 enjoy your trip 🤗
Love this! I always pack too much unless going somewhere warm and living in swimsuits. It would be amazing to pack everything into a carry-on! Have a fabulous trip!
Good luck!!! Would be so nice for you to take a photo of each day’s outfit and also if you used everything you took with you or if there was something you missed that you left out!!! I am trying NOT to be an over-packer anymore!!! ♥️♥️♥️🥰🥰🥰🌺🌺🌺
So on short trips I travel with a 27l backpack and use packing cubes, on med/carryon trips I pack like you packed but with one small cube for undies and Jammies so it can go to the bathroom to shower, and if I bring my big check in I use a couple packing cubes as “drawers” so I’m less messy
Thank you for this video!! I’m planning a trip to San Francisco this fall. Your new suitcase is the exact size I need because I’m tired of lugging anything larger…I’m off to Target! I’ve used packing cubes for about a decade. Have a fun trip to Europe. ✈️
My packing style is very similar to yours, I hardly ever use my packing cubes but I always take so little that they're not really necessary. Have a wonderful safe trip Carla ✈🥳
I always roll my clothing when I am traveling. And I love it that you pack stuff in your shoes - me too! I hope you have the best time ever. Be safe, have fun! 🌷❤️
That's amazing! I'm surprised though that some of the things in the make-up bag don't have to go into the ziplock even though they are considered liquids
I normally use the packing cubes but today they seemed to not work. They made the suitcase too bulky. I think it is cause I am using a smaller carryon. I am going to Canada for 5 days. I rolled everything as you did; and used the shoes to put my socks in. I also like to pack light. Great video. Have a wonderful trip.
Hope you have a fabulous trip‼ Looking forward to any Europe videos 😻 Travel umbrella in your shoe is pure genius, I had seen others recommend putting socks in shoes, but socks can be squeezed in anywhere and travel umbrellas are trickier..... And shout out to your great trip to ensure you are not packing for your "fantasy self" I know I have fallen into that trap. I am team packing cube - mostly because they look nice in the suitcase 😹
This video came at the perfect time bc I’m going to England for a few weeks and every time I travel I try to minimize what I bring. Loved how everything fit!
I am team packing cube for sure.. especially with a hard case suitcase like yours (I have the same one from target). I switch the sides.. I’ll put my packing cubes on the other side with the y snap.. you can organise the packing cubes so they are all strapped down securely. Then on the zipper side I’ll put my other items, shoes, toiletries etc so they are more secure and not flying all around inside my suitcase.
Solo travel I don't bother with packing cubes. Traveling with the family, I use packing cubes. We share suitcases, but don't necessarily share rooms at our destination, so the cubes are key.
Have you tried using a duffle bag for your travel? I recommend using the Bento Bag from Nomad Lane. I've been using this bag for months now and it is such a hack. I tried using packing cubes and they are amazing but now I switched to a duffle bag. Tried Nomad Lane's Bento bag and it's a good choice.
Love love love your packing videos. They are very motivating to pack less. Could I just take a carry on for travel? Challenge accepted for myself. I'll let you know my results. Pray you had safe travel and fun in Europe😍🙂
Awesome packing video! You're brave for wearing that light colored outfit while traveling. I'd be afraid of something staining it, if I'd wear something like that.
Yeah, love it! Hope you have a great journey ! I always think: you can always wash the cloths, you just go 1 time to a laundrymat or wash single items in the bathroom sink. I just cam back from 4 weeks in a spine rehabilitation center (after spine surgery). When I arrived with 1 trolley(tbh: bigger than yours, but hey, you oviously have an advanced degree in packing science 😀 ), the reception desk was very confused. After clarifying that yes, there is only 1 bag for me, I went for an examination. When I arrived at my room, therewhere 4 (!) Suitcases waiting for me, because the luggage carrier coud not believe it either.
i love your suggestions. i do have 3 packing cubes. i had a medium one i was missing. it took me forever to find. it was hidden in my 26l backpack. couldn't find it bc it was black and the inside of my backpack was black so i didn't put that together. finally i picked up the backpack a month later wondering why it was so heavy and voila wouldn't you know the packing cube was there. had 3 dresses inside, some long and short sleeved shirts and more i believe. i didn't even know those things were missing. oy. the only reason why i was going bonkers was bc i had 2 missing panties, brand new. lol. so mystery solved.
okay stopping at the neck pillow.. we just finally donated ours because all the long haul flights have pillows. Do you ever get annoyed carrying yours?
last comment 🤣 - my travel skincare alone would take up one side 🤣, but I like what I like. but also, very impressed you fit all of that. Now I shall return to packing far too many things in my bags.
Team packing cube as I have kids so noone ever gets a bag all to themselves. I'm worried travelling with your meds like that could get you in trouble one day. Pretty sure the rule is meds need to stay in original packaging because even with home labels that just looks so suspicious. One thing I'd add is some roll tiny reusable shopping totes. Happy travels.
So impressive! I’m a chronic overpacker and this is amazing to me. What about a water bottle? Do you carry one or just get water/beverages at the airport?
I really enjoyed this video. So much I just purchased the same calpak. I have a waist pack that I already use but it’s not roomy enough and it doesn’t have the double zippers. This is one looks perfect for travel. Thanks. Enjoy your trip.
Ha, I got an ad for Monos suitcases on this video, maybe they want ot sponsor your luggage :-D "Exthetera!" Lol. And fantasy items, yaaaasss. But sometimes I do wear them, always wishful packing with them though. Good thinking about the slim sunglass case! Mine is sooo bulky. I can't believe you got all that in there! Excellent work!
Great video! I use packing cubes when I am taking a bigger luggage however when I am doing a carry on only trip I think rolling saves the most space in a smaller bag. Only thing I noticed you were missing was PJ's to sleep in : )
I pack without cubes but I do roll up clothes like you do. I am going to try and use only a carry on when I fly again. Enjoy your time in Europe Carla! 🛫
Keep those little white sachets you find in new things. They absorb moisture like crazy. If you wash clothes overnight they don’t dry stick them in a plastic bag with a few sachets, swimwear, wet towels, etc…. They are a game changer

What is a packing cube?

@@uniquewhimsy622 It’s a square polyester box with a lid that unzips. You usually buy them in sets of 3.

I cannot believe you got all that stuff into one small suitcase, but you did. Impressive packing skills!

@@TheCarlaProject You’re so welcome. I’ll email you a recommendation.
@@TheCarlaProject We've used Laura Stinchfield a few times and she is amazing !!!!!!
Team packing cubes! I don't separate shirts from pants etc it's more like clothes from other items. They make compression packing cubes now too

Packing cubes - I love them if for no other reason than I am frequently pulled aside at TSA. Helps keep my things from getting too disheveled.
I love packing cubes! We just came back from a 3 week Europe trip and it made packing/unpacking so much easier. We did 3 countries so we had to pack and unpack in between countries. Then on the zipper side I’ll put my other items, shoes, toiletries etc so they are more secure and not flying all around inside my suitcase.
Great!! Gonna refer to this on next away trip.
Have fun your vacation to Europe. I'm going to Mexico next month and can't stop watching packing videos.
Very organised and calming video. I pack in a similar way. Thank you for sharing!
Wow - Great job!! I am team packing cube for sure. I love how your wardrobe is coordinated. I hope you have a great trip!!
Can you do a minimalist pet packing video?! I always struggle and over do it with my pets when I'm traveling.
Really enjoyed the video. Great info and tips
Love love love your packing videos. They are very motivating to pack less. Could I just take a carry on for travel? Challenge accepted for myself. I'll let you know my results. Pray you had safe travel and fun in Europe😍🙂
Hi, where are your ventures taking you? Please keep us updated😀
Wow! I am impressed! And how exciting you are traveling. I hope you have a great time.
Awesome packing video! You're brave for wearing that light colored outfit while traveling. I'd be afraid of something staining it, if I'd wear something like that.
I know.. I’m flying nighttime so it’s hop on plane sleep and hop off hopefully I can do it without any stains :)
queen of packing! lol ah so jealous i want to do this someday. solo travel is good for the soul. enjoy your trip!! 😍
There where 4 suitcases that belonged to different people in your room,??
@@LeaSonnenscheinTrier exactly!
@@KarMa-ws3ll That is crazy! What a Story to tell, right!?
@@KarMa-ws3ll is your spine alright now?
Have fun on your trip! Great ideas and awesome packing. Take care!
i love your suggestions. i do have 3 packing cubes. i had a medium one i was missing. it took me forever to find. it was hidden in my 26l backpack. couldn't find it bc it was black and the inside of my backpack was black so i didn't put that together. finally i picked up the backpack a month later wondering why it was so heavy and voila wouldn't you know the packing cube was there. had 3 dresses inside, some long and short sleeved shirts and more i believe. i didn't even know those things were missing. oy. the only reason why i was going bonkers was bc i had 2 missing panties, brand new. lol. so mystery solved.
OMG I want you to come to Korea so that we can do all the facials and self care and most importantly... skincare shopping.
I'm also watching this as I take a break from packing and feeling like there's no way I can make it fit. 💛
okay stopping at the neck pillow.. we just finally donated ours because all the long haul flights have pillows. Do you ever get annoyed carrying yours?
last comment 🤣 - my travel skincare alone would take up one side 🤣, but I like what I like. but also, very impressed you fit all of that. Now I shall return to packing far too many things in my bags.
Packing cubes all the way. Helps me to stay organized.
Have a safe and wonderful trip Carla.
I love watching you pack! I always learn a lot! Have a wonderful trip 💗
Makes sense with the cubes and kids. It’s OK to travel without the original medication packaging as far as TSA is concerned. It’s on the website ❤️
So impressive! I’m a chronic overpacker and this is amazing to me. What about a water bottle? Do you carry one or just get water/beverages at the airport?
I want to get a collapsable water bottle. it is on my wish list but last time I bought an expensive bottle at the airport
Exctheteraaaa hahahah thanks Jilly!! Wish monos would sponsor me 😄😄
Oh! Is the belt bag allowed & not considered like a purse (personal item)? I Love how you packed everything. So Efficient 😊😇
That was great and so easy. Are you able to provide the measurements for the suitcase? Thanks
It’s linked in description box! Has measurements there :)
Bon voyage dear Carla❤🍀🌸⚘
Found from the TSD, loving the videos to inspire me to declutter. Watching from UK, Suffolk :)
Great video! I use packing cubes when I am taking a bigger luggage however when I am doing a carry on only trip I think rolling saves the most space in a smaller bag. Only thing I noticed you were missing was PJ's to sleep in : )
And socks!
Try compression packing cubes
Really informative! Thank you and your dog is adorable 🥰
How far in advance do u pack? Love your videos btw!! I’ve used the other packing video so many times LOL
I pack without cubes but I do roll up clothes like you do. I am going to try and use only a carry on when I fly again. Enjoy your time in Europe Carla! 🛫
This video came at the perfect time thank you so much
