Unfortunately the game has been abandoned in early access with not even a peep from the developer in... 7 months, from what I can tell. And the reviews don't paint a great picture about what the game is like right now, at the very least Joel was able to make it a wonderful experience.

A door opens, weird noise, something on the cams etc. But so subtle. This game utilizes paranoia so well, you make the fear for yourself. I'm probably not as terrified as you but the streams are so unnerving it's insane. Love it. Hope you stream this again one day, I know you're waiting for VR support, but Joel but I'm scared you'll get an actual heartattack if you ever do that.
It seems like he intentionally made this edit more joke-y. It's nice that it means that both this and the fan highlights are well worth watching, for different reasons: this gives you a sillier version of the biggest moments, while the fan ones give you more of the atmosphere and actual signal simulating (which was most of the full streams).

For some unknown reason, the signal simulator streams are the only long Joel streams I've watched. I'm not usually willing to put up with more than 4 hours for a stream (besides Jerma) but for some reason I was captivated by these streams. Probably the probe I got back in 13' forcing me to gather info on it but I still enjoyed it.

Honestly, the creator might say this ain't a horror game, but it's a goddamn masterclass in the art of subtle horror Even just the way the research-station is shaped, the way the rooms are all slightly too big, giving off that liminal space vibe, the way the corners cut off sightlines so that you're always paranoid about what could be behind it. Hell, even the fact that the entrance is BEHIND you when you're at the desk is completely unnerving. Add to that a door to your right, just in your periphery and a window in front, which you can barely peak when sitting down... it's all just slightly off, enough to freak you out if you're susceptible Hell, the first time I saw this game being played by someone, I was amazed by how much the layout of the main room reminded me of the P.T. Hallway; with this much buildup, I wouldn't even have been mad at the game for having a jumpscare at the end

would be great phasmophobia use these real creepy moments, like things peeking on the corners or faces suddenly "staring at you" from windows or mirrors that show crap behind you. the door opening in the corner of the eye was just sublime.

Even just the way the research-station is shaped, the way the rooms are all slightly too big, giving off that liminal space vibe, the way the corners cut off sightlines so that you're always paranoid about what could be behind it. Hell, even the fact that the entrance is BEHIND you when you're at the desk is completely unnerving. Add to that a door to your right, just in your periphery and a window in front, which you can barely peak when sitting down... it's all just slightly off, enough to freak you out if you're susceptible
Hell, the first time I saw this game being played by someone, I was amazed by how much the layout of the main room reminded me of the P.T. Hallway; with this much buildup, I wouldn't even have been mad at the game for having a jumpscare at the end
