Hello and thank you for this tutorial. It is so nice to see someone such as your good self using the 'dissolve' blend mode to such great effect. As blend modes go, it can be so easily overlooked or even written off as useless but it most certainly isn't!
Hi Aaron, there is a quicker and much simpler way to make this dissolve effect to normal layer. You need to put a new empty layer (normal blend mode) underneath dissolved one, select those two layers and merge them together.
Finally a full packed video after a long time. Focusing on beginners, i thought Phlearn team is forgetting their old viewers that still want to see intermediate to advanced level content and new manipulations, techniques, etc but i hope this is just a beginning to take older viewers into consideration again. I haven't forgotten those insane videos topics such as Gods of Nile, making Aaron invisible with guitar etc
i want to say THANK YOU Aaron ,for TEACHING me what all these other big time "creators" charged me to learn. This is such a blessing yo. You are such a great person in this Photoshop and teaching world. I have been watching your videos for years and all i can say is that you my good sir will always be my favourite and most respected Teacher when it comes to Photoshop.
What a fortuitously-timed tutorial. I am processing a backlog of photos and in one shoot, the model did a "magic hands" pose and I though to myself, "Self? This calls for glowing sigils and a magic circle surrounding her." I even mocked up something, but once the circle was there, I had no idea what to do with it to make it do what I want. Then you guys came along. Thanks! I can't wait to get some time to put this one to use!
Often I find myself learning the most from the small things like "Layer Styles" as illustrated in this video! Thanks for providing theses tutorials frequently more in depth and better put together than paid content.
That is soooo cool. Gotta say. More than a year after paying for your course and trying my best to learn all these processes in photoshop, I’m still overwhelmed and find it difficult. Admittedly I haven’t put in as much time as I need to. But I will continue working on it! Because these results are fantastic!
Wow there were so many small things in there that I could use for all kinds of stuff. I don't "create" a lot in Photoshop but especially things like "blend if" are amazing!
It’s no claim to fame. But at least you thanked him for his video. The video which you clearly haven’t watched as it’s 38 mins long and JUST been posted. Whatevs.
Thanks for the great videos. can you please tell us what model of pressure sensitive tablet you are using? and also what you recommend for a budget choice?
dear lord this tute took me an entire day to work through! i am a beginner - hopefully i get faster with practice and less pedantic following each step exact. I also realised I started off this tutorial with a completely different brush so following the exact brush sizing in the end made the inner glow ring less visible in the end which is a shame.
@phlearn I just downloaded the zip package with the tutorial, but there is no custom brush, only one PSD file. I think that is a mistake. It says on the page, "You can follow along in the video to learn how we created the custom brush but, if you want to skip that process, the brush is available for free in the tutorial download."
Great video, good material, a signal to the observer that a composition can require work of great detail and mainly, the choice of the base image where the protrusions of the model allow to give an added twist to the imagination.
Question: I'm using the newest version of Photoshop (23.2.0) and I cannot find the Appearance Panel so I can adjust the fill and stroke of the shape ANYWHERE! Anyone know where it went?
Does anyone know where to download the pen for the particles? He brought it up in the video that it'll be downloaded but Im not seeing it in the comments
when i try to adjust the scale of the circle proportionately @7:50 it does it one sided regardless of whether i press shift or opt or command - something is weird!
Very very cool. And thanks for the beautiful model. The reason I don't watch Kelvin videos, is because I don't want to stare at some grungy dude for the duration of the tutorial.
Because then you won't have the same control. For example, he erased the glow from some places easily. But if you have layer styles on, then you can either erase the whole layer or you're limited to a layer style mask, which, obviously will remove any other layer styles too.
i don’t know, it feels very cheesy, even if all the detail is there. it just i was expecting something much more from phlearn than a cheesy instagram photo.. thanks for your time and effort though
true, but i feel like he was just showcasing the tools here. A full on photorealistic manipulation would probably take hours instead of 30 mins like this video.

This has been by far the best glow tutorial ever put on here. Not kidding

Likely the most epic tutorial in UA-cam history

Is there a reason we do multiple layer of blur for the glow instead of using the outer glow layer setting on the shape layer?
Love the video but When I followed the steps, after I created the circle, those side options didn't appear for me. What option is that?
That's the Properties tab! You can find it by going to Window > Properties.

Can you make a review video for the cinematic pictures and the colors for this movie👇
" The Lady Of heaven" 2M views at trailer
Does anyone know where to download the pen for the particles? He brought it up in the video that it'll be downloaded but Im not seeing it in the comments
I think you should decrease the saturation when you make things darker at the beginning
killer

What kind of brush was at 12:00?
holy moly 40mins???
Maybe use the black layer trick but then use the shortcut for current viewpoint to new layer and change the blend mode
Cant blend it into screen what to do?
Maybe a tutorial on the new logo too?
who's the model in the photo?
she's absolutely gorgeous.
I cannot create account through facebook on your website
For me the sky is a bit too bright. A gradient filter would be nice on the top.
But anyway... i love your tutorials! Thanks for that amazing chanel!👌🏻
When I do the cltr I to invert my selection my glow ring disappears completely.
I figured it out I had a gap between my rings and it through it off.
You've made a 10 min tutorial in to a 38 min tutorial =)))
Very very cool. And thanks for the beautiful model. The reason I don't watch Kelvin videos, is because I don't want to stare at some grungy dude for the duration of the tutorial.
First comment
Wooooooooooooooow
whaaaaaaaaaat year is iiiiiiiiiiiiiit
Why not use layer styles for the glow ring...surely this way is easier and a far less destructive way of creating this effect.
Because then you won't have the same control. For example, he erased the glow from some places easily. But if you have layer styles on, then you can either erase the whole layer or you're limited to a layer style mask, which, obviously will remove any other layer styles too.
Inhuman level confirmed!
Here's fun fact: if you want demons, like a helluva lot of em, just do yoga.
like
Wow, she has huge... chest!
i don’t know, it feels very cheesy, even if all the detail is there. it just i was expecting something much more from phlearn than a cheesy instagram photo.. thanks for your time and effort though
I think it is more about learning the techniques and working with shadows/highlighting than the end result of these videos.
^this

You talk too much
Haha
Why to create this glow effect? A photo looks unnatural and awful...
This went right over your head clearly.
