- Vídeo clip de nuestra travesía en mountain bike por las Highlands islandesas, en verano de 2015.
La intención era atravesar la isla de norte a sur, viajando en plena autonomía durante 10 días.
De esta aventura publicaremos muy pronto la crónica, con tracks para GPS y consejos prácticos para viajar por Islandia en bicicleta.

thank you, it is true, we filmed much more and edited a video about the traverse from north to south (not the rest of the trip, that was more interesting in our opinion), but the long video is more personal 😀 maybe one day we will get the courage and upload it here 😉 thanks again, best wishes!!!

+Federico Their Only Portrait muchas gracias, la verdad es que Islandia es un lugar muy especial, el tiempo no suele ser del todo apacible, sobre todo si viajas en bicicleta y por las Highlands, en el interior de la isla, siempre expuesto a los constantes cambios meteorológicos, el viento, el frío, la lluvia... pero la verdad es que nos encanta "perdernos" por estos solitarios desiertos volcánicos
+conunparderuedas el paisaje es increíble y espero poder visitarlo en bicicleta algún día... el clima se parece bastante al que tenemos en Tierra del Fuego abajo en la Patagonia. Hace una semanas me toco pedalear con mucho viento, frio (-5ºC), y nieve en pleno verano :)

totalmente de acuerdo, con la leve diferencia de que en Tierra del Fuego, si no recuerdo mal, la dirección del viento es más "predecible"
en Islandia, en cambio, puede soplar de cualquier parte y cambiar en cualquier momento
espero que algún día pueda yo volver a pedalear por la Patagonia... y que tú descubras los encantos naturales de Islandia, porque no todo es viento :-)
Hola conunparderuedas, es correcto, en Tierra del Fuego el viento suele tener una direccion establecida y generalmente no cambia... pero eso hace que a veces tengas cientos de kilometros con viento en contra :(
Espero que Uds puedan volver a Patagonia y yo tenga la oportunidad de concer Islandia :)

So I was watching the video and at 0:41 I immediately recognised the landscape. The beginning scene of Prometheus is shot exactly here, even with the same angle. You should check it out (prometheus engineer sacrifice scene).

Nice Video thanks. Not a real Bikepacking-Setup but it does not have to be. Biketouring in classic style is not so popular these days 😸. And Bikepacking is not the best choice for a couple of days in this environment.
thank you, yes, panniers are a little off these days, but they will be back, for sure! 😁 sometimes when i see bikepackers with 17 different bags on the bike i guess how long it will take them to add small panniers to the set... but actually some of them started to do that 😉
@@conunparderuedas the minipanniers these days are such a funny thing and not to forget a bag for three Snickers or Marsbars... Some people are just trendvictims and if they do not feel how hard the squeezing in the morning is, they are maybe not outdoors often or long enough. So we go ahead with comfy classic style bags on larger tours and they look good, stylish minibags are something for the fashionvictims.

yes they are Ogres, they belong to the 2013 vintage ;-) so they are now 7 years old and with a lot of good stories to tell but completely healthy and young in spirit
we use them for traveling in these kind of routes, they are very polyvalent, also mountain bike and singletracks in the Pyrenees, where we live

@@conunparderuedas I use it mainly as a bikepacking rig with 3" tires. I've put just shy of 3k miles on it to date. I built it from the frame up. I also had a Straggler, that I also built from the frame up but sold it after only a few months, the geometry wasnt conducive to my bikepacking/riding style. I've since built up a Salsa Fargo Ti. That bike is simply amazing...

Amelia was wearing spd shoes with rain covers, yes, but I (Sergio) took my winter shoes, Northwave Artic Commuter, they have a very wide temperature range
my point was: "these are my winter shoes in Barcelona, and in Iceland the temperatures during the summer are very similar to the winter temperatures at home", so... that was my third time cycling in Iceland and the first I didn't suffer from cold feet :-)

últimamente hemos estado usando una Sony Handycam HDR CX740
creo que es del 2012 (la estrenamos en el viaje de los Alpes) porque la anterior (de cinta, todavía) se estropeó en los Atlas
la CX740 va muy bien para grabar en movimiento porque su óptica estabiliza. lo que no va tan bien es cuando la pones en el trípode y haces un plano con el zoom al máximo, pues vibra mucho con el viento y suele cambiar el plano, quizá sólo unas micras, pero lo suficiente para desencuadrar
el audio es bastante bueno (la usamos sin micro añadido)
personalmente, creo que hicimos una buena compra
no sé si sigue en el mercado o ahora hay otros modelos similares
+Sete CR hola, es una Sony HDR CX740
la tenemos desde 2012, creo recordar, y va muy bien en general
tiene un estabilizador mecánico en la óptica, crea un efecto de steadycam
el único problema es que cuando haces zoom in al máximo, si la dejas en el trípode, al cabo de unos segundos de fijarla, con el plano ya elegido, deriva ligeramente y desencuadra :-( hay que preverlo y estar atento en ese tipo de tomas

que carpa utilizan?
hola Diego, para Islandia compramos una tienda algo más grande que la que hemos utilizado en otros viajes. allí los desniveles son menores y no es tan vital el peso. por contra, sí conviene que sea muy resistente al viento, al agua y que tenga espacio suficiente para cocinar dentro del avancé, y lugar para dejar las cosas, tender algo de ropa, etc. después de mucho buscar, escogimos una tienda de túnel Vango Pulsar 200, nos costó algo menos de 200 euros, y nos fue muy bien, quedamos muy contentos. es fácil de montar, pesa casi 3 kg, pero es muy espaciosa, confortable y estable incluso bajo vientos fuertes. si estás pensando en un viaje por Islandia, quizá te interesen los posts del blog sobre el tema: conunparderuedas.blogspot.com.es/2016/01/highlands-islandesas.html

we wanted to go south in the F88 to Dreki and then continue on the F910 but in 2015 the F910 between Dreki and Nyidalur remained closed to traffic at least until the day we were there, and it was already august :-( next time we will try to do that part and skip lake Myvatn
