Excellent instructor!!!! She is not condescending or arrogant. She wants the listener to learn and enjoy! "The sky is the limit!". The method of letting the stick bounce off the head with a relaxed feel makes drumming sound so much better and musical. This is exactly what Joe Morello always said.
I've been playing since the 60's and I am still learning and practicing. This is the fun part. I always discover that my body knows something that my brain doesn't.
My belief is the drum set is not an attack weapon. It is the heartbeat of the band. This is why I prefer to listen to Joe Morello, Jeff Hamilton or Jerry Granelli instead of Buddy Rich.
Something else that should be covered that I don't see in any videos is the type of sticks and the differences they make in the sound of the ride cymbals, particularly in where they touch the cymbal and at which angle.
I'm happy to see that I've always set up my drum set, cymbal placement and heights and angles of everything exactly like she has hers. I must be doing something right.
