Excellent done Alex. Greetings from Greece mate! I am 54 right now and these cars are the images of my youth. None left today running but the memories are priceless. People like you, that preserve and maintain are what the world needs. Screw new models. We are old school.
Well done for persevering with this, I wasn’t hopeful given how long it’d been stood but it seems to turn freely and hopefully you’ll get it started for us in the next episode.
Really, I'm excited to see this car going again. My mum and grandpa both had 104 SL's from 1977, and these survived until the late 1990's before the bodywork expired. Its such a shame I was not then in a position to save them. Now, there are none left to save...😢
Good work Alex . May I suggest changing engine oil ASAP. I have a renault 14 as I used to have in the 80s. The cam lobes are forced oil fed via the rockers underneath through pin holes and need clean oil at high pressure. The life of these engines. So best of luck😊
People ...and I'm one of them ..hope the battery is still like new .....I had micras ...as everyday cars ...and the longest new batteries lasted was 7 yrs ...one of them was Yuasa ...a proven make ..even ...well said your comment
Well done Alex! I was convinced you were just undoing the crank nut at first, as we couldn't see anything moving. Glad it was actually turning. The tight spot may have been a tight valve or crud not wanting to compress at the top of one of the cylinders. It might be worth blowing out the cylinders if you can. Once all is ok you might want to check the tightness of the crank bolt. That attempted start with the spanner attached might have shocked it loose. That engine layout isn't exactly user friendly, is it? Good luck with it, I hope the next part goes as well. Mart.
I watch so many of these try to start videos and it never ceases to amaze me how many have poor batteries. I always take the sump off, not just the sump plug out and have a charger on the battery even if new the whole time.
A nice little project. Your car reminds me very much of my ‘94 Fiat Panda, sold earlier this year. The Peugeot 104 can still be found in France although they are becoming scarce. Prices range from a few hundred to several thousand Euros for the go faster models.
I guess it's all about patience! Great job! I have never owned one of these French cars, but they seem so cool. I can't wait for more on this car. Your last video was the first time watching the channel, I subscribed right away... Cheers from Canada, Rob.

Well done getting the engine free, the expelled fluid was more GBH than murder she wrote.

I'm going to be returning the battery. I'd literally just bought it and it doesnt seem to be holding a charge :(
Huzzah!
Nice job there, I was saying "take the spanner off" at the screen when you cranked it 😂
Fingers crossed she fires right up next time.
You'd have the engine on the bench....😊

More patience than me with the spanner, I’d have put it in reverse and rocked it back and forth to do that. Good work tho
See if the camper wasn't taking up your time, you too could be having fun like this 😅
Its many a year since I've seen suppressors on a spark plug.
