Even down to your thumbnails and videos being efficient and minimalist. Also, nice audio upgrade!

    Thanks alot man! This really resonates with me, I turned 18 recently, and I've decided to study 3 courses over the next 2 years to go to uni them being: Further maths, Physics, and A Level Math. I'm really on the fence and worried about messing up my trajectory on life and I want to make the right decision, especially since I've never worked before, but that ending segment where everyone is still learning and its ok to change, really boosts my confidence to give it my all. Its like you said, better to try and fail, than to look back when your old and be disappointed

    I really appreciate this video, thank you. I definitely understand the "what's next" perception once meeting a goal. This is my freshman year of undergrad, and I started in Physics, but I realized that while I enjoy physics, I enjoy a lot of electrical and computer engineering topics, so this semester [practically over now] I transferred into ECE. I will probably get a physics minor because I'm only 2 courses away, but more importantly the ECE course I took this semester was by far my favorite course so far. It was a Digital Circuits/Logic/Systems [name differs by each uni] which is a beginners CE course, although I know I gravitate more towards subfields of EE.
    I know I want a Masters degree, but am actively considering PhD so long as I have a specialization. But finding that focus area seems so hard to me. Like I said, early in my UG, so I haven't gotten much exposure to many topics, but I've done a very superficial dive into many subfields. I love the idea of focusing on RF, RF IC, Telecommunications, IC, Circuits, Microelectronics, VLSI, Photonics, there's probably more I'm blanking on, etc. While I don't have the coursework or intern or research experience, they all sound exciting. How did you know what focus area was the one?

    • @alithedazzling

      Honestly it was so hard to focus on just one. All the ones you listed are super cool. The way I chose it is combining what I like with what I had around me that was good. For example I found a professor who was very talented in telecommunications, so I chose that

I had been experiencing a lot of doubt because teachers always say do what you love and you'll be fine but that really is not good advice. Your advice in this video is gold.
    I should be graduating high school with an associates in engineering and then transferring to a college to get a bachelors in electrical engineering. Since you are deep in your electrical engineering journey, I was wondering if you could answer a question I have been having. Does the college where I get my bachelors in electrical engineering matter? Will the college I get this degree in affect my ability to find a job down the road? My parents are not paying for my college and I really do not want to take out student loans. I am trying to find colleges that are affordable. Hey, I have a question that kinda has to do with something you were saying at the beginning of the video about making your school decision. Personally, I am not 100% set on a major but I am leaning towards electrical engineering right now. I got in to UIUC, NCSU, and Chapel Hill. Though Chapel is my favorite college, it doesn't have engineering so the idea of ditching engineering makes me cross it out. UIUC is top 5 for Electrical engineering, but it is very expensive at 60k a year (34k more than NC State). My parents are willing to pay my costs, however, its a large investment so I don't want to waste their money. Most people have told me to go to NCSU bc it has a really great engineering program at a lower cost than UIUC, do you agree? If I am to determine that engineering/electrical engineering isn't for me, I hope that I can transfer to a college like UNC and do something else. I feel like if I go to uiuc for 1-2 years and determine that engineering isn't for me, transferring will be a waste of 120k (and this isn't a realistic option)...

    • @alithedazzling
      @alithedazzling  Рік тому +1

      I would agree that NCSU would probably be better if its way cheaper -- that way less pressure on you and your parents. Also I went to a state school and that gave me freedom to be surrounded by other normal people and it just made college more fun. I think your intuition is right and you already know -- but if you want my blessing then go for it :-)

    • @Goat-qd4tj
      @Goat-qd4tj Рік тому

      @@alithedazzling Yeah I chose NCSU. The reason I took so long is the competitive culture at my school, and I just wanted to go to uiuc/chapel to prove that I performed really highly in high school to family and peers. Ik this feeling will eventually go away but this is the trap that I almost fell into. It does, however, makes me reconsider the significance of the amount of time I invested into studying for the SAT and getting a's.

    I’m 20 years old and I’m seriously considering changing from a music major to an electrical engineering major. It’s not necessarily just for money. I want to go into the field because I find the idea of being an electrical engineer very intriguing. I want to be able to contribute to the world in a concrete way. I also love the idea of designing circuits and ultimately finding creative solutions for various problems.
    The only thing is that my math skills are subpar, mainly due to circumstances when I was in 9th grade. I missed out on the fundamentals of math, which is not great. I’ve been teaching myself a lot of what I missed though, and I’m definitely willing to put the work in, and then some. I just ultimately realized that being an audio engineer alone probably wouldn’t be a fulfilling path for me, and that the music program generally felt uninspiring. I still love music, and plan to mix and record songs regardless. I may even work on audio hardware, who knows? In any case, I still feel very behind. I took a gap year because I was so unfocused that I didn’t apply to colleges in time. Regardless, I’m going to do my best to succeed.
