I am 68 and started watching videos like this last year and joined in (in the privacy of my own home with the curtains closed) over the course of the year I lost 10 inches off my waist and 20kg in weight.

This is awesome. Reminds me of when I was painting a house for an old lady once. She told me the story of how she and her best friend used to dance the Charleston at the bus stop in the winter, to stay warm while waiting for the bus. Her mom went by once in the family car, saw that, and was HORRIFIED. She got in huge trouble when she got home from college classes that afternoon, with her mom calling her a "loose hussy". This sweet old lady laughed . . . and laughed . . . and had a devious twinkle in her eye through the whole story. I'll never forget that interaction.

I see comments like "so far the moves are pretty basic" and I think they don't get it. But I do, I used to dance like this.. a kind of energetic double beat while everyone else was doing the slow groovy-cool graceful hip-sway snake dance thing. And I used to think .. why do I love dancing like this? Like almost in the air! And so I felt self conscious and tried to join the groovy hip-swing. Now I'm older, I just keep coming back to these videos - as I totally get it - wishing electro swing was there in my day, because I loved that dance, that energetic double timing. And no one even had a name for it then. What the critics fail to see is she combines both the energy and the grace (wrote that before I noted her name). To perfection. The genius caricature artist makes simple lines come alive by seeing how your brain interprets shape. She does with with movement.

In the martial arts, there is an old expression - Even the most advanced black belt was once a beginner.
Because most people watch so much television, I think they get used to expensive, highly polished performances. Most of the dancers you see on television dance as their full time jobs, and they have spent years practicing.
It's not reasonable to expect a part time, amateur dancer to dance with the skill of a seasoned pro. But most people get disconnected from reality.
Honestly, I think this is one reason there are so many car accidents. When you watch television, no matter how scary the bad guy is, or the monster, you know whatever is on that screen can't hurt you. A windshield is about the same shape as a television screen. So people with poor critical thinking skills let themselves drift into - I don't have to give driving 100 percent of my attention. I can check my phone, send a text note to a friend.
But with driving, just 1, 2, 3 seconds of not paying attention can mean an accident, bam!
If it helps, a lot of this dancing is borrowed from house music...it's called shuffle step.
This young woman is awesome in so many ways---she seems to be genuinely happy as she dances (I've seen her on another video, and she's the same way there when dancing), and she dresses in a way that doesn't have half her body exposed. That's something I very much appreciate, preferring modesty to body parts flapping in the wind. And yes, her movements are very smooth and very fluid---and I wish dearly that I could dance like her!

Our 2023 started with us losing our Daughter Chellia to cancer. I came back to this because it was the only thing that helped when lost our son. We had two kids and have now lost both. Keep making your videos they help more people than you will ever know get thought terrible times. I enjoy your short videos. It’s her stillness that’s impressive. Well, that, and of course, her movement. And the smile? Wow, that doesn’t hurt. Come to think of it, simplicity, authenticity and an apparent total lack of hubris, pedanticism and punctiliousness is pretty darn refreshing. But really? It’s her stillness that’s impressive . . .
Big words that most people seldomly use today. But I agree, these moves are very simple and straight-forward. And yet, she looks like she's having fun! I want to get up and dance with her. I do like JSM - Sven Otten and TSC - Forsythe, but Ms. Grace Thomas here dancing is wonderful. Those former two motivate me to dance, and Grace reminds me that the number one thing about dancing is, above all things, having fun.
Know absolutely nothing about this young woman. However, I must confess I do like her steppin.

I love Grace's videos because they are so joyful. I first found Octavia Rose because of Sven of JustSomeMotion and the song Delight, looking for more Octavia Rose, I found the adorable and infectiously energetic Grace Annette. Overall, time well spent.

She either hides her fatigue really well, or she's incredibly fit because she doesn't appear to be tired at all - after 3 minutes of really energetic dancing. I wouldn't have made it 30 seconds! Ahhh.... youth!

Within seconds of starting to dance i was smiling. Electro-swing became my new favorite genre of music within the last year and i love dancing to it at work, home, wherever. It's nice to see someone else that quite obviously gets the groove and enjoys it like i do.

I'm pretty sure I've commented before, but this is so sweet and some great dancing. The reason I watch it so many times is because because it's so well constructed and wholesome. So wholesome. I'm pretty sure I've said wholesome before. Damn, if I was thirty years younger, well, I'd be younger. Damn good video and dancing. I hope you make it to whatever dancing career there is out there. I am sure your classes will always be full after this video. I am sure your students will be jealous as hell, and it's something to show your kids and that weird uncle who is in the corner clapping. Hi Guys - After our last 2nd place, we worked harder on our robot and made some changes. The school would no longer support us with this project, so we had to do this with our own funds inbetween class. I personally haven't slept since the last video. The school made us disable the comments section on the last video, as they weren't happy about us talking about the Science Fair. Anyway, this is version 2.0 - hopefully this is better than last time. I thought about making a smaller Aibo sized bluetooth version that could be sold in stores, but the teachers said nobody would be interested. Anyway, it took a great deal of time to make 2.0 - it kept falling over - I found adding socks made it alot more stable. Anyway, let me know what you think. Thanks

There is this book about a popular trouble maker falling in love with an odd artsy girl, an outcast by those time’s standard. The girl although odd to me gave the impression that she was an excelente dancer and her “weird” dance was this, a dance those people didn’t know and made fun of her for. It wasn’t until she forgot those memories with the guy and his friends that she showed her dancing ability. You remind me of that character from that book. The girl was a dancer, like you she just didn’t know it. It looks awesome btw, I wish I know how to dance.
