Is The Subaru WRX STI Ultimate Enthusiast Daily Driver?

  • 👋 My friend finally bought one of hid favorite cars! Let's drive his newly punches Subaru WRX STI and talk about what makes it the ultimate daily driver geared towards the enthusiast driver! He used to own the normal Subaru WRX and at the time that was the perfect car. After selling the WRX to go into flight school to become a pilot, he is now back in the game with this beautiful blue STI and is enjoying the upgrade! In todays video we talk a lot about how the Subaru WRX compares to the more performance oriented version, the Subaru WRX STI. This 2019 STI is a great car and still retains a ton of the practicality that the WRX has. They are both same car with plenty of room for 5 people, a big trunk and the AWD system. The STI is noticeably faster and actually can put you back in your seat. The STI also has much better brakes that really bring the car down to a stop. The 6 piston Brembo brakes in the front calipers along with the Brembo brakes in back are a fantastic upgrade. The differential in the STI is adjustable with a control in the car and it lets you decide how much power you want to the front wheels and rear wheels. The drive modes also help adjust boost levels and throttle response. All of those aspects really make the Subaru WRX STI a step up in the performance world and are noticeable out in the mountain roads. The Subaru WRX is more of a sporty economy car that is very basic with brakes, suspension and doesn't have any drive modes. You really just get the peppy Boxer engine. So as a daily the WRX is still better with its lower cost, better gas mileage and more comfortable suspension. But if you want the same kind of car with very minimal sacrifices for daily driving, and want the enthusiast car, the WRX STI has all the real performance gains to make this a perfect blend! Connors sold his WRX to go into flight school, and now that he is a pilot he bought his dream car again! The WRX STI is a great car for his new chapter of life where he can really use the performance side of the STI and still have the practical side of the WRX. So if you want a great daily drivable sportscar with more pep then a boring car, the WRX is perfect. But if you want that extra performance, the STI is a great option! I had a blast driving the STI in the country roads and it truly is a solid car! 🏎

    I have a 2020 STI bone stock and my son has a Type R modded but I feel that my STI is just feels better. My wife has an RCF but I still prefer my STI. When it’s pouring rain their cars cannot even come close. It’s just have that feeling that you just cannot explain. It’s the old school feeling that that it gives me every time I drive it.

    I've always been a fan of the WRX, and the STI is really impressive. The fact that it's a sports car, but also a good all year vehicle is really nice. Not all cars of this nature can be driven in the snow like a WRX can. That means confidence all around.
    Though, I doubt you get much snow where you are, but up North here, this car would be great to have.

    I have owned 4 different Subaru STIs. I currently own a 2020 white pearl limited model and let me confirm what he says is truly on point. I’ve owned 12 cars in my life including a BRZ Ts, ND2 Miata and a 2018 WRX. The Subaru STI just speaks to me. It just fits me like a glove. The other cars were great but I am a firm believer that If I didn’t grab the last of the EJs I would regret it. They won’t make cars like this ever again. It’s the last of the great cars as we move into the electronic era. The car feels old school and that’s exactly the reason I love it and find it unique. It’s also gained so much value in the market! I’m not letting go of this beauty ever.

    Got my grey 2021 STI in September and my thoughts exactly on the value of the car is truly what you feel and get out of it and I personally will always have this car in my inventory considering this is the last year of the old EJ engine and the infamous hydraulic steering since the 2022 is shifting to a Subaru global platform and moving to electronic steering instead, which I am not a fan of. Thanks guys and congrats on completing pilot school Conner and as Brian said, "it's only up from here!"

    Tbh the extra 10k is not worth it. Not unless you spend another 10k to tune and unleash the actual potential so in the end of the day you’re dropping 50-60k for a 4banger. I’d rather have a Supra. Just being honest.

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  2 роки тому +1

      Keep in mind this is a $33k car. Not $50k+ like a Supra. But also, the STI holds it's value over the WRX. So you will retain more value then a modified WRX. If you're going to use the extra performance it's worth the increase in price. If not, then I'd stick with a WRX. But a new WRX is about the same as this used STI. I'd take the miles to get the better car

      @@BrosFOURRSpeed I’ve owned a 2018 wrx and now a 2019 STi. I can’t justify the extra money unless I’m talking to people saying I got the STi. They feel pretty much identical if all you’re doing is driving normally. However that said if you wanna track it or take it to the dirt you’re gonna need to dump more money to unlock that potential, that’s what I’m saying. By then you’ll just be dropping around 50k for a 4 cylinder. Pro tuners here want about 8,000 to add a j pipe a tune and roughly 40hp. Don’t get me wrong I love my car, I just don’t see the price being justified is all. 30-33k new yes. Not 40-42k new that’s a bit steep imo. One thing I will say.. when it rains I am a happy driver.
