- As the owner of three of the previous generations of STI’s, we were really looking forward to driving this 2021 WRX STI, and it didn’t disappoint. These cars have so much personality, starting with their distinct 2.5 litre Dual Overhead Cam 16-valve 4-cylinder boxer engines.
These cars feels a bit like a tool watches. Dive watches are meant for diving, this car is meant for driving. Both do a great job at what they’re designed to do.
There are pluses and minuses to the STI, but if you’re looking for lots of usable, practical, relatively affordable, entertaining, enthusiast, all-season, all-wheel drive performance, the STI should definitely be on your shopping list.

I was able to grab a new 2021 Black STI! So happy with It!
I bought my first Subaru STI in 2023, amazing handling, spectacular drifting. I mean it is only 6" long but the Kyosho Mini Z WRX is the best.
Really want to get my hands on a 2020 or 2021 model with less than 15k miles!

I loved my 06 WXR, when you hit the turbo it would take off. The thing was like on rails in the curves. Then I bought a 08 . More comfortable a bit. But I should have drove it harder testing it out. Sucked cornering I'm sure it wouldn't out run my06 and definitely not in the corners. Just my 2 cents on the WRX. Wish I had my old one back.
Which winter tires are the best for the STI?
Ive been up all night watching WRX reviews because im about to buy a 2022 WRX.
Currently with a 2019 WRX, looking for an upgrade to an STI in a year or 2, if the STI is anything close to the new WRX, i think i will be going to something old instead.
2006 Subaru Wrx STI was bout 3,200-3,300 pounds. 1999 STI GC8 is around 2,800-2900ish. FYI.
I would put FP Black on it- it would extend engines life! For real ! Small turbo- high torque is what bad, big turbo- lower torque and mo powa baby!

I wish I could've got my hands on one them sense they've stopped making the sti the prices have skyrocket
