It's been almost 3 months since my breakup. My ex was severely damaged because of her previous abusive relationship. I thought I could fix her by treating her incredibly well and being there for her emotionally, but I was completely wrong. You can't fix a partner, they have to want to fix themselves. Anyways, my ex basically told me I treated her too well and she didn't deserve it. She immediately got into a relationship with a sleazeball who is currently cheating on her (she's aware and is still with him)... truth be told, I was probably monkey-branched. Regardless, the whole thing is too crazy for me. I'm a good guy who would never cheat or hurt anyone, and I treated her like a queen. I know my value and I now realize I don't deserve drama like that. I don't know what the future holds, but I will never invest my heart into another damaged woman again.

My ex was a caregiver to me while I was reliving trauma and dissociating over the holidays. I had been sexually assaulted back in Sept by someone else. I made mistakes. I guilt tripped, controlled and pushed him away out of fear. I wasn't ready to be in a relationship. I've been doing self work for the last 3 months since he left. I'm in trauma therapy and getting my life together It has taken a long time to get to a place where I understand how he feels without blaming myself. I hope after no contact, I can show him I have let go of those trauma response behaviors. That I have let go of manipulation and controlling behaviors and that I'm working every day to find more and more coping techniques to replace them. If he gave us another chance, I would make sure those things never happened again. He has his own part in our breakup but I have forgiven him. Time to forgive myself fully too ❤

Hi guys, watching all the way from South Africa.... It's pity that being a good person is often interpreted as being weak. Most people watching your videos [including myself] are people who have thrived to be excellent partners in their relationships - but were dumped because they were deemed "too good; or boring". It has to mean they must be bad people to attract their partners back.

We can't generalize all breakups, but:
A relationship is not about "being good". And this thought in itself is faulty, as you interpret yourself as being good. If you're missing emotional connection, intimacy, physical attraction and love, one thing from "being good" is left and that is being a decent human - which is not enough for a relationship.

Thank goodness my girlfriend and I were still together when my father passed, I don’t think I would have gotten through my days without her around. But when the pandemic hit and we were not able to see each other as much, my anxiety kicked in and my separation attachment got worse, to the point where I was getting mad with her through text and she could see it, and she couldn’t take it anymore.

Sounds like he never left the nest. When he lost his mom, it not only crushed him but likely made him inherently fearful. Moreover, his girlfriend doesn't want to be the new security blanket or beck and call girl either. He was not ready for that kind of relationship...just not equipped with the life lessons, the knowledge, or ability to do so. Losing your mom hurts...losing her when you haven't attained your autonomy or cultivated your own identity...even worse. She's better off and may find someone else more secure. This guy just dropped some serious $$$ to have a session with these three out of codependent desperation rather than an introspective desire to better himself.

I tend to lose self control at times and would take it out on my ex (what you call displacement) and she would tell me so many times not to and to watch myself. She would tell me to take a breath first and calm down before I start talking to her. She had told me in the beginning of the relationship that her father is the same way and she didn’t want another man in her life like that. To be honest, I had made some progress on that situation throughout our relationship, but I would slip up once in a while.

Along with Margaret’s 5 cents, the girl friend did what she can for them emotionally and you all said she is exhausted at this point, she also needs to have someone strong for her emotional support and seeing him breakdown, she may have lost the attraction or respect for him as the man she needs In her life...he needs to take care of himself first then she will come back I think

So I set up a date with my ex gf d but she came with an excuse that she's busy. I think I have to let it go. I'm trying my best to meet up but it's not working and I'm super busy.I said okay and she said honestly you can come see me since I wanted to talk. And she told me I should get a hotel instead of staying in her place.I'm not getting emotional but I might change my mind and just call her and see what she wants instead of wasting money on flight and hotel and barely get to see her. I feel like I'm forcing to see her and she just not interested.

I wish i could understand where shes coming from more and if theres any hope left for our relationship. I got the "you deserve someone better" speech too a couple yrs ago and honestly, I think it's a BS line people use when they aren't interested in you anymore and/or found someone they like better. It's a cop out "nice" saying that people use to not hurt your feelings. I didn't go awww he really cares about me and my happiness, I was pissed and annoyed I got a cliche breakup line and never talked to him again.
