She is my role model! I have passion for science, exactly for immunology, gene engineering. She encouraged me by her speech from Nobel Minds. I realized that I don't have to be a daughter of professors and was born in a developed country, I still have an opportunity to study in the top universities and work in a lab with modern facilities. And you too, cuz you're reading a comment for a video like that, not just an entertainment one😊 it means you also interested in, don't you?

You are right on target! All the best as you move forward and pursue your interests in the sciences! My mom was a scientist when the anti female discrimination was really bad, but she kept on going!

Life is beautiful blessing, what you dedicate your time for needs to be special, special for you.
Doing and investing time in something that you love is the utmost pleasure. Science is so unpredictable and one doesn’t always get appreciation on rightly deserves. Only those who are doing science because they want to and love to for they see the value in investigating and contributing to Science will achieve such remarkable success in long term. I wish to discovery something so beneficial for humankind. The Noble prize recognition will be great! 🎉All the hard work is worth it!
Good luck to people keep going. Everything is possible to accomplish with right mindset and learning zeal.

It’s exciting to hear from Dr. Kariko how her team discovered that modifying uridine the right way opened the door to using mRNA so effectively to have our cells make new proteins of all kinds. And just a week ago I got my first BioNTech Covid 19 vaccine for protection while traveling soon, which is the fruit of Dr. Kariko’s great research! Kudos to Dr. Kariko, and many thanks to her for her groundbreaking work that has already saved tens of millions of lives. Bravo!

cant even count how many times she got demoted 💔💔💔💔 this is such a shame that academia treats great scientists or our scientists in general like a replacable object just because they cant secure grants/funding, y'all chose to be dead (contracted infectious diseases) than giving more appreciation (re: funding) for them, while cheap people on tiktok make millions, we need a new system

It's crazy for me how she could've been just without funding and means to continue her research. Academia should really reassess the way it chooses what matters to fund. Not every not-so-good research at a first glance is really not so good...

Katalin's career story is truly inspiring. The moniker 'Iron Lady' is often conferred to wannabe dictators like Thatcher. In my view its more apt for icons like Katalin.
