I stood transfixed, in Cheltenham, UK watching the band and Steve do EXACTLY this .... it took my breath away.. and watching it again, I can feel the “headless chicken” excitement and cataclysmic explosion of the moment, all over again. Amazing. This is the BEST train song, ever.. and anyone that can rhyme “TRANGS”[trains) with “THANGS”. ( things) deserved an Oscar fer authenticity!
My fave song from the "Mountain" album. Real road music, truck window open, cruisin down the highway to....where? Cool to see the guys live, a real traditional bluegrass band, and one mike!
Steve Earle is the vocal equivalent of Elmer Fudd on downers. Love Mike Bub and the guys. I just wonder what Jean thought if Steve and his vocabulary. Dishes the boss....just ask anyone....
@nilradem "Unless it is a song about a murder on a train. Get both requirements in one song. Can't actually think of any." Actually, "Flowers in the Dell" by Fred Eaglesmith!
Good call, though not bluegrass it is close enough. i had a couple NRPS albums on vinyl, but none on CD. Haven't listened to them in a while. Will have to fix that! Thanks for the reminder.
I am sitting on a train right now listening to a song about a train...
Love it! ❤

Where is the audience? This is some of the best music around.....and I've been around
Nothing better than a bluegrass song about a train.

A great performance. I wish they would do another album together!
"Now-a-days they don't make no trains, just some piggy-back freighters and them Amtrak things".
