We haven't had a horror based Holografitti episode in a while. This was highly refreshing.
Yes it was. Animators get to flex their visual storytelling. I think Japan has some tradition linking horror and summer. Being up late at night at vacation telling each other scary stories, maybe? Someone that knows more should verify and clarify.

@@oscarnemo8084 Yep, it's a buddhist-festival called "O-bon", a time period mid August where the deceased apparently roam the earth. People tend to stay indoors during rainy nights and tellspooky stories.
@@oscarnemo8084 you are correct, it's less of a tradition and more like an activity that you could do during summer where you gather at nighttime in a small group with everyone bringing their own candle stands. when a person finishes their story they have to snuff their candle and pass the baton to the next person until every candle is snuffed
I know this because I did a similar thing with a group in the past, except it's in a rainforest campsite during off season, one of us got possessed and we got to held a few cleansing rituals before everyone can get home
This is your yearly reminder that the hologra team is actually cracked at making horror.
Seriously good at ramping up the tension 'slowly' over a 2-4 minute short before hitting you with the reveal.
Really, Hologra is insane for being such a snapshot of Hololive as a whole; absurd nonsense, puns, and risque material briefly spotted with reminders that the girls really are idols... and that some of them really love their horror.

It is a technique originally used by professional voice actors to express emotion with breathing sounds.
It is also used to reproduce breathing during exercise, and to match lip-sync with voice-overs in other languages.
For example, watch 0:33〜 0:45 .
When she turns around, you can see that she clearly pronounces her breath as a sound.

I really liked this episode! I think the short film thriller aspect was really good, and I'd honestly love to see more. It was very different from the usual chaotic hologra.

That was a standard horror trope, but done very cleanly and effectively. They made good use of Kobo's model.
