Roast Chicken on the Cobb

  • Here I will demonstrate how I make a Roast Chicken on my Cobb. All you need for this is a whole chicken, garlic, onion, salt, pepper and butter. With a side of corn on the cob and coleslaw.

    I can confirm that this chicken was amazing and very moist. It was hard not to eat all the meat while filming but we did leave enough for the others. Great video Jules. 👍🏻

    Well done. Obviously all that "down-time", whilst the chicken is doing its stuff under the Cobb's lid, gives the Chef an opportunity to do a taste-test on the bottle of sauvignon blanc which has been gently chilling in anticipation. And when that is finished, a bottle of Prosecco or Champagne. Tomorrow - reds to accompany that joint of beef.
    One of the best things about Caravanning is the opportunity to buy locally. So for me that might mean using a butcher like Radfords (Sleights, near Whitby), Cockburns (Bedale) or the in store butchery at Campbell's in Leyburn (where there is also a magnificent selection of wines, whiskies etc on the first floor)!

    Nice stuff.
    You didn't need this this time because you did the corn in the cooker, but I learnt a super-dooper way to do corn on the cob.
    A pan with enough water so the cobs will float.
    Bring it to a thorough boil.
    Plunge the corn's in and put the lid on the pan.
    Then take the pan straight off the heat.
    Exactly 5 minutes later you have perfectly cooked corn on the cob. You can give it a quick char if you want to, only takes a couple of minutes.

    What base did you put your chicken roasting stand on mate

      Good question and I am thinking back but I would probably have used the base with draining holes in it. I have even watched the vlog back to try remember. As long as its flat and balanced you wont go far wrong. Good luck if you attempt one..it does work really well.. Jules

    Loving the series but the name does not match the quality of the videos. Tin to Tum seems to suggest a tin of sardines in a sandwich and it’s much more than that. Please take this as positive feedback, we really enjoy this series and long may it continue 😄👍🏻 Trev

    After a great deal of thought......we do not think you ate doing yourself justice. The food you are (and have cooked) cooking is good fresh wholesome food.
    Tin to tum gives out the wrong vibe in our opinion......yes its catchy but your food is far better than the title.
