WOW! This was the most dynamic ,and best court scene, of Steven's, interrogating Hannah. He was superb. And about the best scene in all of this series✌
Hold the presses. BOMBSHELL revelation from Hannah. I thought Rod's trial was the big case, but this case is the case, of all cases. Wonderfully written plot here. Didn't see that curve coming, at all.
Wow! I am impressed the writers finally had Hannah tell the truth about who was the real mother of Ann and Steven. Ruth Warrick was terrific in her scene. We have waited so long for the truth to come out. Now we have to wait to find out (if ever) how Ann died: accident or murdered?
It's a shame we didn't see more of Catherine Peyton depicted, both the latter day, and in flashback. What a wicked character, much like "Rebecca!" Murdered her husband's lover, had an affair that resulted in twins, and Daddy and others clean up the mess.
Maybe wishes he could bash some skulls.I'm sure Steven Oliver would've,the "Hell's Angel" and sounds like all around macho guy.How anyone could want him in their life is beyond me.
Thank goodness this episode was found after I reported it missing from the list, although I did keep watching it but as I didn’t see this I had to guess what happened so a big thank you to soapsnthings
Interesting that Hannah actually grew to love Steven though he was not her natural son, but Martin Peyton never accepted Steven, even though his mother was a Peyton. And Ann, too...
Oh my...and the plot thickens lol...just when you don't think it can get any juicer. What's funny...this show keeps you on the edge of your seat without the sex, swearing, gun violence, blowing up cars and people, dressing like hookers, etc. . all the common things that you see on t.v. today.
In essence, she became the defacto Mrs Peyton. Martin is closer to her than even family members. I felt sorry for her. Really sorry. I also have disgust for Martin because of how long it was covered up, and how essential for the “image” to be kept instead of reality
I also think Catherine Peyton was a low life marginal piece of crap. And this Brian person had enough too. But Hannah should have busted into the studio.
It's hard to believe that after confessing the she wasn't Ann's mother that she would then push her off the bluff. One can only surmise that Lee did kill her as he threatened her constantly and even pushed his own brother off that same bluff. Ann didn't fall. She knew that she was loved by Dr. Rossi which was her lifeline. Steven is such an bitter and insensitive blockhead. He proves that in his horrible treatments of Rita, Betty, and now Hannah, who has finally told him the truth. How on earth could he even consider defending a man that utterly terrorised his sister's every move?
William Bond .. I'm following 2 weeks behind you in viewing PP. . I think I figured out that Catherine was their mother. .but I don't yet know the verdict of who pushed her. . I really liked Ann. poor Dr. Rossi can't seem to find a woman to love! !
You are very astute as it came as a shock to me as I only expected an affair with Hannah's husband and not the two children as a result of that affair. Peyton Place seems to have the habit of not always tying up loose ends in its storylines which I guess truly mirrors real life. It certainly is fine entertainment, well written and quite addictive. Hope you stick with it Peggy even if Dr. Rossi turns out to be an old maid! And if it's never made really clear who killed Ann. My chips are totally on Lee. I agree. Ann's death kept me awake for the rest of the night and I couldn't get it off my mind for days.
An interesting point, but Steven is so full of venom so as to believe that his own mother murdered Ann. This, regardless of the fact that Lee Weber not only stalked and murdered his sister, but so frightened him as a child into saying that Ann pushed Chris Weber off the bluff in the first place. Steven's motivation throughout Peyton Place is jealousy and and a sense of inferiority. The same dark emotions that will undermine Lee Weber's life. Steven used Lee, ( We can see that he doesn't believe that Lee is innocent.) to bludgeon the truth out of Hannah and Martin Peyton and in so doing hurts himself more than anyone else. He cloaks his murky vindictive nature behind his law books and his pompous talk of truth and justice. I disagree in that Lee Weber is secondary. He is pivotal in all of this unmasking and he and Steven's fate are to be tied together as the series unfolds. That's my take on this, but we both agree a fine series overall.
No truer words,Steven is still so much better a character than anything today put on a Soap trying to replicate PP,but he comes across as shooting himself in the foot in his questbfor "Who's my mother",better left unanswered, but must be ratings sweep.Still don't see how quality of show deteriorated when Mia Farrow left.
I wish someone among all the fans out there could explain to me how Chris' blindness was the result of being pushed off that infamous Sailors' Bluff. Isn't he ever going to return to law school---or is this the proverbial long, hot summer that never seems to end---except for the fact it's been pointed out in the narration that autumn has arrived in Peyton Place? It's always seemed highly unlikely to me that a blind person in the mid-60's would ever have attended law school in the first place; I mean, even if daily attendance & keeping up with the classroom assignments, studying, & overall workload was possible, what were the realistic chances of Chris, or any blind person, getting employment in a law office or firm at that time back then? Yes, Lee felt guilty for pushing his brother over the cliff but could ill-afford to put him through law school. This seems like quite a stretch to me!
Unfortunately the series underwent a drastic change in that it became more topical, that is to say, began to reflect contemporary issues. As a result of that the series became.....in short....boring. Also the inability to just let Allison vanish into the night forever rather than insert the tedious Rachel and Chandler angle. About the only bright spot in its race to the bottom was Diana Hyland who was deliciously bitchy.
This episode exhausted me. I couldn't follow the convoluted details. Steven's just too intense & the hearing itself has veered way off the rails. The incessant use of close-ups in the courtroom became tiresome, like watching an episode of Perry Mason. The series at this point seems to have lost all of its original aura of small-town scandal & controversy, primarily of a lurid, risque' nature. For me, Rachel---she of the soulful eyes & tragic, semi-mysterious background---along with Allison's fate, are the primary reasons I'm now watching. Oh, yes, and for Leslie Harrington's continued presence, as well, always a high-point for me. He does seem to have lost weight, which I noticed for the first time in his close-ups. Just hope it wasn't health-related. If no further risque' or scandalous plotlines return, or even just a basic romance, I'd like the show solely to focus on Rachel's ongoing plight. Constance still has little to do plotwise, so, despite her beauty & my genuine fondness for her as a character, I can't even look forward to her involvement. Regardless of where the series goes from here---and, yes, I'm sticking with it, come "blank or high-water"---I'm done with the court-stuff!
WOW! This was the most dynamic ,and best court scene, of Steven's, interrogating Hannah. He was superb. And about the best scene in all of this series✌
As I mentioned elsewhere, it wore me out. Over-dramatized & too convoluted to follow.
Stephen Cord sounds exactly like my high school teacher ! He acts also exactly like him and gets physical when messed with!
Superb acting!! WTG Ruth Warrick!! They surely don’t make soaps like they use to!
Right? I'm a newcomer to the series and was expecting a dated, corny soap, but WOW!!!
@@littlericky46 I hear ya!!
Hold the presses. BOMBSHELL revelation from Hannah. I thought Rod's trial was the big case, but this case is the case, of all cases.

This was an awesome episode!
My jaw just hit the floor.
It is amazing that Steven held it together as well as he did
Wow! I am impressed the writers finally had Hannah tell the truth about who was the real mother of Ann and Steven. Ruth Warrick was terrific in her scene. We have waited so long for the truth to come out. Now we have to wait to find out (if ever) how Ann died: accident or murdered?
This episode, and the episode of the discovery of Ann's Body, are the two most powerful episodes of the entire series !!!!!
This is everything! Even 53 years later.
I binged watched tons of episodes to get to this! Wow! And I got my reward. Amazing drama - melodrama, really! Loved it!
THE JUDGE MUST HAVE GONE INTO SHELL SHOCK BECAUSE EVERYONE WAS SILENT AND HE WAS JUST BANGING THAT GAVEL LIKE HE'D LOST HIS MIND. LOL
The music was so loud the gallery could have been rioting and we wouldn't have been able to hear it. LOL
What a brilliant actress Ruth Warrick was. I felt so sorry for Hannah - and Steven too.
She really was! I also think she was classically beautiful.
Absolutely brilliant!!!
Wow! Powerful drama
WOW! I believe that was the best scene of all the PEYTON PLACE episodes!! Gripping!
It's a shame we didn't see more of Catherine Peyton depicted, both the latter day, and in flashback. What a wicked character, much like "Rebecca!" Murdered her husband's lover, had an affair that resulted in twins, and Daddy and others clean up the mess.
Funny how the judge hits his gavel when no one is talking!!
Maybe wishes he could bash some skulls.I'm sure Steven Oliver would've,the "Hell's Angel" and sounds like all around macho guy.How anyone could want him in their life is beyond me.
THEY PLAY LOUD MUSIC.
@@ellenfoley4996 lol
Because he knew there was going to be a ruckus behind Hannah revelation.
The judge banging his gavel,
the courtroom clearly exploded but the sound was cut out to focus on Steven's expression!
Brilliant!
“I never had any children” BOOM!
Thank goodness this episode was found after I reported it missing from the list, although I did keep watching it but as I didn’t see this I had to guess what happened so a big thank you to soapsnthings
I figjred this out ages ago
Now all the hatred Steven has held in and he's persecuting the only person who ever cared about him and his life.
Not a sound in the courtroom but the judge pounds his gavel!
OH MY GOD
Wow,didn't know Hannah could've married Martin.Too bad they didn't,the great storylines and the arguments!
Like Carol Burnett's Fresno, when her adopted daughter learned her biological mother was her adopted mother all along.
The Harringtons and Cords are all brothers and sister
my question is, how much - if anything - did Leslie know?..is this as big a revelation for his as everyone else???......
"Steven was...born through wedlock,/a regular occurrence in the Peyton flock."
@@dannyhill8797 Leslie knew nothing about it until it came out in court.
Interesting that Hannah actually grew to love Steven though he was not her natural son, but Martin Peyton never accepted Steven, even though his mother was a Peyton. And Ann, too...
A lot of spices were just added, to the pot. It should get even more interesting, now. And a lot more pieces of the pie, to be cut, now.
The door of the cottage was closed when Alisson came there. Hannah could have shut it, after she did not find Ann there.

No matter what.. I feel sorry for Hannah.. She had no choice but to go through with it all.
We have seen a version of this storyline before....
Oh dear what a mess.😮
And this is not the whole story whether it all comes through fruition before this series ends there’s more to it than it’s being told
What a shocker!
WHATTTT?????? CATHERINE PEYTON!!!!!
I feel so badly for Hannah; hearing how her life and marriage were ruined.
Modguy61 It probably was very therapeutic
Yes, like an impromptu therapy session.
In essence, she became the defacto Mrs Peyton. Martin is closer to her than even family members. I felt sorry for her. Really sorry. I also have disgust for Martin because of how long it was covered up, and how essential for the “image” to be kept instead of reality

Hard to believe Hannah said she was not her mother. Finally.

Betty knew the truth all along. In an earlier episode she asked Peyton if Steven was his heir and Peyton said yes
No, Betty did not know. At that time, she still thought Hannah was Steven's mother. Anyone can be an heir...it doesn't have to be a family member.
Poor Steven 😢
So Rod, Norman and Steven are siblings?
Peyton puts me to mind of a Joe Kennedy type, only worse.

I knew it!!!
After this episode, PP went steadily downhill
+Peter Orleman The mid-to-late 400s were especially lackluster, in my opinion.
+SoapsNthings Yes, I agree. Although i liked Diana Hyland, her drunk scenes were too over the top. And the Russells were boring!
Especially Caroline Russell (the daughter). She bored me to tears, and there was way too much focus on her.

The Russell storyline was bad. Liked the Michael/Joey Rossi storyline though
