  • Bought a new Ariocarpus trigonus cactus plant... Late March 2021.
Its a sad ending to what started off as a positive Unboxing video...
I didn't get what I expected to be honest... The cactus had been Neglected which I knew about, and I bought it thinking it was needing TLC... I thought it was going to be a bit more 'alive' at least!
Watch video to see it needs alot more effort because I think the cactus might be long past it... Is it DEAD already!?
    Thank you for watching...

My fingers are crossed for your aeriocarpus. You did all you can to save it so now it is just a waiting game. You are correct on rooting the tubercles. Rob Roy (in one of my videos) successfully does them but he said it does take years before you can see a significant growth but it can be done. It is a good idea as a last option to save this plant. Good luck, Claire!

Thank you Ana 🤞🏻 😊 Thank you for the reassuring info on tubercles and grafting them & about Rob Roy doing it... Yes it can take ages 😆
I think I might use a strong fast growing stock! Have a great day, thanks for your great comment and for watching 👍🏻☺️🌵🌞🌵🌞

Oh No I really hope that it will recover for you, I think it may have originally been on a graft and then formed roots after being degrafted, I will be keeping my fingers crossed for you and keep us updated on how it recovers, and thats a brilliant idea with the tubercules, thanks so much for sharing Claire, and Hans and I are sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER from across the sea for a wonderful afternoon XXXX

Thank you so much Lyn for your great coent and for watching... Yes I think you are correct (Daz also mentioned about it perhaps being a graft before) It definitely has that look about it. Thank you Lyn... I think it needs lots of luck 😬😆🌵🤞🏻🌵💐

Hi interesting video thanks for sharing I can I ask did it survive?

  • @Axpxlxwx

Apparently it was flooded. Have you tried treating it with a rooting agent? They also rotated the plant a lot and disturbed it. and it was necessary to put it on the sand within a day. I hope they sprayed the area of the fluff at least sometimes.

Hello. Curious if it made it? It definitely looked like a dead plant to me. Best regards :)

I have 3 Ariocarpus fissuratus and an old retusus. I've had a few on the past and when they look like this it's kinda over. Looks like a
peat soil may have been used. Burnt the roots off. In my early years I lost a few to this , such as my trigonus. You may have luck with a tubriçle graft if it's got enough flesh left inside it. Poor thing looks pretty sad. At least you have given it a chance! Good luck!! From Morris park in the Ozarks, have a great and lucky day!!! Peace,Love,Plants!!!!✌💖🌵🌸🌿🌷🌳💐🌲🌹🌴🌻

Thanks so much for watching and for your great comment and information... I will as a last attempt try using tubercles, but yes as you mention, they have to have enough life left in them, and not many look too good... But yes I think it might be past it, the Ariocarpus, but got to try, I thought I was getting a plant needing a bit of TLC but think it's way past that! Happy growing 🌵🌞🌵🌞😊

Thank you for watching & commenting... It definitely looks awful but we can but hope, I won't be surprised if it doesn't pull through.
Ariocarpus can be a bit fussy with watering! 😆

That Ariocarpus has certainly had a hard life by the looks of it. I think judging by the roots it’s probably been grafted and then de-grafted at some point as well. Hopefully it survives and you’ll start seeing new roots emerging 😊 Keep us updated on its progress. Thank you for sharing with us, Claire. Have a wonderful evening from Edith & myself 🌵☀️🌺🌼🌸🏜

    • @CactusCove

It looked so promising looking at seller photos looking 'alive' in the pot... I hope soe sort of life grows out of it... Yes you're probably right about it being grafted I suspect, it's just odd having roots that short 😲 I hope the others that got sold were okay, there was a few that got sold! 😬
Thank you Daz for watching & for your great comment, as always 👍🏻😊🌵Yes... Lovely sunshine, blue skies today! 🌞☀️🌞☀️

@@CactusCove it’s heartbreaking seeing you cut deeper and deeper and not see fresh tissue but growers do “core” de-grafted plants if they want to root them. They also use Akadama as potting medium for air circulation. Fingers crossed your Ariocarpus survives. Thanks for sharing with us, Claire. Will be looking forward for updates. ❤️🌺🌸🌼🌵❤️

@@edithcoliagrandis Hello 😊 Thanks so much for watching Edith... It's a real pain the plant turned out like it did... especially being Ariocarpus which are not exactly fast at rooting 😕 Not sure It will survive, oh well, I can but try... 🤗Have a great day/evening and happy growing to you 🌵💐🌞🌵💐🌞

Cant you get a refund from the horrible seller?

    • @CactusCove
      @CactusCove  3 роки тому +1

I've thought about it, but think it's pointless trying, it was sold as per the description of the plant, so as far as the seller is concerned, I think they think it was advertised correctly... However I do think it should have had, at least, more life in the roots, and no matter my argument with the plant, I don't think I'd get my refund, but I still think it was obvious to me, it was too past it to be saved easily, once I actually unboxed it and examined the roots, so can't help thinking the seller must have realised this too. well all I can do is try to resurrect it now, by some sheer miracle it might survive or its already long dead. Thanks so much for watching and for your comment 👍🏻😁🌵🌞🌵
