  • Experiment in which we are going to make a rapid crystallization. To do this, we dissolve the potassium nitrate (KNO3) in water at 100ºC. The solution was then poured into a Petri dish which will be used as a crystallizer. As the solution cools down, potassium nitrate crystals are formed.

And they will have therein purified spouses, and they will abide therein eternally. ( 2:25 )

    How do you know for how many gram of solute need to put making it solve in the solvent? Any calculation or formula?

    can someone explain why it crystalizes from the edge and towards the center with a higher concentration of potassium nitrate, but does not when it has a lower concentration?

      Hello. I think the concentrated solution was hotter in the center, and cold state of the edge initiated the crystal grow. The light solution had time to spread the heat on the bottom surface evenly, the container was not full, less of the edge was in contact, we see the surface tension on the liquid layer displacing particulates from the center to the edge, it means that a rolling effect bringing cooler liquid from the edge to the center along the bottom created the required conditions for the crystal formation in the center first.
