    This is the most accurate video of what MEPS will be like. I had a very similar experience. Ive seen all the videos on UA-cam of ppl saying that it was awful. Yeah MEPS sucks, but its not that bad! Nothing to worry about. Great vid👍

    My advice to anyone who is going to join, or is in DEP is to workout..... Physical fitness is huge in the Armed Forces and if you are in DEP make the time to workout. If you need to lose weight, do so before you go. Everything is easier if you are in good shape. The military uses exercise to get your attention, and to punish you when you or someone you're in boot camp with makes a mistake (and it WILL happen). You should go to boot camp knowing you are physically fit.
    Know your General Orders....know them, don't "sort of" know them. You can get these from your recruiter and if they don't just automatically give them to you, ask for them. There are tons of videos here on UA-cam on each branches physical fitness/readiness tests. Test yourself....and try to improve. Being fit is one less thing to stress/worry about. Just my two cents.

    I know this video is old but watching these make me really excited, I've been wanting to join since I graduated HS in 2017 but I kept failing the ASVAB, I had to take it a total of 6 times and I finally got a PASSING score yesterday, not the score I wanted but I finally was able to get in which is all that mattered to me. I go to MEPS in about two weeks and I finally got my weight up after YEARS of trying lol. So everything seems to be falling together perfectly. I can't wait to pick my jobs and swear in!!

    Congratulations Brittany. May God continue to bless and protect you and all who serve with you. Intel is a GREAT choice as cyber security is YUGE going forward and wars will be fought using computers. i am 65 now but rode the incredible rise of computers and made good money and so few people today are interested in that. You young people posting re: military are inspriting me to start working out again after 2.5 years of recovering from chemo. That's another benefit of the AF or any branch - the emphasis on physical fitness. the time to start those habits is in your 20s or even 30s and it will really help you as you age. plus it just feels great to work out and the positive impact it has on your mentally as well. A great way to combat stress which is part of everyone's life now.

    Another question lol . So my fiance is the one going to meps. How will we know when to come see him swear In ? And can he go home after he swears in if he doesn't ship out just yet?

    • @Brittanylynnlewis
      @Brittanylynnlewis  5 років тому +1

      You may not know when to come see him swear in. He may or may not be able to let you know an exact time. I knew mine was going to be late in the day because I did my physical and ASVAB all in one day whereas others usually break that up into two days. Some MEPS locations will let you go to your phone at certain points and I heard some will not. I was able to go to my belongings any time I wanted through the process. Yes he can go home after he swears in.

    Hi! Thank you so much for this informative video. It is very helpful. I have a quick question though. Did you sign your contract without knowing which job you would have? Is that the usual process? Or do you usually have all that figured out, that way you know the job you’re signing up for?

    • @Brittanylynnlewis
      @Brittanylynnlewis  5 років тому

      Hey thanks for watching! I signed my DEP contract at MEPS without knowing which job I would have. You do make a job list that day so you are guaranteed one of the jobs you selected on that list. A few weeks later, my recruiter said I booked operations intelligence (#5 on my list) with a Dec 11 ship date and I went in to sign the contract for that specific job and ship date. Hope that helped!

    • @zazzieb6665
      @zazzieb6665 5 років тому +1

      Brittany Willis, thank you so much! That was helpful. So if I’m understanding you correctly - feel free to correct me I’m wrong : ) So your MEPS contract is different and separate from your job contract?! The MEPS is your agreement to serve, join, and follow the rules of military?! While your job contract is your agreement to sign in and so that specific job?!
      One other question. When the recruiter called and told you that you booked operations intelligence, do you know if you would have been able to decline and wait for another one of your options to come through?

    • @Brittanylynnlewis
      @Brittanylynnlewis  5 років тому

      Yes, exactly!
      I do believe you can pass on the job they initially offer you, however, this can result in a longer wait time to ship to basic and honestly you agree to fulfill the needs of the Air Force so I think they expect you to accept the first job you book because it is listed on your sheet for a reason. But I guess ultimately when you are sworn into DEP you are under no obligation to accept a specific job.

    So I'm going to meps tomorrow just for my physical and I will be swearing in to the delayed entry program. I was just wondering if there were multiple times for swearing in or would I be taking my oath earlier?

    • @Brittanylynnlewis

      You swear in twice at MEPS. Once into the DEP and once when you ship out for basic

      She could have, but I think to become an officer, is a longer wait than enlisting. Since she enlisted, she went in automatically as a E3. I think either or is good though :)

    How does job selection work. I literally only want one job..fire protection. I know that it’s a high demand job..but I been studying FF since I forever I’m 23 now aha. After MEPS you can wait for your job you desire to open?

    • @Brittanylynnlewis
      @Brittanylynnlewis  3 роки тому +1

      If you’re going active duty you’ll make a list of jobs that interest you and your recruiter will let you know which one you book. If you hold out for a specific job, no telling how long you’ll wait or if your recruiter will keep you in the delayed entry program. Best of luck!

    So i go to meps next week. And i want to start bmt asap. They said u can go to bmt almost straight after meps? And is there a way you can check MOS availability? Im trying to get a mechanical or electrical job if not im just going to take whatever is there. Oh and one last thing sorry after your tests and you’ve selected your jobs do they already have contracts there for you?

    • @Brittanylynnlewis
      @Brittanylynnlewis  5 років тому

      Usually people wait 3-4 months to ship out to bmt. I waited 4. When you’re there you’ll list at least 10 jobs and you can choose mechanical and electrical as long as you qualify for those jobs on the asvab.

    • @Brittanylynnlewis
      @Brittanylynnlewis  5 років тому

      Brittany Willis that’s absolutely brilliant. I’m so glad! I hope you’re doing ok and have been well. Thank you for speaking from a woman’s perspective it’s really helpful. Currently studying and can’t wait to enlist. Also “older” 25 but would be 26 by the time I can enlist so you’re perspective and content and explanations are really valuable to me. I adore that you are excited. It’s sad or frustrating when you see folks sweat the small stuff I suppose. It’s refreshing that you don’t do this on camera (even tho we all people so I don’t doubt sometimes it’s hard) I think you do the USAF justice when you present online in a such a mature collected way and maybe perhaps are not using this as your venting space. I hope you are Covid free and your family is safe and healthy. Keep up the great work. Always rooting for yah.
