GameOver Jesse the charge can be sidedodged very easily. side dodge early to land when he's next to you. when he spits fire, fire an arrow in his face to stun him. run up and you can mount him for some heavy damage. use the updrafts from fires he starts, to get some air and fire some arrows in his face to stun him again.
I once beat a golden lynel and then the blood moon rose but I came prepared with a whole page of meals that gave me a full recovery. Along with the fully upgraded hylian tunic, ancient pants and rovios rabbit hood. A savage lynel bow that shoots 42x5 dmg and the master sword. And the master Sword ran out of energy so I used a savage lynel club that does 107 dmg. Made short work of the second one

I remember the first time i saw a lynel I was at the lanayru east gate and i saw it and i was like “hey is that ganondorf” then i got close and it instantly attacked me
I saw my first in Faron, at night, in a lightning storm. I started running away and it came after me. I got killed immediately. now I just use ancient arrows.
I'm new to the game and this literally happened to me last night after watching the memory before the gate. I got absolutely destroyed and all my weapons broke lol
Lol you don’t need end game gear/equipment to defeat a lynel. Just a bunch of practice dodging and stasis rune to freeze them, then shoot them in the face. 😏👍 I know I’m two years behind this comment, but this is just for other people who are just now playing this game who will read this comment.
Heynicetie tbf you only need 13 hearts to pull out the master sword and it's not even the strongest weapon in the game when you use it against normal enemies. the great frostblade is way better for killing lynels imho. the shield you can grab from hyrule castle pretty easily, I got mine at like 4 hearts
The master sword actually isn't that strong?? Usually it's at 30 attack, and in situations like the castle or a boss fight, it's at 60, and there are way better weapons.
Btw I killed it. It's easy to shoot in the face and mount it, and it doesn't waste weapon durability while mounted so you can use your best weapon and do a lot of damage easily If using your shield, use it's easy attack pattern to parry, stunning it, then shoot it in the face and mount Or if you aren't worried about weapons, repeated flurry rushes are also very easy. I figured all this out a few minutes ago after a long time messing about with it... And dying a lot
I think the best way would be arrows and go around a rock shooting him in the face. He will occasionally fall down and you could hit him a lot with your strongest weapon. He probably won’t use electric arrows(he didn’t for me) I did that for my first time cuz I was better with arrows. But if you upgraded your stasis rube and was a dumbass like me and didn’t realize you could freeze enemies then just do that lol. At this point you’ve probably killed him lol
This is a much slower but relatively safer method to kill this specific Lynel: Hide behind one of the large rocks and lure the Lynel with bombs or by whistling, the Lynel will circle around the rock to find you. Make sure there's a "?" above it at all times. Use the stasis rune to freeze the Lynel from behind (you first need to upgrade the rune at the Hateno Tech Lab using Guardian parts). Hit the Lynel as much as you can and run behind the rock as soon as the stasis wears off. Repeat this cycle until the Lynel is dead.
@@lucky_lulu317 You'll get better at it, and the champion abilities help a lot as well. I got better and now, I like to eat mighty food and wear the barbarian armor while fighting Lynels, mostly relying on flurry rushes and champion abilities to do the damage.

I love this game I just can't stand the constant breaking of weapons though that what kills it for me . They should have just made it where they get dull and just need sharpening.
They definitely could have added variations on degradation. Wood > chip > break, Metal > dull > chip/rust > break, Elementals or Ancient > weaken > power down > break. Then some different ways to repair.
it keeps you grinding for more weapons though if i had the same op weapon all game it would get boring but you have to work for them and they don’t last forever

No, I'm just saying this wasn't a tips and tricks video at all, this was just gameplay of him fighting a Lynel. And even then, his "strategy" could have been a whole lot better.

Just started the game. Dodging his attacks really makes the fight easier. And for extra protection I made a dish that increased my defense so each of his melee attacks did less a heart of damage.
I saw this in my reccamended, im not gonna watch it but here is a much easier way: Use stasis+ Shoot an arrow at his face *(after shooting at his face he will be stunned even after the stasis ran out)* mount him hit him while ur mounted till he kicks you off *repeat*
@@blackboi0739 really? Cause I tried to mount him but I just can't find the right time. I kept on doing flurry rush till I ran out of foods to replenish my hearts. Also all of my shields broke till I'm left with a pot lid as a shield. Wth. But I managed to kill him eventually. Took me forever though.
Tips and tricks? Let's go over them. - "We're going to try to sneak up on him..." You weren't crouching, and you didn't have any stealth boosts active (via food/elixir or sneaking armor set). It's next to impossible to sneak up on them without any sort of stealth boost. - "He's going to shoot at us..." Because you were too far away from him. That's the first rule of fighting Lynels: close the gap quickly to prevent them from using their bows. They are deadly accurate, and almost always shoot shock arrows, so they'll make you drop your metal weapons. - "You can just keep guarding when he rushes at you like that..." Unless you have a Hylian Shield, no, you can't. Your shield will break on the second hit if not the first. You need to perfect parry. And for that, you need to learn the timing of their attacks. - "My sword broke, so we need something else..." Obviously. Using the Master Sword against a Lynel is not a great plan. - "If you get lucky, you can parry..." If your tips are based on luck, it's not much of a tip, is it? Again, you need to learn the timing. - "He only hit us one time..." Which could have been completely avoided. Also, when fighting Lynels, unless you have high armor rating and plenty of hearts, you will die in a single hit. You were ill-prepared (you got there with less than half your hearts and no active damage boost), you had no strategy going in (or didn't know how to implement it), and you had little to no understanding of the enemy's combat mechanics. Overall, a very sloppy kill. It doesn't take 5 minutes to kill a red-maned Lynel (2000 HP). I kill silver ones (5000 HP) in 30-45 seconds. I do not recommend these "tips and tricks" to anyone.
Savage Lynel Bow with Five-Shot Burst + LVL 3 Attack Power Boost + headshot = 480 total damage, potentially. It's always less because not all headshots are equal with multi-shot bows, but it's still a decent chunk of damage with every shot you take. And then, a Savage Lynel Crusher with 100+ damage in conjunction with a LVL 3 Attack Boost = 150 damage with every hit. If you mount the Lynel, the weapon does not degrade, and you're guaranteed 5 hits with every mount. That's 750 damage every time. My general strategy is to headshot the Lynel, then, once it's down, shoot it two more times in the face. After that, mount it. By the time I'm thrown off, I'll have dealt ~1200 damage. Rinse and repeat. A Red Lynel would take no less than 10-15 seconds to kill.
To be fair, not only is it one of the easiest ways to deal with a Lynel, it's also one of the easiest attacks to get a flurry rush on. You have a pretty big window
ACTUAL TIP: Before Fighting, cook five Hearty Durians together in a pot. This will give you a dish that will fully recover you AND give you extra hearts. When you’re at a low health, eat it and you’ll have at LEAST 23 hearts. It’s the only way I beat him with 6 hearts.
Oh yeah, this is a very good early-game tutorial. Step one: get the master sword and the hylian shield, both of which are mid-end game items, upgrade all your gear all the way, then it's no problem at all! How helpful for new players who are still just barely off the great plateau!
For anyone who's new to botw, you can find white/savage lynels, which are harder to beat then ganon. Mainly because ganon is pretty easy. There's one in the Coliseum, and another in hyrule castle
@@Rich7714 I wouldn't consider Lynels bosses per se. They're enemies, good for strategy practice, and drop useful items. They're everywhere, too, you'll likely encounter a Lynel within the first few hours of gameplay, so finding one is 100% not special. Coming from a long time player.
You cant parry anything in botw. If your gonna use technical terms from sword fighting you should probably understand what they are. which is asinine and makes you sound ignorant.
Cept you can't find a Cuccoo anywhere near Zora Village and even if you did, at some point monsters will knock it out of your hand or obstacles block you off.

I just played this part for the first time last night. I broke 4 weapons and two shields, used countless potions to keep refilling my hearts (I only have 5), and a couple elixirs and I was so proud of myself for beating him. I just need to get better at dodging and parrying. I went back to that shrine that has the really easy guardian that teaches you the moves but you can't play it again. I wish there was a place to practice where you won't die. But I guess that's what all the monsters are for.
If you save the shock arrows you pick up on the way to Zora's Domain, you can also pick up more shock arrows on the trees around the Lynel's hunting area. The tree on the (nearby) peak of that mountain has 5 alone!
I literally snuck around the big rocks and got arrows when he wasn't near me. When I hit 20 I BOLTED out of there snagged two more on my way. I wasn't trying to defeat him again. Maybe next one 😩🥴
I've fought the Zora's Domain Lynel twice now and won without taking damage, I lucked out. Was pretty lucky that the two times I actually fought him he strangely never used the Thunder/Lightning arrows. Granted I fought this Lynel pretty late into the game after clearing all four divine beast. Btw, am I the only one who kept forgetting that I have Urbosa's Fury?
At my first time playing the game, I went to gather the shock arrows and I didn’t know how strong he was. I died 2 times than defeated it. It wasn’t so hard after all. My strategy was all about dodging. I got flury rush nearly all the times, so I was kinda lucky as well, but I managed to defeat it with 5 hearts and an extra stamina upgrade.
I like your strategy for fighting these guys. Lynels can be pretty nasty if you try to fight them head on. Other than the one in this video, I usually tend to find Lynels accidentally, and at the worst possible times. :D An easy way to damage them is to stun them using Urbosa’s Fury. It will only stun them for a few seconds, but depending on what kind of weapons you bring with you, you can do some serious damage in those short seconds. If you use an Ancient Arrow, you can kill a Lynel in one shot, but this method comes at the price of whatever that Lynel might have dropped. 9 times out of 10, non-Guardian monsters won’t drop any weapons or items if you kill them with an Ancient Arrow, so I only recommend using Ancient Arrows if you don’t mind not getting any weapons or materials from the monsters in question.
If u don't try to kill it, u will never know how to kill it, but if u try and learn what its moves r, then it will be easy to kill... Well that's what I did anyway
I disagree with this method of killing a lynel. First you sneak up on him and mount him. Second is shoot him in the face to stun him (to mount him again). Then you just repeat that process while dodging and flurry rushing.
Because sneaking up on one is sooo easy lol.... I tried flying over one to land on him and was able to mount from there. Perhaps you can upload a video of how you sneak up on them?
@@WoWGirl6 dont mount it immediately. If you're approaching from higher up you should aim for its face with an arrow so you can stun it (even easier since you'll activate bullet time in the air). Then after you mount it and hit it 5 start shooting arrows at its head again immediately.
@@WoWGirl6 when he shoots his fire at you, after the 3rd shot, run into the updraft and jump up and use your glide to lift high into the air and then you can make an easy arrow shot to the head to stun him and then mount
i do becasue i don't even want their rubbish gear - i mean 24 damamge for the 1st sword???! such a crap reward - the hinoxes come with the royal 36 damage boradswords and you can SNATCH them off one for free!!
i expect that 1st Lynel swords to at least have 40 damage and 6 times the durability of normal weapons for the effort - the fight is amazing no doubt but i just fell the reward is too little,, 24 damage is piffle. Let's not forget the main flaw in all of this: all your loot breaks! What's the point anyway?? As I said; just nab loot off one of the spawning Hinoxes!
Brute forcing through the fight with gear and very little overall strategy really doesn't make for very good tips and tricks, there are several things you could actually have suggested or demonstrated that would help _anyone_ with _any_ gear be more successful, this is just filler video.
I show you can beat it without using runes. A lot of people say to shoot it with arrows or use stasis. I show you can beat it with the easiest strategy and that is simply countering all of its attacks. If I wanted to do it quicker, I could just "cheat" and use an ancient arrow.
I guess, just in the end it doesn't give people much. Yes, with some gear you can ride it out, but it is hardly a plan. More effective to work an ambush and when he does his fireball attack in particular it is usually easy to shoot him in the face to stun him for easy hits. Your method assumes the person is geared to the point where they can afford to stand there and risk being hit. Just very little strategy when there's plenty of room for them.
I don't think the gear was a huge factor in this. He was only hit once or twice at the very beginning of the video and his strategy worked with him beating the lynel with less than one heart by dodging. Great video Jesse!
Oh, and a note having just knocked out a zebra-striped Lynel, they're a significant step up in difficulty. With proper gear I hardly took any damage from the previous one I killed, this one stepped up the damage game significantly and added an additional fire area damage attack
It's not the easiest way though. Fire arrows on the grass, jump in the air and using arrows in the head in slow motion is the fastest way without using runes. Or using a ridiculously strong (70 damage+) two handed weapon while doing a spin attack :P
My first run, I didn't even fight the Lynel for the arrows. Before I found Zora's Domain, I found Lurelin Village. I got the arrows there and didn't fight the Lynel until I was super strong, with more than enough hearts to crush it and some great weapons to hurt. Getting to Lurelin was easy, I just ran from everything I saw, and saved everywhere.
Haha I didn't even think fighting it was the thing you were supposed to do. When I heard there were arrows on the trees I instantly thought, "Oh, stealth mission!" So I snuck around and got them.
The hylian shield is a life saver. Just keep it held up and from my experience he can't really hit you with melee attacks as long as it's held up. And tbh it's not that hard to get the hylian shield
for the shock arrow quest i would not fight it I just snuck around and painstakingly took each arrow when the lynel was on the opposite side of the area
Tip: If you are wearing champion's tunic and kill an enemy in a flurry rush but the flurry rush is not over, just simply don't attack (Try pressing B if the animation continues, don't remember). Then you won't have to waste durability on an already dead enemy. Of course, this doesn't matter if you are late game and basically have more weapons than you could ever need (or if you have majora's mask and can just go into for example hyrule castle and pick whatever weapons you find laying without a worry in the world, just sprint when guardians outside shoot).
HeroOfTime 16 Except that the only reason he didn't take shield damage was because he was using the Hylian Shield (the best in the game) and fighting the easiest lynel variation.
actual tips: try your best to parry. if you can't, try to flurry rush. If you can't do that, shoot the lynel in the head. it will get stunned, and you have two choices. 1. spin around with a two handed weapon with decent durability. 2. mount the lynel, switch to your most powerful weapon or weapon with best attacking power. it will not use durability. it is key to defeating a lynel. hope this helps.
He didnt really give much explanation about how to kill the lynel, it's not a guide, it's basically just a video of a guy kicking a lynels arse. Not literally.
I remember my first and second lynel, the first was that lynel there and the second was a silver lynel (which i thought was white at the time) in the coliseum. I'd recommed using stasis plus, a triple shot bow and firing into his face so he's mountable. I'd also recommend getting close, as the arrows are deadly even for the most proficient player, whereas the sword attacks are laughable if you're decent. Dont bother blocking the charge attacks, the sword swipe you can flurry rush and the weaponless charge you can completely avoid with a sidestep. If you have access go revali's gale, use the updraft for air bow time but make sure not to go too high up or he'll shoot you out of the air. If you dont, the fireball's updraft from burning grass should work too, allowing you to pump damage into its face quickly and easily. Also, lynels are easier than they're cracked up to be if you're prepared. Dont panic, focus your attacks and stay on the defensive for an easy win.
if you don't want to take constant sheild damage, most of his attacks, with the exception of the one where he puts away his weapons and charged can be dodged with a backstep
This video was to show how to kill lynels for people who will be coming across him early in the game. Not everyone is going to be good at dodging or countering their attacks when they first come across them or have stasis upgraded or anything else. So he made a video to show how to kill one by not using runes, special abilities or anything else. If you want an better way to kill one. He has a video where he kills a silver lynel with no armor, shield, special abilities, runes, or anything else. He is naked and only has a sword equipped. He kills it without taking any damage. I think you commented just because you were jealous. lmao.
From Someone Who Knows What They’re Doing: A good strategy if you just want the shock arrows is sneaking around him, most of them reside away from him and by the time I got to him I already had 20+ shock arrows from the trip up to Zora’s Domain. If you want to defeat him you will probably want decent weapons and armor(LOTS OF FOOD TOO). I personally suggest the Champion’s Tunic, Hylian Hood and Hylian Trousers. As for combat, if you have completed the trail that teaches you parrying and dodging, use those techniques. Also if you have a bow and arrows, aim for their face, this will stun them temporarily and allow you to mount and attack them. Hope this helped!
"How to 'easily' kill a Lynel"? More like "How to brute forced yourself to the end of a Lynel fight" or "Fighting a Lynel with no proper strategy". 1st of all, the only reason your method worked was because you have the Hylian Shield. Otherwise all your shields will brake in no time leading to your inminent death because of the way you move. 2nd. This is not a "quick" way to kill one of them since you spent the avarage time ppl last killing higher Liney types rather than red. Then, although maybe not the quickest way, the best way "for me" is by having the Stasis+ (which you get to upgrade from Stasis early on the story throug Purah at Hateno research lab) and then... 1) To begin the fight: look carefully for a high position and paraglide to the Lynel's direction. When close enough leave the paraglider and use slow motion to perfect head shot the Lynel with an arrow. The Lynel will fall over his knees and that's your chance to mount it and deal some descent amount of damage before begin the actuall fight. 2) If the Lynel charges at you with his weapon: wait for it to perfect dodge it with a back flip and enter in slow motion to deal a good amount of damage. You can also perfect parry and deal damage while stuned (but to me this is harder and deal less damage). 3) If the Lynel puts away its weapon and it's about to tackle you: then again wait for it and perfect dodge it with a side jump to then deal damage in slow motion. You can also perfect parry it with your shield and hit it while it is stuned (To me this is easier and safer, but deal less damage). 4) If the Lynel Jumps: take your distance, run to avoid its AOE when landing. Optional: once you reach a safe distance from it, after it lands, use Stasis+ to breafilly paralized it, be quick and precise to perfect head shot it, mount it and deal damage. 5) If throws fire balls: just run around it until it stops (they throw 3 fire balls). Optional: if you are quick enough and find a chance, you can use Stasis as in the previous optional point. 6) If pulls out its bow: like in point 5. Run until it stop, and do the Stasis if you feel capable of. 7) If the Lynel roars: run as far as you can. It will deal an AOE even deadlier and wider than when it Jumps. Optional: Again, if you are quick and precize enough you can use Stasis+ to do you already know what. 8) Miscellaneus tips: - If you shot an arrow to the Lynel's head while in Stasis+ if the shot is not perfect you will not be able to mount it, but whatever attack it was about to be performed by it will be canceled, puting you away of major danger. - If you feel like hit the Lynel by directly get close to it and you find your chance to do so instead of wait for it to attack you, do not perform more than 1 set of hits with your weapon before take your distance, otherwise the Lynel will Jump to AOE you or directly hit you leaving you without distance and chance of evasion. Hope this tips and techniques be of some use for you rather than this "How to..." vídeo.

@@geckoszn The top comment for me is a joke about video game logic and swimming. Personally I'm glad I found this video! I just used this way to kill my first Lynel without using master sword or having a Hylian shield. I just didn't realize you could just "brute force" ignore almost all of his attacks to be honest. I really suck at the other strategy (arrow to face/mount/smash), he always seems to block my arrows and then I get owned. Yeah I went through two shields but he died and now I have confidence to go hunt some more bigbois!

jolly memeatoadz Its just. The fact that when you use a bow on him, u can't make a backflip. And he attacks u directly and you don't have a Chance to avoid it. Its no Problem for me cuz im a good head aimer but for others it is. I wouldnt recommend using a bow between the fights... Just if hes throwing Fireballs at you
So many missed opportunities for perfect dodge. Try constantly blocking his attacks with something like a soldier's shield, see how that works out for you. Also, if your stamina is high enough you can run towards the Lynel in a spiral whenever he starts spewing fire blasts at you. By the time he gets his third fire blast out I'm already right next to him ready to give him the work. You might try crouching next time you want to sneak up on him. You should have more mid to high attack quick weapons if you're planning to take down a Lynel, especially the silver mane Lynels. This battle dragged on too long. Didn't watch the whole video but I don't even think you mentioned shooting him in the face with an arrow to stun him, you can then mount him and get several hits in until he bucks you off.
Not really. I've defeated him with 15 defence, perfect dodging all his attacks and healing his attacks and shooting arrows as much as possible. He definitely missed out on all those good tips which helped me win
Adelio Lopez best tip for early game is cook & eat 5xbananas/razor crab or that thistle plant & max out your attack for 4.10min then fuck that lynel up.
Damm I've collected the master sword and hylian shield, I've maxed stamina and hearts I've also beaten ganon 4 times (once with a glitch) and I've got all memories. Not to mention some of the best horses. Despite this, I still cannot kill a lynel.
When I first beat it, I had no divine beast upgrades, and I had like 5 max hearts. I just kept eating food after every attack, and used the Edge of Duality blade (EXTREMELY POWERFUL) I got from a shrine.
This video was to show how to kill lynels for people who will be coming across him early in the game. Not everyone is going to be good at dodging or countering their attacks when they first come across them or have stasis upgraded or anything else. So he made a video to show how to kill one by not using runes, special abilities or anything else. If you want an better way to kill one. He has a video where he kills a silver lynel with no armor, shield, special abilities, runes, or anything else. He is naked and only has a sword equipped. He kills it without taking any damage. I think you commented just because you were jealous. lmao. btw idiot, lynels aren't stronger depending on the area "most of the time" it all depends on your hearts and amount of dungeons beaten. if you have all hearts in the game. every lynel will be silver. the most powerful version.

The first time I saw one at the gate arch to Ranelle, where the memory is. I had 5 hearts and my best weapon was a Knight's Broadsword. I was on horseback, and it threw me off my horse, I had 2 fairies. It was standing at the gate firing ice arrow barrages at me, so I ran in circles to dodge them. Meanwhile my horse attacked it, slowly chipping away it's health. It took 18 in-game hours for my horse to kill it! Moments like these, like where I found a shrine with a hard test of strength, I had to beat with 4 hearts and Soldier's Swords, is where I think about open world game designs, and how I wish the difficulty should scale with your progress.
He probably had an ass of food too, just waiting to recover hearts. If you’ve been playing for this game a while, you tend to always have food on you. My guy came prepared, he just wanted to show off. This is also an extremely terrible demonstration of killing a Lynel. For one he says “block with your shield” when he’s using a Hylian shield, which is damn near unbreakable by the way. Not everyone has a Hylian Shield, and Lynels destroy shields almost instantly. He relied too much on his shield in this vid. The comments go on and on about it.
If you wanted it to be quickest you would have used the barbarian armor and an attack potion. Also using a shield makes no sense when you can perfect dodge (it's not called parry) almost every attack. This wasn't a good play through at all.
No, you don't understand. He was purposefully blocking a lot of attacks instead of doing a perfect dodge which is quicker and gets more hits in. It is called how to "quickly" kill a Lynel.
Parry and perfect dodge arent even the same thing. god it urked me every time he said parry... to me if your gonna try and use technical terms for sword fighting you better know what they mean or youll sound ignorant as all hell.
I struggled with the red lynel at the mount polymus and after I learned their attack pattern I’m easily killing silver lynels with an inventory full of lynel weapons.
5:05 "Knocked one of our fairies out" Lol no. He cut the grass and a fairy came out. The only way to lose a fairy is by using it. And keep in mind the Master Sword, despite it being the "blade of evil's bane", is decent at best, with a 30 attack stat. And that's not even the quickest way to defeat a Lynel. Use weapons like the Dragonbone Moblin Club with a level 3 attack boost (gotten from the Barbarian set and/or a meal). You can Flurry Rush all his attacks with a backflip, but you have to side hop to Flurry Rush his bull charge attack. And I was promised you riding a Lynel? Too many things wrong I can see.
When I used the ancient arrow to shoot Lynel in the eye it just disappeared in one shot and went somewhere magically and I couldn’t get the 🛡 and sword 🗡.😂
If you want to get really good at defeating Lynels, it mostly just takes some practice. You eventually learn all their attacks and movements so you know what is coming, and how to defend against it. Mostly all you'll need to do is simply backflip or side jump each time they try and attack you, and then you are able to activate a flurry rush! If you just keep on dodging their attacks and doing the flurry rush, they will eventually die. :D

when he spits fire, fire an arrow in his face to stun him. run up and you can mount him for some heavy damage.
use the updrafts from fires he starts, to get some air and fire some arrows in his face to stun him again.

I once beat a golden lynel and then the blood moon rose but I came prepared with a whole page of meals that gave me a full recovery. Along with the fully upgraded hylian tunic, ancient pants and rovios rabbit hood. A savage lynel bow that shoots 42x5 dmg and the master sword. And the master Sword ran out of energy so I used a savage lynel club that does 107 dmg. Made short work of the second one

Heynicetie tbf you only need 13 hearts to pull out the master sword and it's not even the strongest weapon in the game when you use it against normal enemies. the great frostblade is way better for killing lynels imho. the shield you can grab from hyrule castle pretty easily, I got mine at like 4 hearts

It's easy to shoot in the face and mount it, and it doesn't waste weapon durability while mounted so you can use your best weapon and do a lot of damage easily
If using your shield, use it's easy attack pattern to parry, stunning it, then shoot it in the face and mount
Or if you aren't worried about weapons, repeated flurry rushes are also very easy.

I think the best way would be arrows and go around a rock shooting him in the face. He will occasionally fall down and you could hit him a lot with your strongest weapon. He probably won’t use electric arrows(he didn’t for me) I did that for my first time cuz I was better with arrows. But if you upgraded your stasis rube and was a dumbass like me and didn’t realize you could freeze enemies then just do that lol. At this point you’ve probably killed him lol

This is a much slower but relatively safer method to kill this specific Lynel: Hide behind one of the large rocks and lure the Lynel with bombs or by whistling, the Lynel will circle around the rock to find you. Make sure there's a "?" above it at all times. Use the stasis rune to freeze the Lynel from behind (you first need to upgrade the rune at the Hateno Tech Lab using Guardian parts). Hit the Lynel as much as you can and run behind the rock as soon as the stasis wears off. Repeat this cycle until the Lynel is dead.

@@lucky_lulu317 You'll get better at it, and the champion abilities help a lot as well. I got better and now, I like to eat mighty food and wear the barbarian armor while fighting Lynels, mostly relying on flurry rushes and champion abilities to do the damage.
@@jacobcox4565 lvl 3 atk food doesn't stack with full barbarian armor set. It max out at 3 stacks. 3 pieces of barbarian armor are already level 3.

I love this game I just can't stand the constant breaking of weapons though that what kills it for me . They should have just made it where they get dull and just need sharpening.
They definitely could have added variations on degradation. Wood > chip > break, Metal > dull > chip/rust > break, Elementals or Ancient > weaken > power down > break. Then some different ways to repair.
maybe they'll save that idea for BoTW 2, i hope so

Just started the game. Dodging his attacks really makes the fight easier. And for extra protection I made a dish that increased my defense so each of his melee attacks did less a heart of damage.
I was just screwing around and playing with the runes, and learned you could temporarily stop him with stasis+. That helped A LOT!

Chloe mount him when you shoot him in the head. He should be stunned. Now you should be able to mount the lynel
Tips and tricks? Let's go over them.
- "We're going to try to sneak up on him..."
You weren't crouching, and you didn't have any stealth boosts active (via food/elixir or sneaking armor set). It's next to impossible to sneak up on them without any sort of stealth boost.
- "He's going to shoot at us..."
Because you were too far away from him. That's the first rule of fighting Lynels: close the gap quickly to prevent them from using their bows. They are deadly accurate, and almost always shoot shock arrows, so they'll make you drop your metal weapons.
- "You can just keep guarding when he rushes at you like that..."
Unless you have a Hylian Shield, no, you can't. Your shield will break on the second hit if not the first. You need to perfect parry. And for that, you need to learn the timing of their attacks.
- "My sword broke, so we need something else..."
Obviously. Using the Master Sword against a Lynel is not a great plan.
- "If you get lucky, you can parry..."
If your tips are based on luck, it's not much of a tip, is it? Again, you need to learn the timing.
- "He only hit us one time..."
Which could have been completely avoided. Also, when fighting Lynels, unless you have high armor rating and plenty of hearts, you will die in a single hit.
You were ill-prepared (you got there with less than half your hearts and no active damage boost), you had no strategy going in (or didn't know how to implement it), and you had little to no understanding of the enemy's combat mechanics. Overall, a very sloppy kill. It doesn't take 5 minutes to kill a red-maned Lynel (2000 HP). I kill silver ones (5000 HP) in 30-45 seconds.
I do not recommend these "tips and tricks" to anyone.
You kill silver Lynels in under a minute? How do you manage that?
Savage Lynel Bow with Five-Shot Burst + LVL 3 Attack Power Boost + headshot = 480 total damage, potentially. It's always less because not all headshots are equal with multi-shot bows, but it's still a decent chunk of damage with every shot you take.
And then, a Savage Lynel Crusher with 100+ damage in conjunction with a LVL 3 Attack Boost = 150 damage with every hit. If you mount the Lynel, the weapon does not degrade, and you're guaranteed 5 hits with every mount. That's 750 damage every time.
My general strategy is to headshot the Lynel, then, once it's down, shoot it two more times in the face. After that, mount it. By the time I'm thrown off, I'll have dealt ~1200 damage. Rinse and repeat.
A Red Lynel would take no less than 10-15 seconds to kill.

To be fair, not only is it one of the easiest ways to deal with a Lynel, it's also one of the easiest attacks to get a flurry rush on. You have a pretty big window

I find the easiest one to get a dodge and flurry on is when he does that feral rush
ACTUAL TIP: Before Fighting, cook five Hearty Durians together in a pot. This will give you a dish that will fully recover you AND give you extra hearts. When you’re at a low health, eat it and you’ll have at LEAST 23 hearts. It’s the only way I beat him with 6 hearts.
Or just freeze, attack. Parry attack. Freeze Attack. Parry Attack. And repeat this pattern.

Oh yeah, this is a very good early-game tutorial. Step one: get the master sword and the hylian shield, both of which are mid-end game items, upgrade all your gear all the way, then it's no problem at all! How helpful for new players who are still just barely off the great plateau!
Uh, you can EASILY get the master sword with glitches, and easily get the hylian shield if you're careful enough, so yeah a pretty decent tutorial.

For anyone who's new to botw, you can find white/savage lynels, which are harder to beat then ganon. Mainly because ganon is pretty easy. There's one in the Coliseum, and another in hyrule castle

I wouldn't consider Lynels bosses per se. They're enemies, good for strategy practice, and drop useful items. They're everywhere, too, you'll likely encounter a Lynel within the first few hours of gameplay, so finding one is 100% not special. Coming from a long time player.

I just played this part for the first time last night. I broke 4 weapons and two shields, used countless potions to keep refilling my hearts (I only have 5), and a couple elixirs and I was so proud of myself for beating him. I just need to get better at dodging and parrying. I went back to that shrine that has the really easy guardian that teaches you the moves but you can't play it again. I wish there was a place to practice where you won't die. But I guess that's what all the monsters are for.

If you save the shock arrows you pick up on the way to Zora's Domain, you can also pick up more shock arrows on the trees around the Lynel's hunting area. The tree on the (nearby) peak of that mountain has 5 alone!
I literally snuck around the big rocks and got arrows when he wasn't near me. When I hit 20 I BOLTED out of there snagged two more on my way. I wasn't trying to defeat him again. Maybe next one 😩🥴
I've fought the Zora's Domain Lynel twice now and won without taking damage, I lucked out. Was pretty lucky that the two times I actually fought him he strangely never used the Thunder/Lightning arrows. Granted I fought this Lynel pretty late into the game after clearing all four divine beast.

At my first time playing the game, I went to gather the shock arrows and I didn’t know how strong he was. I died 2 times than defeated it. It wasn’t so hard after all. My strategy was all about dodging. I got flury rush nearly all the times, so I was kinda lucky as well, but I managed to defeat it with 5 hearts and an extra stamina upgrade.

I like your strategy for fighting these guys. Lynels can be pretty nasty if you try to fight them head on. Other than the one in this video, I usually tend to find Lynels accidentally, and at the worst possible times. :D An easy way to damage them is to stun them using Urbosa’s Fury. It will only stun them for a few seconds, but depending on what kind of weapons you bring with you, you can do some serious damage in those short seconds.
If you use an Ancient Arrow, you can kill a Lynel in one shot, but this method comes at the price of whatever that Lynel might have dropped. 9 times out of 10, non-Guardian monsters won’t drop any weapons or items if you kill them with an Ancient Arrow, so I only recommend using Ancient Arrows if you don’t mind not getting any weapons or materials from the monsters in question.
If u don't try to kill it, u will never know how to kill it, but if u try and learn what its moves r, then it will be easy to kill... Well that's what I did anyway

I disagree with this method of killing a lynel. First you sneak up on him and mount him. Second is shoot him in the face to stun him (to mount him again). Then you just repeat that process while dodging and flurry rushing.

@@WoWGirl6 dont mount it immediately. If you're approaching from higher up you should aim for its face with an arrow so you can stun it (even easier since you'll activate bullet time in the air). Then after you mount it and hit it 5 start shooting arrows at its head again immediately.

Also, the move when he charges at you on all fours is parry-able and you can also do a side hop to get a flurry rush.

i expect that 1st Lynel swords to at least have 40 damage and 6 times the durability of normal weapons for the effort - the fight is amazing no doubt but i just fell the reward is too little,, 24 damage is piffle. Let's not forget the main flaw in all of this: all your loot breaks! What's the point anyway?? As I said; just nab loot off one of the spawning Hinoxes!

Brute forcing through the fight with gear and very little overall strategy really doesn't make for very good tips and tricks, there are several things you could actually have suggested or demonstrated that would help _anyone_ with _any_ gear be more successful, this is just filler video.
I show you can beat it without using runes. A lot of people say to shoot it with arrows or use stasis. I show you can beat it with the easiest strategy and that is simply countering all of its attacks. If I wanted to do it quicker, I could just "cheat" and use an ancient arrow.
I guess, just in the end it doesn't give people much. Yes, with some gear you can ride it out, but it is hardly a plan. More effective to work an ambush and when he does his fireball attack in particular it is usually easy to shoot him in the face to stun him for easy hits. Your method assumes the person is geared to the point where they can afford to stand there and risk being hit. Just very little strategy when there's plenty of room for them.
I don't think the gear was a huge factor in this. He was only hit once or twice at the very beginning of the video and his strategy worked with him beating the lynel with less than one heart by dodging. Great video Jesse!
Oh, and a note having just knocked out a zebra-striped Lynel, they're a significant step up in difficulty. With proper gear I hardly took any damage from the previous one I killed, this one stepped up the damage game significantly and added an additional fire area damage attack
It's not the easiest way though. Fire arrows on the grass, jump in the air and using arrows in the head in slow motion is the fastest way without using runes. Or using a ridiculously strong (70 damage+) two handed weapon while doing a spin attack :P
My first run, I didn't even fight the Lynel for the arrows. Before I found Zora's Domain, I found Lurelin Village. I got the arrows there and didn't fight the Lynel until I was super strong, with more than enough hearts to crush it and some great weapons to hurt. Getting to Lurelin was easy, I just ran from everything I saw, and saved everywhere.
Haha I didn't even think fighting it was the thing you were supposed to do. When I heard there were arrows on the trees I instantly thought, "Oh, stealth mission!" So I snuck around and got them.

The hylian shield is a life saver. Just keep it held up and from my experience he can't really hit you with melee attacks as long as it's held up. And tbh it's not that hard to get the hylian shield
for the shock arrow quest i would not fight it I just snuck around and painstakingly took each arrow when the lynel was on the opposite side of the area
Tip: If you are wearing champion's tunic and kill an enemy in a flurry rush but the flurry rush is not over, just simply don't attack (Try pressing B if the animation continues, don't remember). Then you won't have to waste durability on an already dead enemy. Of course, this doesn't matter if you are late game and basically have more weapons than you could ever need (or if you have majora's mask and can just go into for example hyrule castle and pick whatever weapons you find laying without a worry in the world, just sprint when guardians outside shoot).

actual tips:
try your best to parry. if you can't, try to flurry rush. If you can't do that, shoot the lynel in the head. it will get stunned, and you have two choices. 1. spin around with a two handed weapon with decent durability. 2. mount the lynel, switch to your most powerful weapon or weapon with best attacking power. it will not use durability. it is key to defeating a lynel.

He didnt really give much explanation about how to kill the lynel, it's not a guide, it's basically just a video of a guy kicking a lynels arse. Not literally.
I remember my first and second lynel, the first was that lynel there and the second was a silver lynel (which i thought was white at the time) in the coliseum. I'd recommed using stasis plus, a triple shot bow and firing into his face so he's mountable. I'd also recommend getting close, as the arrows are deadly even for the most proficient player, whereas the sword attacks are laughable if you're decent. Dont bother blocking the charge attacks, the sword swipe you can flurry rush and the weaponless charge you can completely avoid with a sidestep. If you have access go revali's gale, use the updraft for air bow time but make sure not to go too high up or he'll shoot you out of the air. If you dont, the fireball's updraft from burning grass should work too, allowing you to pump damage into its face quickly and easily.
Also, lynels are easier than they're cracked up to be if you're prepared. Dont panic, focus your attacks and stay on the defensive for an easy win.
That was 10x more efficient than this whole videos method...

From Someone Who Knows What They’re Doing: A good strategy if you just want the shock arrows is sneaking around him, most of them reside away from him and by the time I got to him I already had 20+ shock arrows from the trip up to Zora’s Domain. If you want to defeat him you will probably want decent weapons and armor(LOTS OF FOOD TOO). I personally suggest the Champion’s Tunic, Hylian Hood and Hylian Trousers. As for combat, if you have completed the trail that teaches you parrying and dodging, use those techniques. Also if you have a bow and arrows, aim for their face, this will stun them temporarily and allow you to mount and attack them. Hope this helped!
"How to 'easily' kill a Lynel"?
More like "How to brute forced yourself to the end of a Lynel fight" or "Fighting a Lynel with no proper strategy".
1st of all, the only reason your method worked was because you have the Hylian Shield. Otherwise all your shields will brake in no time leading to your inminent death because of the way you move.
2nd. This is not a "quick" way to kill one of them since you spent the avarage time ppl last killing higher Liney types rather than red.
Then, although maybe not the quickest way, the best way "for me" is by having the Stasis+ (which you get to upgrade from Stasis early on the story throug Purah at Hateno research lab) and then...
1) To begin the fight: look carefully for a high position and paraglide to the Lynel's direction. When close enough leave the paraglider and use slow motion to perfect head shot the Lynel with an arrow. The Lynel will fall over his knees and that's your chance to mount it and deal some descent amount of damage before begin the actuall fight.
2) If the Lynel charges at you with his weapon: wait for it to perfect dodge it with a back flip and enter in slow motion to deal a good amount of damage. You can also perfect parry and deal damage while stuned (but to me this is harder and deal less damage).
3) If the Lynel puts away its weapon and it's about to tackle you: then again wait for it and perfect dodge it with a side jump to then deal damage in slow motion. You can also perfect parry it with your shield and hit it while it is stuned (To me this is easier and safer, but deal less damage).
4) If the Lynel Jumps: take your distance, run to avoid its AOE when landing. Optional: once you reach a safe distance from it, after it lands, use Stasis+ to breafilly paralized it, be quick and precise to perfect head shot it, mount it and deal damage.
5) If throws fire balls: just run around it until it stops (they throw 3 fire balls). Optional: if you are quick enough and find a chance, you can use Stasis as in the previous optional point.
6) If pulls out its bow: like in point 5. Run until it stop, and do the Stasis if you feel capable of.
7) If the Lynel roars: run as far as you can. It will deal an AOE even deadlier and wider than when it Jumps. Optional: Again, if you are quick and precize enough you can use Stasis+ to do you already know what.
8) Miscellaneus tips:
- If you shot an arrow to the Lynel's head while in Stasis+ if the shot is not perfect you will not be able to mount it, but whatever attack it was about to be performed by it will be canceled, puting you away of major danger.
- If you feel like hit the Lynel by directly get close to it and you find your chance to do so instead of wait for it to attack you, do not perform more than 1 set of hits with your weapon before take your distance, otherwise the Lynel will Jump to AOE you or directly hit you leaving you without distance and chance of evasion.
Hope this tips and techniques be of some use for you rather than this "How to..." vídeo.

I just used this way to kill my first Lynel without using master sword or having a Hylian shield. I just didn't realize you could just "brute force" ignore almost all of his attacks to be honest. I really suck at the other strategy (arrow to face/mount/smash), he always seems to block my arrows and then I get owned. Yeah I went through two shields but he died and now I have confidence to go hunt some more bigbois!

So many missed opportunities for perfect dodge. Try constantly blocking his attacks with something like a soldier's shield, see how that works out for you. Also, if your stamina is high enough you can run towards the Lynel in a spiral whenever he starts spewing fire blasts at you. By the time he gets his third fire blast out I'm already right next to him ready to give him the work. You might try crouching next time you want to sneak up on him. You should have more mid to high attack quick weapons if you're planning to take down a Lynel, especially the silver mane Lynels. This battle dragged on too long. Didn't watch the whole video but I don't even think you mentioned shooting him in the face with an arrow to stun him, you can then mount him and get several hits in until he bucks you off.
Not really. I've defeated him with 15 defence, perfect dodging all his attacks and healing his attacks and shooting arrows as much as possible. He definitely missed out on all those good tips which helped me win
I got the hylian shield straight from the great plateau it's not hard why don't you try it?
Adelio Lopez best tip for early game is cook & eat 5xbananas/razor crab or that thistle plant & max out your attack for 4.10min then fuck that lynel up.

Damm I've collected the master sword and hylian shield, I've maxed stamina and hearts I've also beaten ganon 4 times (once with a glitch) and I've got all memories. Not to mention some of the best horses. Despite this, I still cannot kill a lynel.
You can also get a good flurry rush in when he charges. Don’t just raise your shield .

When I first beat it, I had no divine beast upgrades, and I had like 5 max hearts. I just kept eating food after every attack, and used the Edge of Duality blade (EXTREMELY POWERFUL) I got from a shrine.

The first time I saw one at the gate arch to Ranelle, where the memory is. I had 5 hearts and my best weapon was a Knight's Broadsword. I was on horseback, and it threw me off my horse, I had 2 fairies. It was standing at the gate firing ice arrow barrages at me, so I ran in circles to dodge them. Meanwhile my horse attacked it, slowly chipping away it's health. It took 18 in-game hours for my horse to kill it!
Moments like these, like where I found a shrine with a hard test of strength, I had to beat with 4 hearts and Soldier's Swords, is where I think about open world game designs, and how I wish the difficulty should scale with your progress.

He probably had an ass of food too, just waiting to recover hearts. If you’ve been playing for this game a while, you tend to always have food on you. My guy came prepared, he just wanted to show off.
This is also an extremely terrible demonstration of killing a Lynel. For one he says “block with your shield” when he’s using a Hylian shield, which is damn near unbreakable by the way.
Not everyone has a Hylian Shield, and Lynels destroy shields almost instantly. He relied too much on his shield in this vid. The comments go on and on about it.
If you wanted it to be quickest you would have used the barbarian armor and an attack potion. Also using a shield makes no sense when you can perfect dodge (it's not called parry) almost every attack. This wasn't a good play through at all.

I struggled with the red lynel at the mount polymus and after I learned their attack pattern I’m easily killing silver lynels with an inventory full of lynel weapons.

And keep in mind the Master Sword, despite it being the "blade of evil's bane", is decent at best, with a 30 attack stat. And that's not even the quickest way to defeat a Lynel. Use weapons like the Dragonbone Moblin Club with a level 3 attack boost (gotten from the Barbarian set and/or a meal). You can Flurry Rush all his attacks with a backflip, but you have to side hop to Flurry Rush his bull charge attack. And I was promised you riding a Lynel? Too many things wrong I can see.
I used this for the lynel. I didnt have these weapons so i got destroyed.. then i tried with another strategy and barely got hit.

When I used the ancient arrow to shoot Lynel in the eye it just disappeared in one shot and went somewhere magically and I couldn’t get the 🛡 and sword 🗡.😂
Because ancient arrows vaporize all enemies except Guardians and creatures like Windblight Ganon and Thunderblight Ganon.

If you want to get really good at defeating Lynels, it mostly just takes some practice. You eventually learn all their attacks and movements so you know what is coming, and how to defend against it. Mostly all you'll need to do is simply backflip or side jump each time they try and attack you, and then you are able to activate a flurry rush! If you just keep on dodging their attacks and doing the flurry rush, they will eventually die. :D
Just use the barbarian armour. Attack up for each set
Phantom armor is better cuz its 8 protection and attack up
