Can we normalize kids being kids? There is nothing wrong with your kid if they have a hard time sitting still for hair styling my god ….all these comments about omg she’s so well behaved …it’s the way she’s sitting still and not crying for me 🤢🤮. I'm a white foster mom who did A LOT of research and asked for help from African American women who knew hair care when it came to my babies. It's so important to get it right!! Do the research and watch dozens of UA-cam videos. And don't be afraid to ask for help! It's worth it!

Smh, I don’t know how she’s picking up these societal messages at 4, after all the time I spend affirming her hair and skin…but sadly she is 😢 I came to UA-cam with her and she picked out this style. Well this isn’t the best probably but I know for my 1 year old I just say no and move her back and when she starts throwing a tantrum I start singing until she calms down. Eventually she gave up on trying to run away too much anymore 💀

Edit: lol I saw your pinned comment after I posted this one. My kids are half black and their dad has been teaching me how to care for their hair, wash, shea butter, comb etc...but it's nice to see styles I could do for them.

I always worry their hairs gonna recede when people do hairstyles this tight.
I remember being in middle school wondering why girls didn't have hair on the sides. Now that I am 42, I see why.
I was thinking the same thing because at that age their hair is still growing in and you don't want to thin it out before it can finish growing. I would use a growth oil or grease, damage repair serum or something in between the parts and edges to try and prevent any balding or breakage from that type of styling.
So those small buns wont damage her hair follicles . People literally complain about everything on this planet earth
@@momandjas constant pulling and parting in the same place can also result in balding or thinning but what do I know, I'm not a board certified cosmetologist. It's not complaining , it's curiosity and speaking for myself my daughters hair thinned out at that age from pony tails and little up do's like these so we had to use damage control and growth oil to get it back and her aunt who is a cosmetologist now does her hair. Her texture was similar to your daughters.

Those hair ties are too bulky and her hsir too short for them. Definitely not comfortable sleeping at night and theres clear tension on the edges. Use less bulky ties next time please.

I just offered a suggestion to reduce slicking edges because its known to break off hair. If you’re fine with it then thats all that matters. Good day
