E/R changes very nice, only scary part is speed of E when it returns, it might be to fast for champions with no dashes

The E Animation now looks like it was always meant like that,
letting the myster fog go slowly through the enemies with no damage and then revealing its a hand clemching at from behind just has smth

Forgot to mention that the ult cool-down starts when the ability is used and not when it ends
lol so you can chain ults if you stay in a fight? (it's rlly niche when i think about it though, unless ur fighting a mundo ur not gonna stay 150s in a fight)

2:15 oh no, cooldown of the ultimate passes when its active. Imagine tank fight Swain and Mundo, swain activates ult fights Mundo and wins, but fight lasted 2 minutes and after Mundo is back to lane Swain ults him second time
I could argue that even tho cd is 20 sec longer, in practice it will often be shorter

@@tobywessling1282 yeah, all transforming ults had a fixed cd like that and where buffed over the years(nasus and renek for ex, renek recently got it reduced by rank), we can't know how essential ult CDR will be without playing but for how powerful it seems
They really want him in mid again, but this just makes him a better toplaner or support, goddamnit
They do want him in top too. The issue that Phreak addressed in his video is that he's actually strong in the solo lanes, but he's incredibly unsatisfying to play. Hopefully this corrects it.
this is still good for mid i think?? better poke because min q dmg is higher and e more reliable for trades
@@MrB4235 but he's still an absorbed tank in the end of the day, they just made him extremely bursty now and it usually benefits in teamfights, what better teamfighting positions than bot support and top ganks for heralds or grubs early
Granted mid is gank party but youre better off with charas like sylas and yone or akali for that criteria
@@儀水鏡の妖怪霊 well yes swain has always been decent in toplane, but compared to say ww top he fails so far behind, swain really only shines in sp, this will change that for good, now sustainers like ww or garen will have to think twice before fighting one on one with swain top

It'd be cool if collecting a passive during ult reduce the demonflare cd
And destroy the nexus with one basic attack too
They changed it so the cd starts at the ult.
So if you have a 30 second ult that's a lot of cooldown time reduced.
The change in the ultimate is exactly what I pictured for him.
The only issue i see is that instead of Rylai's, Malignance will become mandatory to get the cd lowered or you will not have it for some fights. But yeah, healing from bonus hp aswell instead of flat ap is incredible for ap bruiser Swain.

@@squidish6041That's useless though, 1% bonus HP is like 15-20 heal with good Passive Stacks and Multiple HP Items, 18% AP on the other hand (old R) heals for like 100 with an average build not even too heavy in AP, yeah guess what's gonna be stronger

@@WavintoYet in the basic ability, the changes push you to build AP. That’s why I think this is a shit rework(expect the change to E, that is wonderful). Just made Swain even more uncertain in its role.

Swain OTP here, changes look great overall. However, I am a bit concerned about the noticeable reduction in healing towards mid-late game.
Someone noticing it, do the math how much HP you need to compensate the AP heal scaling nerf, it's depressing
The ult hp scaling on the drain and the increased reliability of hitting E>W SHOULD make it not as bad of a loss as it seems, no?

@@CUBErt_ No, not really since it is quite easy to hit E in team fights so that aspect hasn't change. That's why the changes are from mid to late game since E is hard to hit in lane.
Something had to get nerfed in order to make room for multiple R explosions. You can't have both, that would be incredibly OP
There era when Swain’s ult lasts 10 minutes on Aram is over guys. Because with these changes swain will quickly get red of things to drain
im not main but i love tha character a lot, but i hoped the "max E" thing they commented was adding something so lvls aren't only dmg, but they nerfed the cooldown to make you max it... i knows it's faster, but thats a silly way to "make you max E before W", maybe the speed based on the levels or something like that
As a Swain main I am extremely happy that they left his W nearly unchanged. Earlier when Phreak was talking about it I feared they were going to gut this ability in some way but this looks okay. I am not a fan of the ult change though, especially the drain scaling with HP - it will push him more into being a tank and I personally always liked him more as a battlemage.
Battlemage items have Hp in them tho and personally I think both AP and tank should be viable Swain builds.
As an OTP myself it's fine, mixed tank and battle mage it's gonna be fire unless they nerf him
sooo I have this crazy idea called Heartsteel +riftmaker
They should make it so that W is being casted faster thw closer it are to swain. Like Velkos. That way it works for his battelmage playstyle but fits his story of a tactician. It could also be cool if it was a ward, like fiddel... But that is a bit harder to make work 😅

that E animation feels a lot more impactful. imagine something passed in your chest and you were scared for a moment thinking what could it be...and then..BAMMMM!!! something just paralyzed you from the back!
As if his teamfighting wasnt good enough- just make him even more of a damage machine. You basically have to leave a team fight if swain ults now otherwise his demonflare will just wreck your team with no effort. I mean he already does that at my elo, so adding more damage and the ability to infinite cast it while hitting champions will basically shoot his winrate up.
10 seconds is alot though, if he lasts that long he kinda needs to be rewarded for that

@@BRAZILIAN_MIKUHe will most likely go ultimate hunter+ malignance to compensate the r cd nerfs, and apparently ability haste will lower the detonation timer. So it will most likely end up being like 6 seconds instead of 10.
R cooldown will now start when you press it rather than when it ends tho@@modestlol

The R healing is definitely a nerf. The 13% AP nerf is huge. Swain needs 1300 Bonus health to compensate the healing for every 100 AP Swain gets.
They made him less of a battle mage/draink tank, very disappointing
i think you underrestimate it a bit i mean it´s bonus health so he stacks it with his passiv and the HP from items build something like Rylais / Malignance / Lyandris / Spirit Visage and you get 1100 bonus HP from items alone so roughly equal to 85-90 AP as drain to ult even without counting his passiv put on i don t know 50 stacks (50x12= 600 HP) and you get another 600 HP now suddenly you get about 150 AP worth of Damage from your Health and thats not really a far stretch in terms of Stacks and thanks to Spirit Visage your Healing would also get amplified again so you can stack it fairly good i would asume but we will see the final result
@@xichronix8090 I’m confused, the bonus health scale should only applies on healing, not damage.
Also, please don’t ignore the fact that Swain normally builds up to 200-300AP at 3-4 items, which means the bonus health needs to get to 2100-3400 (with the base heal buff) to have the same amount of healing.
Yet, these are stats only, doesn’t reflect the whole gameplay update. So you are correct that we will have to see what’s the effect once the changes goes live.

Wasn't this rework supposed to make him better at solo laning? Those changes just make him into a better support than improve his laning
How is that even true? The lower mana cost on q, the more damage on w? Like what?
@@ChildrenofThread Less sustain from passive and lower mana pool on a champion that already has a one of the worst laning phases in the game? Q will actually deal less dmg in early than previously, again swain struggles early. W deals less dmg early, but somewhat better slow early and worse late, but it still has more value on support since it's easier to hit it when enemy has adc to worry about and as utility skill. And massive nerf on ult healing early for ability to use detonation more times, in early you most likely will be able to use it like once maybe twice.
If they really want swain to be a laner, then they should make it so that his ult is toggable and W stuns, so pretty much revert to old swain.
No this rework is not making him better at solo laning since he was already really good in solo lane. It's about satisfaction
@@zbyszekkiebasa906 actually the mana changes make me think you'll rush RoA to compensate in a sololane and that support swain will suffer by seeing less success if he rushes rylais, whereas getting a RoA THEN rylais is too expensive for support swain to really come online with

This is gonna feel so much better, and i am glad they added the 1% bonus health on ultimate scaling since he stacks health whole game and made the E overall better as well as the decreased mana on the Q but i do wish they incorporated ravens more into his kit, like.. they are there but i feel like making two part passive where the other part would replace all wards with ravens and allow for placing them from bit further away, but lets say each ward except farsight has 1 less health would be fitting too.
(I don't care about playing support, i am taking him straight as an apc into botlane, he thrives better when he has more rescources but god it is time to pray that sylas doesn't get "1 to 1" version when he steals it but the old one)
Unfortunately, the passive gives Max Health and in the tooltip for the R it says that it scales with bonus health, so stacking won't be as beneficial as it seems.:(

basically yeah, w is so much stronger rank 1 than before and it barely benefits of lvl ing it up, E now on the other hand, starts at 14 cd, you need to lvl it second

But why did they remove the cool visual effect of swains R-transformation, in the current/old tab, he shines basically in a really nice red-flair but in the "new" tab, this red visual when he presses R is gone..... thats just bad...
phreak confimed in a earlier vid that swain e has been bugged for years so im glad it is much better now

As a Swain main, these changes are gorgeous... but I already know that he will be permabanned before getting a nerf TwT
That E look scary as hell tbh, that skill alone make laning so much easier when it comes to trade

I love it, That E change, The R recast, R Scaling off Bonus health now. My tank swain is gonna be so much fun. Sucks losing the extra seconds of vision from W but the 5% slow will hopefully make up for it. Now to wait and see what they are doing to my boy Ziggs since he is abysmal in Mid due to nerfs from people playing him APC (screw you if you play him bot) and I refuse to play botlane Ziggs.
I feel like Swain got super nerfed though, his q does like so much less dmg, and w I feel is just nerfs, it's hard enough to hit it, buffing when it hits and nerfing everything else about it, I feel like is mediocre. Sure, the new E and R is actually quite cool, but now he probably definitely can't play mid, he doesn't do enough dmg.
bro really said that new drain healing is higher when it's actually lower by like 35% at full build lol
I feel that, with this new E speed, Swain ADC will become meta, especially against marksmen with no movement abilities.

For what exactly? Multiple recast of his R? His E pretty much changed only on the return, and unless people want to fight inside his ult is still very manageable. Focus on perma banning yone and make lol a better place

There is no way they just made his only feasible skill shot (E, because W is not really as reliable unless you hit your E) that's also the most oppressive faster. They really just baby-proof almost all champions nowadays huh.

The health scaling in ult for damage was a necessary touch since his permanent hp gave him nothing but just be tanky

That ult change makes me wanna main him.. I really love champions that have insane sustain/healing.
The healing is so much worse though, literally reduced by 2/3, you're gonna need Heartsteel Overgrowth with many stacks to even see noticeable healing
As a Swain main I'm kinda neutral towards this, am happy for the ult buff but definitely not happy about the E changes. I think they could've just nerfed the damage of the projectile going forward instead of removing it+doubling the damage of the projectile going backwards.
But what do I know, I'm low rank so Idk maybe this is just a skill issue ig
As an former Swain OTP they fucked him up even more with these changes. When they first reworked swain it was perfect. He had enough damage to face any champion alone and he was not so fregile either. Than they turned him in to a utility oriented half tank like blitz but he was pretty mid at everything he does. Like there was no reason to play him. So now they reworked him to this? Giving him less damage and less health regen to buff his e speed which is a good buff but doesn't compansate what he loose for experienced swain players. Buff on the ultimate is pretty useless too. They are still missing the main problem with swain which is he is not good at anything specific. It is so sad to see him like this. And also W nerf is so pointless.
Time to play swain support again. Let's go..❤

I like how they keep reworking champions that already had multiple reworks. Meanwhile Tryndamere and the others that are rarely touched are crying in the corners of the baron pit.
Hos Q ability should be completely replaced by something else that feels like a tactition or control mage ability

It still doesnt give him an abillity to survive time while you trying to pop more than 1 ult blast.

Both of the heals have an hp ratio and ap ratios are down now so you're incentivised to build much tankier and thats whats gonna let you get more blasts off

Damn these are great changes. The E and R are amazing changes, the passive heal to % max health is healthier (no pun intended) since early game he could heal a big chunk of his health back
But it is also max hp now

@@Doublejho what? Lvl one his passive heals for 3% max hp and increases by 1% every 5 lvls, capping at 6% lvl 16. Only thing they changed is that now it increases every lvl instead of every 5, which is buff mainly for supp/adc Swain.

Overall, I like it! Still wish they would do something else with his W though. The ability just feels kind of out of place in his kit.
Didn't they say W ""didn't fit"" enough? No change at all in terms of ability usage, no idea what riot was on about with that, but with this, much much much better to play for top, especially the demonic nova being able to cast every 10 seconds after first cast finally allows to not instantly die once the jungler appears, won't play league unless vanguard fcks off but still good ability changes
Mmmh not a fan of the E coming back super fast tho, I would have prefered a big change on this spell
It was nice being able to like throw the E, and flash to change its angle and the root / grab your opponent, now that's just a "you missed/they dodged, good luck next time"

Swain's W needs to be completely reworked.
It makes no sense for battle mage that wants to keep you close to randomly have high range vision spell (that happens to slow as well).
It has zero synergy with his kit and he should get his old W back (pre-rework Swain W), that would make lot more sense than his current W.
You can use it at close range to slow to keep them close too tho? Like it literally keeps your enemies close if you hit the slow, right? I think they keep it for those and thematics reasons probably.
i wouldn't say has zero synergy, swain w is really good to zone control when fighting near chokes. it also prevents people from outrunning him if they're no longer being slowed by demonflare
It makes perfect sense tho, makes hitting E way easier since people dodging it are more predictable, also good to throw it a bit between you and the enemy you already hit with W for a guaranteed combo and them STACKS brother.
It makes perfect sense to zone people and doing range pressure. Always easy to bait someone dodging W just to get hit by E Q combo. Plus, free vision ward with slow. Why not?
I see same problems. More power in ult means a kit less powerfull. And problems that he has right now still are :/

Sorry I might be just dumb...but how does this help anything for Swain??? Tbf yes the faster E is cool and all so there will be less situations where enemy just barelly dodges your E...BUUUT you kinda lose the "throw E almost at the enemy, walk to the side so the slower return will catch them unsuspecting in minnion wave"
And that ult like...after 10 whole ass seconds you can detonate again...wowowowow....which is long ass time where you will have to be glued to enemy and hope they dont push you away or they jump away for the second explosion

-% heal instead of flat heal
-q has less mana cost so more q’s to cast
-the 10 second window can be reduced with haste aka Malignance and the heal also benefits from total hp so the more hp you get from items and the passive the more it will heal you compared to what it is now
@@luiscortes2333The heal is sooooooo much worse if you do the math: 500 AP = 90 heal per second old R
Now: 25 Heal per second with 500 AP so you need 6500 bonus HP to make up for it

They were definitely needed the e was VERY unreliable so was the w and the w doesn’t fit his kit at all
@@ShadyyUh So I found many uses for it, see the objectives, slow push the other lines, help another line with a gank too, there are many opportunities for it to be useful
