Seeing this interview right here not only makes me appreciate growing up in a real era of "Southern Rap" but it also makes me appreciate and value life more! I was born in "81" and grew listening to alot of these cats... tela, pac, eightball&mjg, ugk, scarface, etc... Really soaked alot of game up from these guys, Free game!!! And more important of all their shit was [Authentic]!!! But it is good to see you still well off big dawg {Tela} You anit tired of ballin yet...Lol...Stay bless💯 "Albany, Ga" #229 grind... Lets go@
Chino Simpson I was born in 81 as well and was raised by that 90s southern rap. And just add a few more names to your list like Outkast- Luke - Master P and everybody on the No Limit Tank. This was a real and uncut era of rap that will never happen again. Much respect to all Downs South Legends.

I’m new to Bhigh but I really like this cat. Main thing I like is how he asks a question and then stops talking. Giving the artist their time to fully talk and express themselves and he doesn’t interrupt or cut them off. Big respect from a new fan 👍🏾
I've always loved Tela! Oh my gawd! Lyrical genius. The world still aint ready. Every lyric from his Piece of Mind album is my favorite lyric. Thanks for your music, Tela. That real shit! I had the pleasure of meeting him yeeeeears ago at a show he did in Racine-Kenosha area. Much love to you Tela. I kept that Piece of Mind album throughout the years. Fucked around and let someone borrow it... never saw it again. UGH.
The South has so many gems in the archives!!! These interviews are important bruh keep it going!!!!!! B High knows his southern music history! Hearing names like Tela, 8 Ball & MJG, Tony Draper, hell even Pen and Pixel graphic is bringing back memories...
Classic interview B High bruh! Tela is definitely a legend. Good to hear from Tela man. That nigga along with UGK, Ball&G, Outkast and Goodie Mob raised me. Much respect
2:30 - 3:15 he spoke truthfully of his beginnings coming from the City of Memphis, like a real playa does. Some of these rappers can't even simply do that.💯
Tela reminds of Prince.. Prince was wayyyy before his time.. Tela was classy, sassy and could flow.. A real true street brother who lived without steeping on toes and calling females ho's.
" You need to watch your gal, like you watch your mail. She sicc as hell, standing here joshin', you can't tell?"......My Favorite track - Can't you Tell.
@@flingfangflung4089 I always thought it was "slick as gel" too bro....all these years, I can't change it now and I'm sure he says "steady head shots & you can't tell" too.
I gotta call from lacresha and some of her nieces said it’s about 6 or 7 dine pieces we could hook up with no chains and no leashes,,,,🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥tela Devin Scarface
Mad respect for Tela! I'm a hometown boy from the M Town & he's one the guys that brought a different flavor to the table back then & that's what made him standout! I actually heard some of the stories from inside the studio at the House of Blues in South Memphis/Orange Mound.
THIS GUY IS REALLY A GOOD INTERVIEWER HE GOT A GOOD EAR FOR MUSIC.... I LIKE HOW B HIGH GETS ALL THE GOOD KNOWLEDGE OUT OF ARTISTS INSTEAD OF TROLLLING THEM LIKE C THA GOD.
Man listen. M town and A town have always had a good relationship. Plenty of love. I'm from Memphis and when I moved to Atlanta they showed me nothing but love. And when yall come to the town I do the same. But I'm 36. This respect and comradery is mainly between people of my generation. We have to teach the younger cats mane. Not only about these to cities, but the south as a whole. All of the contributions are important. Yes the memphis sound is the prevalent sound in today's music but Atlanta played a part in that as well. When memphis music was purely underground, we talked about robbing, selling dope, pimping, devil shit and all kinds of shit. Atlanta was not only able to touch a bigger audience due to the fact that it's a bigger market, but some of their subject matter was more radio friendly. Now u had underground A town cats like Oomp camp and pastor troy, Sammy Sam etc., but I think a lot of those dance tracks really took that sound to the masses. Three 6 was doing it for awhile by then and really started to get more rotation on the radio due to different subject matter. Not changing but talking about different things that more people can relate to. But we must shout out Dj magic mike out of Florida. I remember being a kid in the M and hearing feel the bass 1, 2, and 3 all day. He was one of the first to put that heavy bass line in the tracks. And u can't forget Dj Squeeky. Squeeky is where the get buck, get cruck sound was really formed. Listen to his early mixtapes. Paul and Juicy tapes didn't sound like that back then and that's real. They incorporated the sound and became extremely popular. I got to give much love to B high for being real and showing love to the M. But the south as a whole is why that sound is the dominant sound in music today. Ball and G, Ugk, Tela, Scarface, Willie D, Outkast, Goodie Mob, Dungeon Family, Devin the Dude, Squeeky & The Family, Dj Zirk & 2 thick, Project Pat, Three 6 Mafia, Rap a lot, Suave house, No limit, Cash Money........Shit I'm tired of typing but I could go on. But B high that's rms (real man shit) [I'm trying not to use the n word anymore]. I subscribed.
Good game in this interview. Especially what he said about if you came wack someone woyld tell you "that shit wack". These days the word "hater" makes it easy to dismiss any criticism.
