As a retired airline pilot my vote goes with X-plane 12. At least every 6 months of my career I'd be undergoing training and checking in a full motion sim. None of them had the graphic fidelity of XP12 let alone MFS. But that wasn't important, what was important was how the simulated aircraft flew. This is where XP12 wins. If all you want is low altitude excellent graphics then MFS is great, much nicer than XP. Sometimes that's all I want, flying low and slow in a C172. Sometimes I want things to work like they did when I was flying the real 757, then I fire up X-Plane. There's room for both in the home flight sim world.
As a real world pilot, I go with X-Plane 12 for the flight dynamics, it's as close as possible the real handling of an aircraft. It is the plane and the airport that matter.
X-Plane has real world weather too. As others who fly in the real world have commented, X-Plane is the clear winner. For IR training, my advice is not to waste your time with MSFS. My other advice would be to try it in VR.

I think it's their ground effects physics, it destroys the immersion for me and I've yet to find a plane in msfs that feels right during the landings.
Xplane 12 in every way people say msfs scenery is great well that's when photogrammetry is working and doesn't look like a mud cake. The colours in msfs are horrible and grainy. Xplane 12 looks more natural to my eye. Flight physics gotta give that to xplane 12 in msfs I feel like I might as well boot up gta v. Cons/pros Xplane 12 I've spent 600 or more dollars on that simulator it's EXPENSIVE but worth it. No roast me for my opinion 😂😂
Great Video!! As a Irl pilot, i like Both Sims!! I do use Msfs as my main sim but Xp11 was the sim that i started on and i loved it!! But once Msfs gets some Big Boi planes, Its gonna be Great!!

I’m not surprised. The amount of arrogance in their forum to newcomers was horrendous. Asking for advice you were treated like trash. It was a free for all with absolutely no moderation that I could see. I dumped the platform after a week 😂 and stuck with Xplane 10 at the time. Never had a problem there or even in MSFS forums. No big loss for the Flightsim community imo.
I can care less about physics. MSFS physics is good enough for me. I'm not a real pilot and will never be one who need that. And the big advantage is that MSFS run very well on my PC. No crashes and performance issues. I can't say that for XP12.
You say that, but every comment section in X-Plane videos are bombarded by MSFS users saying that X-Plane 12 can't compare to MSFS, even if the uploader made no claims or attempts to compare X-Plane 12 with MSFS whatsoever. Can't say the same about MSFS videos on youtube. You need a reality check my friend.

Few of you are old enough to remember what made 1977's Star Wars so stunning - up to then, all space craft, was shown as if they were brand new. Never a scratch etc. The Star Wars craft had wear and tear that was realistic - MSFS is like a pre SW sci-fi movie. Everything brand new and fake. That's one thing - The real killer for me is the elongated external views of MSFS' aircraft. I might be able to enjoy it, but it just looks too weird for me. Maybe Q8 could do one more video showing the X-Plane users how to make MSFS' cameras function like XP and vice versa. Thanks a lot - Jon Dowd

I have both and have been using x-plane 12 for practicing procedures. Only difference the 172s are not SP models. Older Carb Heat 150hp.
Both sims are unique and great in their own way! (I personally prefer X-Plane a bit more)

I'm not a real world Pilot. I have both X-Plane 12 and MSFS 2020, and yes MSFS 2020 has the realistic look, but I mostly fly X-Plane 12.
