Dearest Rabbi, thank you! You gave me a new perspective on how my husband may view, or feel differently than I do about certain things. You also gave me pause to think if I am unwittingly belittling him by doing things myself, even when he has already offered, or said he would do them. I have a kind hearted husband who has always treated me better than he does himself. Learning from you sermon, I will in the future be more cautious of my words and actions when it comes to tasks around the house. May Hashem bless you and yours. Shalom

This was a great nugget to cherish I also thought about how wonderful God must have thought man was when making him first. Women see ourselves as the playful part of man . God made us from the rib because the ribs always make you giggle or have great laughter if tickled the right way and we are not ahead or beneath the man but alongside him .
Hahah, that last sentence. As I sent a text a wee bit earlier, saying, "... it's a gift that keeps on giving, and then stops giving because there's no more to keep giving. Just like me." I like being a female w a masculine personality. Men are awesome friends... sometimes.
I now better understand my son's accusations that I've belittled him when in fact I've usually favored him! He really fears being demeaned. My daughter on the other hand is more contented. However the moment one makes these broad generalizations some self identified progressive will deny the difference.
I made the mistake of telling him a man in my life is not a necessity but he is a wonderful want. Then I started telling him I appreciate what he does. That works better
I work in research with lab mice. When I bred mice I put shavings with the male's scent and cotton balls in the cage. If the females tries to build the nest the male gets aggressive against her.. He wants to build the nest. She can only watch. I told this to my male coworkers. They smiled and said women should learn from the mice.
Wow I thot I was the only woman who was outraged about injustice done to me.... But it's true if I can just get some clarity ,understanding, and justification and reason for the injustice, I will forgive and forget in a heartbeat... And I will stay with that person.....so it was not my feminity that was threatened ....it was my honour
Women in you tube: "I love rabbi Mannis" "he wise" and blablabla, women on that video "I am totally" "laughing" "happy. Blablabla. But when rabbi says something that looks negative to women. All stayed quite asking why and asking to explain. I respect women and I love each one of them. I just don't like when they are feeling better than men, and all that, we all good and perfect in our unique way.
Rabbi Friedman , with all due respect, you missed the mark on this one. Women and girls who are repeatedly and consistently told they are nothing, throughout their lives, are indeed devastated. We too feel zero and not that 1-10 scale of something. We too are haunted by it. Been there, done that, still have not overcome that verbal abuse by my parents. It caused me to seek out men who treated me like nothing. We are made from half of that man who has that same fear.
First off, let me stress that I am not mitigating what you have gone through at all. But what you said is actually on par with the Rabbi's point. Part of the reason that it is mostly abused women who chase horrible men, more than abused men chasing horrible women, is specifically because a woman can't be a nothing. You are self-important enough that you feel the fact that you're needed for something, anything, even abuse. Men, will usually just wallow in self-deprication and self-destructive behaviors, thinking that the abuse they received proves their worthlessness. Hope this makes sense, and again I don't mean to put down what you went through, in any way.
@@aizikfriedman In other words, anyone would be devastated from verbal abuse as a child. Only a woman would experience it as devastation resulting from being made to feel the opposite of her true nature (i.e. she is made to feel like nothing even though she is SOMETHING which is why it is so devastating), while a man would take it to a different direction, where he would be depressed over his situation which he is forced to face with his inner truth. Did I get that right?
@@ysiegel Sounds right to me. Only thing I would say, is that being nothing isn't actually a man's true nature. But it is what we, in the back of our minds, worry we really are. Reason being that we came from dust, so that lowliness is stuck in our psyche. Other that that, what you said is exactly how I understood Rabbi Friedman's point.
Hello Rabbi Friedman, great talk, and i have a quick question, If the Woman was made from the Man, then why do women have XX chromosomes and men have XY chromosomes? making it seem like men have a part of women in them and not vice versa . There are also rare cases of men born with XXY chromosomes (Klinefelter Syndrome). There are no cases of YYX , YY, ..ect. Thank you
If man was created from a dust, his biggest fear is that he will be reduced back to dust. If woman is create from a man, her biggest fear is disappearing to a man. Loosing your identity to a man. This is actually so true.. I was always very afraid I will loose my identity to a man Im in relationship with. This is why feminism was introduced...
I used to fear nothing for the same exact reason, my Ego feared for my body's physical survival (and thus my chances of reproductive success). However, it has now become very apparent to me that nothing is Heaven. God whispers kind words of Love and peace, and blesses all Souls who make the worthy sacrifice of emptiness, such that one maintains a state of thermal equilibrium (not too hot, not too cold). As such, I understand that this fear is currently necessary for my body's physical survival, but my reproductive success is NOT necessary to anything other than the suffering of a poor defenseless being, and I have no right to decide to manifest a child, as such is giving the power away from God (since I am making that choice from a state of consious Will, rather than an animal which instead acts on its base desires).
While I find some truth in this, I think that the precepts are generalizations about gender. There are women that are not nurtures or content with what they have. And some feel like nothing. There are men that do not care about accomplishing and are more nurturing types. so, while this is generally true what you say, there are many exceptions to this rule.
That is very strange judgemental thinking, that cause people get in to imaginary trap of own judgemental thoughts. We all are human beings in reality that we all can observe and all we need to pay attention to is our well being = serve human needs = serve life = serve God = acts of kindness . In order to make life more wonderful then it is, we need to observe what life is ? Flowers needs water, that what is life in plants at the moment and to serve life is to watering plants . Humans have their needs too, beyond animal needs. We also have our social needs as social species so in order to coexist in harmony there is a need for frequent exchange of vital information. Not suggested imagination of judgments that drives us behave harmful ways for imaginary reasons . We are real our life is real awake observable and not imaginary . We can tel sincerely what we need at the moment and simple sincerity give awareness necessary to behave in harmony with what life is.
Sounds like a tragic interpretation and not a laughing matter. Aren't men exclusively counted for a "minyan" and calls to the Torah, etc.? How about women still often second class citizens. Still, we're each measured our justice and mercy and how we walk humbly with G-d. (Micah 6:8) And we each go from dust to dust.
Women aren't obligated to pray that's why they aren't counted for a minyan. Women aren't seen as second class in the Torah, easier for them to connect to G-d, men need women halacha etc... They are second class in the world because of Eve's sin..

Wow no wonder I always felt like I just dissapeared in a relationship.... Like I got lost in the relationship....and like I lost my personality and any sense of individuality.... Just became a dependent vegetable that was there for the man to fuck a lot lol... The man never seemed to give me courage... I think women have no problem being alone ..it's mean that are terrified of the woman leaving them, and if a woman doesn't know this then she will think he's abusive and controlling ...but hes really terrified of losing the half of him that makes his life complete....it's not natural for man to want to empower women to be able to live without them...it's totally unnatural... Men and women will always NEED EACHOTHER.... stop saying u don't need a man, girls..... And realize that yes, u do in fact NEED A MAN.. that's the truth whether we like it or not
