    I was stationed on the USS Mccloy from 1986 to 1990. we had AN/SQS 26 axr sonar on that ship. and that ws not what it sounded like. we spent a week ging back and forth in entrance of fjord in norway. and the crew of the norwegion sub that got under neath us will never forget it either.

      @@klj444 30 years after i got out of the navy and from what i remember , depending on the purpose. ei ship board, miine hunters, hunter killer subs...everything worked differentlu according to it's purpose. but it's more of a lowpich to a varrying high warble, depending on salinaty and temperature of the water and the depth.and in mordern times from what understan, it's more passive sonar, just listening for noise other ships/submarines make. active sonar still used..but it gives away your position.

      Honestly I agree with you, I think the 26 in the vid is fake. It doesnt show which hydrophone captured the noise or any background info. It also is stated to be a low frequency sonar and this is high pitched screetching. Correct me if im wrong but wouldnt low frequency be familiar to bass. I would really love to know where this audio was found. For the 53C that sound is real.

      A sonar is a sonar

      Sonar stands for sound navigation and ranging. A sonar device is a special device that plays a high pitch, extremely loud sound through the water and measures how the sound reflects back to it with sensitive equipment to determine the shape of the environment around it. It is basically an under water echo locator.
      However if you are close to the device while it is playing, it will be so loud that it will destroy all of your internal organs, deafen you, and hemorrhage your brain, ultimately killing you.

      Imagine you screaming in water. Now you calculate the time it took for you to hear the echo.
      Now imagine you screaming louder than sound of nuclear bomb explosion. This is sonar.

      An incredibly loud machine used by naval vessels, such as ships, submarines, etc. These send a frequency that can travel hundreds of miles, and it echoes and the sonar receives these and interprets the surroundings. This is an active sonar, not a passive sonar. Passive sonar listens for sounds without playing any. Imagine a sonar ping starting at the Gulf of Mexico, and you’re on the beaches of Louisiana. The sound could still cause permanent hearing damage, even deafening you. The sound is so loud it could stun you underwater, drowning you. Being like a football field away from active sonar, one pulse would rupture your lungs, cause internal bleeding, brain hemorrhage, and most likely death. And even if you do survive, cases of divers being near active sonar, they get off with major psychological damage. So, yeah that’s something.

    Who design those sound? Why does it sound like that? Or is it classified. I'm real curious.

      Bro. Sonar cannot be “designed” or something like that. It’s just an ultra loud high frequency pulsating sound, which target is to find objects in water. Sonar can also be classified as 235 dB sound.

    • @XplosionNo1
      @XplosionNo1 3 місяці тому +1

      Yes, the sound is engineered. I guess, using all these frequencies they get a better "picture" since some objects due to geometry or material bounce stuff differently. They can possibly recognize materials and geometry using that ...

      @@haise__ Back to school ... :p the sound is very much engineered and sound pressure [db] has nothing to do with frequency waves.. aside of the fact that high pitch sound needs less energy to achieve a certain loudness - db ... or so i think. Its been a long time since i learned all this...
