Hi pastor Guzik. Perhaps a question for an upcoming Q&A. When Jesus rose from the dead the Bible says that this was his glorified body. But revelation describes Jesus’s appearance differently. If He already received his glorified body what changed?
I remember reading Bonhofers book and how enthralled I was in reading the 600 plus pages. He was good man who loved the Lord. I came away with 2 major things from reading it. One of those was no one can disrupt the providence of God. I referred back to Josiah in 2 Kings 23. He was a good man a good king. At this time Pharoah Nico was visited in a dream and was told to go up against the king of Assyria. Josiah a good man believing this was not the will of God tried to intervene the purpose God had for the Pharoah to go against Assyria. Josiah was killed in battle. A battle that did not belong to him. It's hard to understand why things are as they are at times. The many assassination attempts on hitlers life who was a terrible wicked man that failed leaving him to take his own life to dishonor him by dying as Judas Iscariot. I personally believe as a believer according to how I understand the Bible that we are never to engage in murder especially when plotted. Appreciate your hard work in your studies and enjoy listening. Take care Pastor
Hi there Pastor Guzik, just checking you out! You are coming to our Prophecy 24 in April and I had never heard of you. I really enjoyed this video and would someday love to ask you some questions on the Bible. Pastors get so busy and just don’t have the time. But this is wonderful to come here and ask a question! I will be turning in and watching you when I can! Thank you so much for taking the time to answer questions!
Challenging question about Bonhoeffer. Not sure I agree. Your answer opens up a pandoras box of possibilities and justifications. If just one unhinged Christian takes your response and runs with it could be really bad. If you are right and every Christian was mature and of sound mind maybe the pandoras box would not be open. The times we live in is often quite tumultuous. I am not saying I disagree, but not saying I agree either. Will have to do some serious prayer. But thanks for the challenge.
i found this comment section to use for a question for pastor's Q& A thurs. Chronicles 4:18. Bithial. could she have been moses"s adopted mother? how did that work? pharoah's ....daughter?..in this geneology?? your commentary almost slides by this verse. lol. im curious! thank you
Hey David - you forgot to answer to last part about the rapture question (it being a rather recent teaching). 😅Someone brought up that argument in a debate with my son so I really had hoped you’d have an answer to this. I actually am fairly certain you did approach that in an older Q&A or video, but just don’t remember which ones. Greetings from Siegen from the Tröps ❤
David - In making your case for "just war" you cited four litmus tests, and you seemed to claim that Bonhoeffer was "justified" *biblically* in his actions, but I don't think you've cited any scripture to support this theory. Perhaps you could elaborate?
I am struggling to understand this. So someone betrays me continuously...I refuse to retaliate because I forgive the person...however I decide that I will stay away from that person to guard my heart from future heartbreak...I still talk to the person but at the level prior to betrayal because trust is gone. In fact the person even tells me that he/she is entitled to what they did to betray me. On top of that abuse me verbally and the Holy spirit kept from retaliating. I forgive but decide that I am not reconciling to that level prior. Another example is you talk to your child repeatedly of wrong doings and they still continue what they do and at some point you stop talk ....and you think it's hate... I really don't feel hate in my heart.... the reason my heart is heavy is because I am afraid they will get into trouble, and I pray for them. I just distance myself so that the association does not affect my relationship with my God. What am I missing or not understanding from this teaching? That you must reconcile and go back to that which is toxic to you, after forgiving?
I started buying Wiersbe’s individual Be… commentaries in the 80s due to Chuck Smith’s recommendation. Warren Wiersbe was a pastor’s pastor and wrote as a pastor as opposed to a theologian.
I am familiar with Bonhoeffer and his work, even writing a tribute to him. Having said that, Bonhoeffer was hypocritical. He wrote extensively about Christians having no rights and that we were not to assert rights. A homicide can be either justified or excused, but a murder is a different type of homicide that legally is neither justified or excused under modern laws. If the assassination of Hitler was successful, it may be excused or justified in an act of war if carried out in a military operation. Bonhoeffer wasn't a soldier, but regardless, this idea of assassination of unjust rulers can be used to kill Obama, Bush, or any politician you think is a war criminal. Its a slippery slope.
Bonhoffer was part of the German liberals of whom Billy Sunday said "If you turn hell upside down, would read made in hell." Bonhoffer's Christianity is as you said, silly putty to do as you wish to. Augustine and Aquínas (before Aquínas converted and said to burn everything he had written) also used Scripture as metaphorical to support neo platonism, the Nico-latians and a long list of evils.
The Biblical pattern for people living in a foreign land, which is what all Christians are while we’re still sojourning here on earth, is not to rise up in rebellion, but rather to bow down in supplication. Think of Daniel and the boys in Babylon, Esther in Persia, or the early church praying for Peter in prison. Think of Jesus praying for the forgiveness of the people in the very process of murdering Him and then Stephen following our Lord’s example. Think of the Jews in Egypt, who in faith simply applied the blood and let God do what God does. We will never know what might have happened if Bonhoeffer had organized prayer meetings instead of assassination attempts, but we still have the opportunity to pray for kings and all those who are in authority for God desires all men to be saved and come to a knowledge of the truth. May we think like Jesus rather than the world.
That's the purpose of war! Rid the world of bullies harassers tyrants! People that make life on earth for others a living hell! Yes if you believe in God its exactly what He would do! 🤷♀️ God's in charge of the soul
How many wars haven't we had and will have? Did we STILL have bullies and tyrants DURING and AFTER those wars? How are wars changing human nature for the better-i.e. changing the hearts of bullies and tyrants?
This is only the third QA I listen to and all answers have been excellent BUT the answer to the lead question was unlike all others: tradition of men above Scripture. All Scripture he read were against killing Hitler, then he turns to a semi-manichean with SERIOUSLY messed up theology called Augustine (good on soteriology, bad on practically everything else). He also mentioned Aquinas who, after Aquínas had an experience with God, said to burn everything Aquínas wrote. In my opinion there's 2 different Thomas Aquinases. The natural Aquínas who wrote many things, a great deal of sophistry contrary to Scripture and some congruent with Scripture; and the reborn Aquinas who wrote nothing and said everything the natural Aquínas wrote was worthless and ought be burnt as straw. Why we continue to listen to these 2 saints (I believe they're in Heaven) with horrible theology is beyond me. Note I am taking no stand on the question as I am conflicted on it and despite 47 years as a Christian still have to hear a convincing Scriptural answer. I'm only against using opinions of men, especially with theology that was more often Contra Scripture than with it. Perhaps the technical problems got him off his groove. Yeah, I still say groovy...
Thank you for mentioning men are also molested. My wife of over 30 years was sexually molested by both a man and woman with the aproval of her mother. She was 18 when she married me, much to get away from her mother. My wife never got nor needed counseling, though probably it would be good for others. What healed my wife was the Holy Spirit making sure her idiot husband (me) Loved he and taught her Scripture. One advice, don't focus on the hurt and damage. Focus on the healing of Christ. Magnify God, rather thsn the sin. Too much talk is often harmful, in my experience not only with my wife but also decades as a primary care physician. Perhapsy experience is off, but I think prolonged psychology therapy does far more harm than good. Go listen to John McAtthur, another man who has similar views to me. Sometimes crap is better glushed than stirred.
Marriage is NOT like family at all, in fact Scripture says it breaks family! A man shall cleave to his family as he makes a woman his flesh in marriage? Ah, I don't think so! Also, there's a time and a place for every purpose under Heaven. There's a time to embrace AND a time to refrsin from embracing. Christ made it VERY clear He came to divide and not unite families. Staying away from destructive people hatred? Wow, he even read Scripture to the contrary. Of course we're not to seek vengeance ourselves, but the throughout Scripture we often see men in the Holy Spirit asking God to take vengeance for them. While at times God corrects them (see the end of Jonah), God never deals with such desires as sin, only stupidity. The martyrs in Heaven in Rev are crying out for justice to God as the blood of Abel from Gen 4. Thus is the first QA where Guzik is way off. Perhaps the technical stuff frazzled him. Unlike the other 2 QA I have seen, which were SOLIDLY Scriptural, thus one is based on the opinions of the world.
Thank you for your zeal for righteousness and for a true interpretation of scripture. There is surely a disagreement here, but the pursuit of understanding and yearning to conform to God's will is well received in spite of the tone. Blessings in Jesus' name. -Enduring Word Team
Wear a football jersey to church??? Are you going to church to worship the Lord or your favorite football team? I think your Savior has earned your undivided attention for a moment, so please dress for the occasion. I'm pretty sure you won't be breaking out with the Bible during the game, but it's ok the other way around? This has nothing to do with partiality as mentioned in James 2, but more along the lines of Matthew 6:21...Where your treasures are, the desires of your heart are, also.
Thank you for your interesting and engaging presentation !
I love reading your Bible commentary. Thanks Pastor for being true to the Bible. God bless you. Love from Malaysia. Amen Hallelujah
Thanks!

Bible says; Obey the King
Ecclesiastes 8:1-9. HALLELUJAH 🙌
Yeah, but Augustine and Aquínas know better than Scripture, right? Crazy QA...
