Cochran gets hated on because he cheated. He did pregame alliances with everyone even tho cbs prohibited that. its an unfair advantage and that is the only way he wasn't voted out pre merge. Then he was just so bad that he stayed and got threats out and was the only respectable player at the end. the end.
Even then players have gone on record saying at most points those don't work he made plays which kept him in a less prominent position in the game where there was still bigger threats than him it's a way that other winners have done well such as Sarah from Game Changers neither were as prominent a threat as others like Phillip Malcolm Eddie or Andrea and in Sarah's case Cirie Brad Tai and Aubry. He played a great game in Caramoan so it's really a shame that he gets hated on for playing the game he loves in a way that if other players did would be loved
Phantom Spiritomb I’m pretty sure it’s because the fans are tired of Jeff Probst/CBS trying to shove him down our throats, similarly to Boston Rob. A comparison to Big Brother would be Paul Abrahamian. I can imagine it just gets irritating when the producers keep trying to tell you who to like.
People care about more than just strategy. Cochran came off as offputting and overly egoistic to a lot of people. Also I wouldn't say everyone loves Aubry, at least not anymore after Edge of Extinction

He was funny and witty….but also he came off as a bully, I was surprised by that….of all people, Cochran should have empathized with Erick…who was surrounded by strong players being a fan the first time he played…instead Cochran called him an “incompetent player” when he himself was outsmarted by Coach of all people
Guys I just realized something cool ok so u know how Parvati won Micronesia well her first season was season 13 and won survivor three seasons later which is the same with Cochran who played in survivor South Pacific and won three seasons later it’s just kinda cool

Alpha males rarely get to the end in survivor ever since Micronesia, almost solely because people don't want to sit at the end with them anymore There's nothing underdog about him during this game, as Sophie said in SoPa he has like the perfect personality to make it to the end. More importantly though, his tribe was basically set up with first boots in front of him by casting people who would gun for each other out of the gate like Phillip and Francesqua. So his weaknesses in group challenges was never exploited. And then 3 of the post merge challenges ended up being based around brains. you want a survivor underdog? It'd be Aubry. Started out of her depth emotionally, then found herself on the bottom of the numbers multiple times and having her allies medevac'd, and had to claw her way back to the top of the ladder and emotionally pull someone away from their alliance to avoid idol shenanigans.

He was asked, HES literally Jeff's favorite winner. But Cochran also works for CBS now, so I think he felt it would be a conflict of interest and I also think he was happy to end his survivor journey winning.
Lukáš Svoboda How was he a trash winner? 4 individual challenges, perfect social game, overall perfect game(unanimous jury vote and not a single vote cast against him the whole season), was a part of blindsides, etc. Sounds like a pretty damn good game to me lol

I think it's the idea he's so knowledgable about the game. He's a superfan, he's literally written academic work about the jury system, he has a strategic mind. Against a good cast he probably wouldn't do that well but for a physically underwhelming nerdy guy he overperforms expectations.

Everyone belongs somewhere and everyone views are different, so I won’t say you’re wrong but I disagree. He’s underrated and deserved the win.
