Add to the fact that these tanks most LIKELY NOT meet USA standards for tanks. At least on my Campbell Hausfeld air compressor, the tank is a certified, by the manufacturer. I wouldn't trust this tank at all unless its for lower pressure.
Don't give a $hit, if people over there get killed, but very much give a $hit, if import garbage compressor goes boom in my workshop. That's why no Chinesium machinery or any other import garbage ever finds it's way into my shop!
For ingenuity in making do with what they've got, 10/10 This workshop could not afford the safety equipment and processes we take for granted and even if they got it, they would need to hike their prices. That would drive away similarly cash-strapped customers. Kudos to these workmen for allowing their operation to be shown on the Net, warts and all.

Did I miss the bit where the pressure testing Tag was put on after the cylinder was pressure tested? I once went to a small workshop where a 10 CFM compressor had its tank rupture as it approached cut off pressure. Fortunately no one was in the the area at the time but the shockwave broke every window in a care nearby and the plaster and timber wall next to it had a very large hole through it. The compressor head hit the roof and punched a hole in it and the electric motor hit the car nearby and didted the door so the outer panel was touching the inner panel. There were bits of metal imbedded in walls and other wooden structures. If you were in that area of the shed then you were probably dead or critically injured.
I'm guessing you're from the UK but I'd expect it is similar: here in Canada you couldn't use a tank this size in a workplace environment. There are standards it has to be built to and it would have to be regularly inspected. In my province in Canada it could be no larger than 42.5 litres without regular inspection and proof it was built to the appropriate standards; and probably the other provinces are the same. Of course you're allowed to blow yourself up at home!

It amazes me that so much manual work takes place within these factories yet with no one seemingly willing to invest in a simple concrete slab to lift production up out of the dirt.
Always love the traditional garb with a baseball cap and running shoes. You drop one of those plates on that shoe and learn what severance pay really means.
it would of been interesting to see one of these tanks being pressure tested. see how good the secondhand steel and the unaccredited welding fairs up...but never any warranty as the purchaser would no doubts end up with embeded pieces of the tank so in no fit health to go back and complain.

Actually, years ago I worked in a factory, and the old-time welder (Jerry) I apprenticed with wore slippers. I always criticized him, as I was wearing steel-toed work boots. That was until the day I had a piece of slag drop onto the tongue of my boot, burn through, and land between two of my toes. I couldn't get the booth off fast enough, so I stuck my foot into the bucket of water Jerry was dropping parts into. Meanwhile Jerry is laughing his ass off! That's when he told me "that happens with a slipper, you just kick it off". Learned a valuable lesson that day.
