Researching for a script I’m writing and came across this. Was interested in finding a way for my two protagonists to meet during r&r and then later again in the US. Your wife is Australian, right? So happy for you! I wanted mine to be a young American girl there with her family, perhaps the daughter of a diplomat.

What a country and what great folks. I remember being told that I could not wear my uniform while flying back home in 1973 (San Diego to St. Paul) or from St. Paul to Oakland! Not the case in Australia, in any of the ports that we pulled into. We were greeted on the street and in many cases several pints made their way towards us, etc. Truly treated so well. These folks are a great gift to our nation, and I don't think very many folks appreciate how they have our backs and what they contribute to our shared security challenges.
