So to make is clear from when we packed at Alvin’s house, until the next day when I repacked the fish was still alive and it was already 3-4 pm. Which means he would have arrived alive in NY because the flight was supposed to land at 11 am 🤦🏻♂️… Rest In Peace big guy, see you in fish heaven 💔

Now that guy is using technology to his advantage and in one of the most smartest ways ever if I had a complex system like that most certainly would have a camera under there.
Well they honestly didn't know how that fish was, maybe it's age had a ton of play in it. I bet the stress, of chilling out in dark tub, then packed, and repacked was enough to give it a heart attack. I legit think age, stress is what did it.
That sucks so much can you claim your cost back from the flight as there fault that it died

I was right into aquariums in my teens and 20's. October of last year i became sick with (necrotizing fasciitis) also known as "flesh eating disease ". Your videos really helped me while I was at home recovering and inspired me to get some aquariums and fish. I now have a 180g, and 2 x 90g aquariums. I've have watched all of the videos you've made and will continue to watch the new ones. I'll keep checking your website for Red severums. Having a hard time finding them in Canada. My God that fish is huge man reminds me of the one that Ohio fish rescue has in their paku tank that thing is massive too man it's amazing seeing fish that big you can tell that fish was taken damn good care of

i sold two large personal pet triggerfish, on ebay. i quadruple bagged it and used compressed oxygen foam box everything. UPS stop scanning the packaged and they floated around in the sweltering florida heat for an extra day. Needless to say i understand slightly your situation. although i didnt fly somewhere and rent a truck LOL. dang that blows, awesome channel great content!

In New Jersey we hit the Asian markets for bait when we go to the shore.
Sorry to see this, Rod. But that fish was dead before you got to pack it. As soon as you raised the lid on that tote, it was too late.
Those totes from Home Depot are deadly to anything aquatic. I tested the same one for curing large pieces of driftwood. Cleaned it out, filled it, treated the water,, and added 6 goldfish which were dead in 1 hour. Cleaned it out, repeated the test, and looked in on fish in 10 mins. Fish were barely breathing and sitting still. Put them in fresh water but were dead in a few hours.
Any plastic containers have to be food safe rated or they have chemicals that are deadly mixed in to prevent mold and bacteria. Don't know how long he had it there, but by using that filter probably kept it from dying right away. But the buildup in the bloodstream was just a matter of time.
I've shipped them that size and 2 days is no problem. That the water was clear and the fish ridged with closed gills means it just shut down and died.
If you see something like that again, just turn and walk away. There is nothing you can do. And anyone needing to separate a fish in a tote, get a Sterilite container. Very cheap and I use them all the time, especially for holding large lungfish, and have never had a problem.

I'm so sorry. His owner, and you, did your best for him before he arrived at the airport, and it sucks that something happened out of your control (I know they can overbook planes, maybe they can also do that with the baggage), and he missed the flight.
Regardless why he didn't get on the first plane, it's sad that it wasn't enough that all those other helpful people did their best to try and get him to you.

Hey so I work for fedex express. I know we are a little more expensive then UPS but if you have the pickups come as late as they can they go out that night regardless. Sorry for your loss. I'm pretty sure it was that canned air. I've heard that they changed the formula to get around not having to have a hazmat sticker on the cans, so not much oxygen at all, pretty much just canned air.

Those bottles of " oxygen" aren't pure oxygen. It's just compressed air! That's what killed the fish. It suffocated.

The guy didn't really know how old he was.... maybe old age had something to do with it not surviving? Just couldn't take the stress. Seems you did everything you could.

I have 2 short body iridescent sharks that are that size and a very large African lung fish that need to be rescued.

If you ever have to do it again like that. Just leave the oxygen as is don't use a air mattress pump. Sucking out oxygen and chance of blowing it out. Didn't help with the flight issue.

The outcome was horrible but the effort and exspence y'all put in to try and rescue it without being furious about the money and upset that it didn't make it shows just how much you care more about the creature than any possible monetary gain. Love both y'alls channel, sorry she didn't make it.
