Really interesting video, thanks for posting! I'll probably do a mix of both just for some variety, but it's interesting to see. I feel like long term the changes might have been more apparent, but hard to tell.
Thanks for posting this interesting experiment. My YT Shorts have varied between two or three thousand views and a big fat nothing. Oddly enough, the shorts which I thought would be of no interest to anyone are the ones which perform the best; whereas the ones I think “they’ll love this!” get next to nothing. I do think my shorts have brought a handful of new subscribers to my UA-cam channel, but I’ve got no way of telling if they’ve helped my Twitch channel.
Thanks. My expectations were definitely a bit higher than the end result. I don't think I got my first view until a week or two later. Maybe it just takes more content than I fed it.
I don't use twitch, but I recently created a gaming channel to help algorithm find my main channel again. My now reaction channel is at 16.8k and my gaming channel which was new and started at 0. I started posting shorts as soon as I had gaming videos schedule. I also started using tiktok. I am getting more shorts engagement on my gaming channel than I am on tiktok. I post the same videos...but i get to jazz up the tiktok ones with their app. I noticed that hashtags on shorts are super important and uploading/scheduling a few hours before or after a new video post. It might just be that you uploaded shorts with no intended audience in mind. I wonder if you try it again using hashtags, would that produce a better outcome. Thanks for the interesting video!
It's worth a shot. I started doing more shorts on this channel with related tips and they at least seem to do better than most my full videos. I think that's how I will use Shorts for now. My TikToks definitely vary in engagement with a lot going semi-viral but that's also more to lead people to my Twitch channel as well.
Where do you put the hashtags? In the title or in the description? I’ve often wondered if they make any difference at all, because I just assumed people don’t search for hashtags.
youtube shorts dont do a damn thing for me lol. my first short did pretty good with like 700+...wasnt consistent with uploading them AT ALL, but when i made the next one? i think around 3 views. the one i put up yesterday? 0. idk man...youtube shorts doesnt seem like the move. tiktok definitely looks like the place to be for short form content.

good insight. wondered how the algorithm does with shorts. tried messing with the tab the other day and it had its moments of relevancy.
