Lots of fun Sarah! It was especially fun watching you guys tiptoe around problems in the "MBTI community." Of course there are tons of cases where people speak about it like it's just horoscopes 2.0, but a bunch of us just really want to make some kind of peace with how different we feel, and to that end I think what I may give a stab at is validating all the conversations people have surrounding MBTI with Big Five traits.
The Big Five traits are on a continuum, but it still works because, for example, people really high in trait openness/intellectual curiosity aren't very common, but it's not really a stretch to then imagine someone low in extraversion and fairly high in conscientiousness having most of their conceptual world already plotted out so thoroughly and so rigorously that as they hear people talk it's like a bunch of marbles filtering into their proper places in the framework, and then like a proper INFJ or INTJ they can very quickly demonstrate to everyone where the marbles went and why, and then boom, like magic we can see Ni.
It's also definitely a guilty pleasure watching you appear kind of vexed about INFPs, hahaha! I suppose the thing that makes this all a bit messier is there is a background discussion of how MBTI can be used as a sort of complicated manipulation, as though this was all just extremely clever marketing psychology where the audience relates deeply to X, Y, and Z, but then you sneak in A and B and make a sale, or, in some cases actually indoctrinate the person to be cautious about their shortcomings, etc. That said, it's so plain to see so much of this at play that to just trash it completely is clearly a mistake. I think part of the problem is when we compare Ni and Ne we get so, soooo far into the weeds, but when you compare, say, an INFP and an ISTJ, it's like the whole system explodes to life and animates perfectly in front of us. Anyway, that's my two cents.
