- Two great prog albums to explore, one more folky than the others, but both excellent in their own way

"Flute wheezing"....love it!
There is some wonderful prog coming out these days.
Thank you for keeping us up to date 😂❤
I will admit that your delivery rightfully imparts a certain gravitas to the subject al la St Bob. Love the posts.
Bomber?
Always on the lookout for new music to sus out.
The excellent Albion album is also available on Spotify. I was going to ask for your opinion on this album as I know you are a big Jethro Tull fan. I thought that you would appreciate it and so glad you did. Albion have recorded much more excellent music other than the ones on this debut album and Joe has recorded some outstanding metal covers of a few classical music pieces plus a couple of fine Jethro Tull covers. Albion and Joe's videos on UA-cam are definitely worth a watch.
That Albion album is available on Apple Music
Excellent and very thorough reviews, as are all of your reviews/commentaries....thank you ! I have never heard of either of these bands....but, I will give them a go !
I have been following Hat's Off Gentlemen It's Adequate for sometime now The Light of Ancient Mistakes is a wonderful album. Their last two albums, The Confidence Trick & Nostalgia for Infinity are also excellent.
Thanks :-)
I’ve been watching Joe Parishes career for some time now. He’s an extremely talented musician and his guitar interpretations of classical pieces are jaw dropping.
Not seeing a purchasing link for the Albion anywhere.
The Instrumental tracks and passages of Hat's off Gentlemen appeal to me but vocally I find them really lacking. The Albion album sounds pretty good from the little I've heard so far. Thanks Barry, good to hear about new music
Many thanks for your kind support
Thanks for this, always love finding new music.
Some albums that have been in constant rotation for me lately are the newest from Moon Safari, Ellesmere, The Twenty Committee, and Nospun.
All excellent! Check ‘em out
Love your Channel brian...quality! x
Hard to find because there is a band The Albion Band. Thanks for the link
Folkadelica ?.Just a sublime branch of English tradition l can't get enough of these days.Tim & Maddie do it justice on the 'Hey Days' double album from the 70's and lets not forget the Amazing Blondel ?
Bought the Albion CD a few days back and I really like it. The rock parts are soft of on or off totally with folk parts in between. Sound is great if you download the 24 bit 48 kHz version.
Thanks for the heads up, for me the voice is what makes prog rock and neither of these did it for me, which is a shame but I will keep a close on your reviews because I am struggling to find Prog Rock I want to hear. Quite like AirBag but sadly thats about as modern as I have got lol.
Just out of curiosity, have you heard the Prog band called Wobbler? If not, check out their latest album Dwellers Of The Deep.
Terrific band
@@classicalbum I had a feeling you'd know who they are. 😀👍
I found Wobbler through this channel! And now I've found Hats Off Gentlemen It's Adequate. This is such a great place to find music I have yet to discover on my own!
Thanks for the heads up, this is bloody awesome music!
Mate, you simply MUST do a video for "The Underfall Yard" by Big Big Train. It's by far the best prog album I've heard in a very long time with the musicans having impressive pedigrees.
please review Seventh Wonder, please
any chances of hearing some tidbits in these videos without getting a copyright strike?
FYI... 'Hat's Off Gentlemen It's Adequate' albums can be listened too freely and bought from, Bandcamp. (more of the money from purchases of cds and vinyl etc goes to the artists when buying from bandcamp) Enjoy. ;-)
"..cup of mead."
Albion Band ....... Early Richard Thompson fairport Era Stuff as well not bad!
Please correct me if I'm wrong
but not connected to the well known Albion band
Certainly not the Polish band
I really enjoyed Hats Off Gentlemen's new album on streaming but it's not available on vinyl! Sorry guys, no vinyl, no buy!
Thanks - unfortunately as a tiny independent band we can’t currently afford to put it out on vinyl. Our albums tend to be pretty long, so it would need to be a double album, which is pretty expensive. We are grateful for any plays, whether on Spotify, UA-cam, Bandcamp, CD etc. best wishes, Malcolm
I completely understand. I stream via Napster, who I believe pay the best rates to musicians but it is still not a lot. I got rid of my CD player years ago and went solely on to vinyl, which I have had for over 50 years as a growing collection.
As a big, classic, Tull fan, I was curious about this band and so listened to a track. Musically it was pretty good but I didn't take to the vocals which, although perfectly fine, didn't have the edge that Ian Anderson, Peter Gabriel ( even Collins) or Jon Anderson had. A lot to ask I know but the vocal seemed a little too smooth and mundane for me. To be fair I should listen to more but that was my initial impression.
Because of this vid I went to listen to HOIAG, although I have heard of them because they've been playing around North London for several years. I hadn't delved in because they 'appeared' far to twee and not 'committed ' to classic prog. This shows how important presentation can be. Any thanks to Captain Clickbait, doing his job, I have gone off to get an earful of HOIAG. Unfortunately although the whole project seems terrific it was too progged up Pet Shop Boys in my opinion. I did enjoy some guitar solos and some of the melodic lines but, again, the vocals were fairly weak and mundane. Nevertheless, a excellent effort but my first, fairly ignorant, impression was probably fairly close to my more concrete comprehension.
Anyway that's just me, listen to the albums and make up your own mind. What I would add is that there is so much terrific music around (old and new), one's music collection is often ridiculously vast and one doesn't have the time to listen to a small proportion of one's own music ( let alone read or watch DVD's etc) - that one does have to be far more selective about what one buys. Apologies for all the 'one's'.
Thanks for taking the time to try our music. Best wishes, Malcolm
Certainly not Ashley Hutchinson's band
or the Polish band
Joe Parrish recently left Tull. 🤷🏻♂️
Not a very original name for a band
Presumably it references Schumann’s remark on the young Chopin: “Hats off, gentlemen! A genius!”
I suggest you do a review of fellow Britt Robyn Hitchcock. Maybe "The Soft Boys"?
