Pretty much every sword move is 2 frames though. So it being only 32 frames total and having that range is crazy. For perspective Ike f-tilt is probably the closest swordies f-tilt when it comes to range & power and the space it covers, and it's 41 frames. But also Ridley f-tilt still reaches farther and does .5% more damage (than Ike) at the tip and that tip is generous.
Hi, Marss, great video! Your run at smashcon was exceptional as well! This may sadden many, but I was actually rooting for Dabuz in your winners set with him. But, other than that, I wish we could’ve seen more Rosalina gameplay today. Glad we got to see a Dabuz cameo, though. Thanks, Marss.
If you gave me a million years I don’t think I’d be able to accrue the deductive prowess needed to know you were rooting for Dabuz. You always keep ‘em guessing king 😤
Possibly a surprisingly good match-up is Incineroar/Olimar. Incineroar can just out camp you in a way by farming revenges thanks to the Pikmin latching into you. Then you do 60-80% off one move and die at 15%.
Ehh that’s debatable. If incin commits to camping with farming with revenge, olimar has two options, first, he can latch a pikmin, then preemptively call them off with whistle, baiting revenge and then punishing it, or, he can just straight up punish revenge as it’s activating, which is a little more risky, because he will get the damage boost, but still good. It is true, olimar dies early, but realistically even after incin gets revenge, how does he get in?
@@RedBookBag420nah he can do the olimar shield shimmy until he is in burst threat range and then olimar has like no options. He can't jump cause incin has crazy aerials, he is too slow to get quickly past him on the ground, and shield camping is obviously a no go.
As an olimar main, i thought everyone knew this. But this is also not olimar's worst matchup as it is still winnable and there are workarounds, I myself don't have a hard time as olimar also has fast arials and don't camp against incineroar, the problem is generally just trying to work around his strong moves. Just ñote that it is a bad matchup and I am not disagreeing with you, it's just that the ine against cloud is literally unwinnable for me most of the time if they abuse their tools right lmao
Revenge is so laggy and punishable. Pikmins don't give that much of revenge. Olimar can take away pikmins out of you. Olimar can never get in and revenge just dissapears.
As a Min Min main, the Jigglypuff matchup is an absolute nightmare. Most of what makes Min Min good doesn't really work and her weaknesses feel way worse.
Tbf I feel like most people at that point are aware that Jiggs sh*ts on Min Min so I would've probably included Corrin Min Min (probably a more debatable one tho)
@@RobbertRobbert12345 Yoshi isn't as bad as Jigglypuff for Min Min. Jigglypuff can easily edgeguard Min Min, and do the thing where she just pushes you away from the ledge with multiple attacks, and Min Min can't really do much about that. Yoshi isn't that bad in that regard. And Yoshi's neutral isn't as bad for Min Min as Jigglypuff's.
Beyond Olimar, Hero's Bounce plays a major equalizer role in two other notable matchups off the top of my head. One is _[heavenly choir]_ Steve: minecart, down-tilt, down-smash, anvil all get reflected; because of this, Steve players often consider it slight-losing. The other is Mega Man; Bounce invalidates pretty much half of jump-and-shoot-man's whole kit for extended periods of time.
Also because letting Hero get buffs and recover MPs is extremely risky, just as it is for letting Steve get diamond. Steve isn't built to run after you, you're supposed to do it during the match so their strategy is similar in that regard. Also Hero is a good zoner with disjoints and that is bad for Steve.
the hero - MM matchup feels like such an uphill battle for me, best i can hope for is that i can interrupt menu the thousands of times Hero fishes for bounce
Every top Falcon and every top Snake actually agree that Snake slightly wins the match up. Fatality actually has a losing record against every top Snake iirc, and he's good at the match up. Also idk what Marss is talking about when he says Falcon has a really good OoS game, he has 1 reliable option OoS and it's frame 14. There's nothing special about his dash grab either, I think he's confusing it with his Sm4sh teleport grab.
Definitely agreed, as a falcon player Snake can be a very fun and interactive matchup until you’re offstage eating rockets on repeat. There is a fair amount of counterplay and interesting back-and-forth in neutral, but falcon has to work for it and doesn’t have the range or zone control that snake brings to the table. He eats damage better than most characters and doesn’t mind the typical snake trades as much as most of the cast, but working your way into brawling range against a similarly skilled snake feels like solving a puzzle every time you want to get a good hit in
As a Puff main, I've been trying to tell people that Puff wins the matchup against Min Min for so long, but nobody seems to understand. I feel so validated rn 😂
Min Min just seems dog shit in general against characters that can stay in the air for a long time and then suddenly be in her face. I generally consider her to be a better version of Belmont's except for that one attribute where they can just up-b characters like Jiggs and Meta Knight for free if there are platforms to make it safe.
Metaknight is also suprisingly good against Min min. I encourage people to watch Abadango vs Protobanham on third game. Min min doesn't stand a chance! All those small floaty multiple jump chars can approach min min at a diagonal angle. min min has a hard time combating this angle.
Lolll, the thumbnail, so considerate of Falcon to help Snake out with his back problems. Accelerated aging definitely puts some strain on the vertebrae!
You said Puff > Min Min and at first i was like "NAH". But then i thought about it and realized Puff cleanly fits into Min Min's blindspots and gimps her literally for free. I've put up bigger fights recovering with Ganon vs Puff than Min Min can, apparently.
I think a "top 5 most hype/fun to play/watch matchup" could be cool too. Watching your match against Light was really fun to see while there were a few Steve match ups at SSC that was frustrating to watch😅
mii brawler also does really well vs snake :] doing suplex when a grenade explodes is literally just a free combo, final hit of thrupper breaks snake up b armor, and shotput is very very good at disrupting snake neutral
@@thefabuloussporcu317 the neutral actually favors Peach. She gets the hit with turnips or approaching grounded usually. D3's ledge trapping is his only saving grace in the matchup, and his only saving grace as a character really. Just cause Peach is way harder doesn't mean she loses because of it.
Hero olimar is absolute suffering for me, i literally have to just wait out bounce, not olimar's worst matchup but it just sucks that 4 moves are taken away from me just because hero pushed one button :(
Min Min makes every zoner's life hell for the same reason. She's the anti zoner-zoner like Hero. She just shoots one projectile down and then hits you with the other arm. Playing a DLC zoner just means you get to be a better camper than other zoners lmao
Jigglypuff Min Min seemed bad for MinMin to me for a while, it kind of makes sense because of how much mobility that Puff has compared to Min Min, and how easily you can edgeguard her. Also someone has to approach eventually, but I feel that Puff can just play very defensive and wait for openings and get really good advantage state off of them. I tend to play a tad more grounded in the MU and use down throw because the throw invincibility is long enough to be unaffected by Ptooie.
