Thank God, an engine shop that isn't dark, dirty, messy and oily...lots of light, bright white workbenches...no shit scattered everywhere...the utter envy of mechanics everywhere. In my 24+ years, I never did have such a shop...Kudos....I guess such a thing does exist!
One of my Fav channels. I had a SVX with an EG33 that I was going to rebuild and use for a Vanagon swap... This series has me dreaming of what that Engine could have been - Love Subi-Performance and his engine-porn.
There is something so right about a boxer engine. Having a six cylinder one, with all the balance that brings, makes it even more special

One can always look at a guys workshop and how clean and tidy he keeps it and take that as a reflection of the quality of his workmanship. This guys is clean and well organised so I bet his workmanship is top notch as can be seen by this build. Well done
After watching this I'm motivated to go back to my garage and continue my STI tear down for my outback swap.

Would the measured ring gap change if you were to measure it with a torque plate on..?

That is a very smart tool to install that piston bolt clip for cylinder 3 and 4. But how did you remove it from the beginning when you took the engine apart?
I think he just pulls the block half up and off the pistons on disassembly.
how do you get the Gudgeon pins out in the first place? is it ring clip one side and circlip on the other?

You need a crank balancing machine!! You have those beautiful 3 and 5 machines, why not balance the crankshafts as well. Veicomer does the best CNC porting and head work I've ever seen. Take a look at his channel. You have really strict regulations there so CNC porting and cams will get you another 20% while looking rather stock 👍🏼👍🏼
Did you use Subaru cylinder bolts, or did you find another supplier. I'm guessing ARP for the head studs?
Which piston rings you can recommend for ez36d?

Hey, Andi, I was waiting to see how you got that middle wrist pin clip put in place. I still don't see how you did it. Ist es einfach ein Zaubertrick?
EDIT: Aha! I went back to 4:33 and saw the trick: you use a special long-necked wrist pin circlip insertion tool. I was hoping you had a clever miracle tool to perform this task. I was not disappointed. Is this a factory tool or is it custom made?
EDIT #2: I'm wondering (along with many other commenters) how you pull that circlip when you break the engine down. Well?

Ahh, Montage eines Boxers ist also etwas aufwändiger, weil man die Pleuelstange durch dieses Loch montieren muss. Interessant.

So what has become of this engine? What car did it go into and how much power does it make? Would love to see a conclusion of this build.
To think of all those years I had to adjust the ring gap by hand wirh a little file.
Because you do not use your brain.
We did that way because we did not have all the fancy toys that are available today. It takes just as many brains if not more to do it with a file than to chuck it up and let a machine do your work.
I did this with a little file as well. Since I wasn't doing it for a living like Andi, it worked just as well and gave the same precise results, just takes longer. Arguably more satisfying. The real skill is your touch with the feeler gauges!

Wäre es möglich, ein Video über einen kompletten Aufbau eines ej25 sti-Motors mit allen Drehmomentmessungen für den gesamten langen Block zu sehen? Ich verstehe, dass es eine Verschwendung Ihrer Zeit sein kann, aber es würde sehr geschätzt werden. Vielen Dank für all deine Videos und für dein Engagement.

Im Prinzip dickes Öl. Bei den Bolzen damit die Gewindefressen und bei den Hauptlagern damit sie geschmiert sind bis der Öldruck aufgebaut ist

Klasse Arbeit, ich schaue die Videos sehr gerne. Aber irgendwie nicht so relaxed wie ich erwartet hatte. Und bei 9:43 wird nicht jede Schraube einzeln eingepinselt....das ist so ungewohnt :D

2 mistakes : First Do not use motor oil on rings and pistons. wd40 or penetrating oil as it flashes off at a much lower temperature to prevent glazing. Second you did not lubricate the undersides of the bolt heads possibly resulting in a false torque reading. CAT is shaking his head.
