Urine chloride concentration is less than 20mEq/L( not more than 20) is chloride responsive metabolic alkalosis.

Excellent video! You explained everything clearly! However, I have one question: you said that Hypokalemia triggers metabolic alkalosis by 2 mechanisms which are of course correct. I read in my book that there's also a third mechanism: "hypokalemia promotes HCO3- reabsorption at the level of proximal convoluted tubule". Is that correct? And if yes, why does this happen?
I'm having my pathophysiology exam in a few days and I would really appreciate it if you could help me with is!
    Thank you in advance!

Thanks for your feedback! To answer your question, I believe the mechanism is that hypokalemia causes more hydrogen ion secretion to the tubular lumen, and therefore, more bicarbonate reabsorption afterwards from the tubular lumen.
However, I believe there are even more mechanisms on how hypokalemia causes and maintains metabolic alakalosis. There are five mentioned in this article in Medscape: emedicine.medscape.com/article/243160-overview#a5

So in hyperaldosteronism treated with spironolactone would that correct the Metabolic Alkalosis

Yes because it will block aldosterone receptor then decrease k and H loss which r the causes of metabolic alkalosis in this case

So if my carbon dioxide is elevated does that mean I have metabolic alkalosis

also, would you consider the continuous (i.e every day for 3 years) in-take of fresh lime tea as alkali administration? i am asking because lime is also a citric acid..
