    I have had a Stir Crazy for over 15 years & its still working just fine. I never thought of using coconut oil or a solid in place of the vegetable oil I normally use. Interesting and a fun video. Thank you!

      Coconut oil is much healthier than veg or even canola oil.

    Stir Crazy. Have had both, both bought from Target. The Air Crazy spits unpopped kernels everywhere and the unit broke after a week of using, and difficult to clean. Replaced the Air Crazy with Stir Crazy and it is marvelous. Easy to use, easy to clean.

    I totally agree about microwave popcorn. I stopped buying that a long time ago. We use an air popper and then add real butter to it in the bowl. My daughter loves popcorn and eats it a lot :) Thanks for showing this.

    Great video. You had stated in your Q&A video that pizza should be a food group. Well, I am one who thinks POPCORN should be its own food group. I love it!! I grew up loving it with my mom making it often. I've had many poppers over the years: a microwave popper (which isn't so good, as the popcorn often gets burned); a Stir Crazy (I still have this one); a stove top popper (this one makes tasty popcorn but your arm gets tired from turning the crank); and a Presto Air Popper. I also have made popcorn in the microwave using a paper bag, which is good if you're in a pinch. My favorite, however, is the air popper. I like Jolly Time White popcorn. (It looked like you were using yellow popcorn in your video?). I find white popcorn to be far less "hully" than yellow popcorn, even if it's not as flully. I also melt my butter in the microwave & I use Morton Popcorn Salt. Yum yum!

    We have had both an air popper and a stir crazy. We found the air popper gave a very stale taste and the stir crazy tasted more fresh. The one downfall we found with the stir crazy was if you melted the butter on the top (like you're supposed to) when you flipped it over we found it leaked butter on our pants...we just transfer it to another bowl.

    I just came across this video. I really wished you would've showed how you used your coconut oil because you said to melt it before you pop your popcorn so I wanted to see if you did melt this before. Also you had a good tip about the butter. I just purchased a Presto popcorn popper that looks like your round Stir Krazy popcorn popper and I can't get the butter to melt fast. My Presto takes a total of a little over 6 minutes total and the butter doesn't melt fast enough. I'm going to have to tinker with this popper until I can get that buttery salty taste I like with my popcorn.

    Thank You so very much for you video of the, 'Air Crazy West Blend', hot air popcorn popper!! We actually bought one the other day, and today, the kids and I were ready for fun with the new popper!! And when we opened the box and took everything out, but there were NO instructions or "Tasty Recipes" inside.... My kids were so bummed because I like to read instructions even when the item seems to be very self-explanatory (which this one actually did). I mean, you never know! I certainly don't want to break or damage it and then not be able to return it because I thought I knew it all. Anyways, we THANK-YOU very much!!
    With Gratitude:
    Jessica, William, Jade, and Jacob too!!!
    P.S. Cute Baby Girl!!!! but we do really need to go...we have popcorn to pop!!

    I gave up microwave popcorn over cost and chemicals concerns. I'd suggest that the air popper is great because no cooking oil is needed. Also cleanup is almost nothing. Also, I bet those stir crazy units have cheap Teflon on them. :-(. I'm using a made-in-USA early 1970s west bend air popper that I unearthed while cleaning out my dad's house. It was never used!
    If kernels don't pop, I throw em back in. Likewise you can keep adding 1/2 cups of corn to make huge amounts. You can turn on the popper a bit earlier than you pour the corn if heating your butter is important.
    Btw, I stopped using butter for flavor and am having great results w extra virgin olive oil. I still love salt though!

    great review. i never knew they made a stir crazy. i have the air crazy and its ok if youre making a ton of popcorn but if not it'll blow the kernels out if you dont pour enough in. pretty annoying. for personal size and ease of use ill just stick with the microwave bags. if i ever need something for making cheaper family size portions, either generation of stir crazy seems like the ideal machine.

  • @miloshka101
    @miloshka101 8 років тому +2

    For the new stir crazy, did you use a whole cup of popcorn to get that amount or did you use less? I just bought mine at a thrift store and it doesn't come with directions plus I've never used a popcorn maker like this (I've always used air pop). But other then that, thanks! This helped out so much 👍🏼👍🏼
