  • The Great Barrier Reef is suffering one of the worst coral bleaching events ever - its fifth in eight years -- and scientists fear it might not be able to recover. Australian Museum's Lizard Island Research Station Director Anne Hoggett has lived on the reef for over 30 years, studying its changes amid increased heat stress on the reef. Lizard Island, a small tropical slice of paradise 270 kilometres north of Cairns, is among the worst bleached areas. The island hosts a research centre where scientists from around the world study Australia’s unique marine ecosystem.

And to think that just this time last year The Great Barrier Reef had the highest level of coral cover since records began! I'll be interested to see what Peter Ridd has to say about this as I prefer to get my information from genuine experts!

Can you inform and show the coral reefs that were 'bleaching' about 3-5 years ago?

LOL. Bleaching is a cyclical event. Climate hysteria yet again.

Have a look at effluent from copper mines in PNG. 2 one metre diameter pipes straight into sea.

Corals evolved back about 250 million years ago when CO2 was about 1000 times more prevalent in the atmosphere. Corals use CO2 to grow. If corals are sick it is possibly due to the present low level of CO2 in geological terms.

You need to talk to Dr Peter Ridd, he’s will put you straight on the perfectly normal cycling of bleaching and recovery. The barrier reef is in rude health, it’s nothing to do with ‘climate emergencies.’
