No matter how many times I watch this video I still click on it every time it comes up as a recommended video! Just amazing! Thanks for putting it together.
Beautiful dogs. I can't believe that someone on here replied to all of the comments saying that whippets are ugly. Just ignore it. No animal of any kind is ugly, no matter what. The only things ugly are the people saying that this is ugly. I'm sorry if others ruined the video for you. No animal is ever ugly. All animals are beautiful in their own way.
WOW - you really captured the beauty of Whippets racing, very dramatic and loved the music as well. Really inspired me since I now have a new camera and have just taken my first race videos. Just incredible!!!! I'm sure I will watch this another 1000 times in the next week :)
It's beautiful music. You couldn't have made a better musical choice. I come back here frequently as this video is one of my absolute favorites. This video so clearly shows the beauty with which these animal moves. For the past 15 years, I have had Italian Greyhounds as pets. Of the Greyhounds, I think the Whippets and the IG's share more of the same qualities than that of their larger counterpart. Thanks again for the beautiful post. Your efforts are most appreciated.
This is not beautiful. The dogs are useless, ugly, dumb, head bobbers, howlers, crazy ugly animals that cheetahs are not. These dogs look like something out of a horor movie
This video is simply stunning. It demonstrates so clearly, how they are able to reach the speeds they do. They are absolutely beautiful to watch. The "Double Suspension Gallop". At no time does a dog have a front and back foot touching the ground at the same time while running. It's either both front or both back feet. They go from bending their spines in half and in the very next step, they are at full extension. Look how far forward they bring those back feet. 3:20 - 4:05 great shots
You must not own a whippet Muse Fox! These dogs are doing what they LOVE to do. The muzzles protect the lure from getting torn up at the end, or an accidental bite to another dog (as they are both trying to eat the lure). They are not stressed or angry. Sighthounds in motion are a wonderful thing to witness. Most people I know who own whippets take them racing or lure coursing as the dogs love it so much (but they are first and foremost beloved family pets and bed sharers).
In the last race the #4 dog is my Slim Shady. He was the top veteran at the natls :-). The #2 dog looks like a Jitterbug pup. This is just an amazing video!
Far from. All dogs deserve happy life's expect for sighthounds which shouldn't exist. If cheethas go extinct these dogs will be the fastest land animal on Earth, bobbing their heads and howling like the stupid they are. If cheetahs go extinct then we will have to kill all these dogs and that will be that
Along with hi score Veteran Slim Shady in that last race was my little Ocean in the #4 jacket coming in as 4th place Veteran. Nice race for the oldsters and incredible video.
I love this video. It shows the true beauty of these animals. My God, the extension they get is as if they almost fly when they come off their hind legs. Beautiful indeed.
Yes they are. They are smaller than the full size greyhounds and below the Whippets, are Italian Greyhounds that are the smallest of the Greyhounds. I have 2 Italian Greyhounds and they too, can run like the wind.
@Tyvo1 Shot with a Phantom HD Gold. Just kidding. I *WISH* I had a Phantom. This was shot with a Casio EX-F1. The quality is poor, but it's only $1000 versus roughly $50,000-$100,000 for a truly "pro" unit.
There not beautiful because they are domestic dogs who bob their head up and down when the run unlike cheetahs. Plus these dogs howl and cheetahs can't the dogs can't purr cheetahs can. Whippets are more special than me and don't deserve life.
This is so not stunning. Who has been aware of the fact that whippets can howl. Cheetahs head doesn't Bob up and down like that. you know how I feel about howling.
Lorin, would it be possible for the American Whippet Club to use this video in our Judges Education seminars? I hope you get this message, this video is amazing!
Whippets basically look exactly like grey hounds only are about half the size. It's easier to see the difference when you see them standing next to each other.
I'd say the Italian Grey Hound is about half the Grey hounds size. Whippets are a little taller then a hunting dog so its more like 3 quarters the size of the Grey Hound but that is just my guess.
Skylarkien Whippet size is usually 18" to 22” at the shoulder. Greyhounds are usually 27” to 30” at the shoulder. IGs tend to be around 13” to 15” at the shoulder
@@zeaferjones1404 Italian Greyhounds are quite small. Not even close to the size of a Greyhound. I've had 3 of them. Even at their small size, they can run like the wind. And sighthounds is a perfect description for these dogs. I could drill a ball at my Iggy, and he never missed it. He loved it.
I saw it too. Whippets are cool dogs! However, they are couch potatoes. I was thinking about adopting one from pet finder but I don't want a dog who will just lay there all day but I don't want a dog who is too hyper and bouncy. But these are beautiful dogs. Stunning. They picked the right music!
@dutchnativeprincess For some reason UA-cam won't let me include a link to the music here in the comments, but the description below the video includes a link to the iTunes page for the music.
I know what you mean, but what you're seeing here is not actually repeated scenes, it's different angles. Some of the differences are subtle, but they're included on purpose -- a little higher, a little lower, more to the front, more to the rear, some static, some panning or following. Plus we wanted to make sure we included at least one shot of every dog at the event, and there were a lot of them!
Yes they love to run and maybe it's beautiful but for the dogs it's stressful and there's always a vet because they don't feel good(it's often in summer I don't know why). And they are so stressed and angry that they need to wear muzzles. Sorry but I don't know if I agree to this, however I just love whippets and greyhounds. I just wanted to say what I think about this, to react.
Look at the date. When this was shot we didn't have slo-mo cameras in our phones like we do now. The Casio was as good as we could get, short of a $100K Phantom.
These dogs are so ugly. Like for real, the way the bob their heads. Cheetahs never do that. They're way calmer and better than those stupid whippets. Plus these dogs howl and you know how I feel about howling.

Brilliant footage! Absolutely stunning!
I hate these dogs and they are not stunning but ugly as heck I hate them. Cheetah are way better
absolutely stunning video work.....a pleasure to watch, thanks for posting it.
I love how they just spring into action like that. Wow. Absolutely stunning.

Poetry in motion and the music fits it perfectly.
Now that is a beautiful video. Beautiful hounds--beautiful scenery

Amy Shepherd I have a whippet puppy called Gary also known as GAZZA
Amy Shepherd depends on the owners

Well I think he did an amazing job. All of them did!
There goes my little Ribsy, #5 at 3:45! So proud... Won a heat at his very first Nationals!
He looks super cute.
He’s dead now though
Rip Ribsy
Incredible footage . Looks like something Animal Planet would use. Now I want SloMo footage of my Whippets. LOL
I REALLY like this!!! Loren did you do this? I didn't see you shooting that day. You are truly a talent!!! Great music choice also!
OUTSTANDING!

At times they have all 4 legs in the air. It looks like they are flying! Amazing! Great filming.
@@annelyons7038 , move on, sourpuss. You obviously do not share your life with one of these fantastic athletes.

I know right. Beautiful dogs. All sighthounds run like this. My dog runs fast too. But not like this.
I truly agree. When they run, that double suspension gallop kicks in and it makes them look like they are flying.
Great Video! Fun Weekend, Would love to see a 720p version if there is one available

MissDistarr60 my whippet puppy does ZOMMIES in the back yard
@AbbyIsMyWeim
Whippets LOVE running. It's what they were bred for and built to do. Specifically, my whippet loves chasing. Rabbits, especially. :D
You should see how cute they are when they are puppies!
Oops I meant Ocean in the #3 jacket. Slim was #4.
@Tyvo1 Sorry, no HD. Slightly less than SD is the best resolution available on that camera in high-speed mode (300 frames per second).
@Tyvo1 Shot with a Phantom HD Gold.

Anne Lyons, What does howling have to do with this? Whippets AND cheetahs are both stunning.
Anne Lyons that's not nice. Both animals are stunning. BTW what does howling have to do with whippet racing?

True, I feel the same way after going through research on almost every breed out there!
Why does the music sound so sad
wow....yeah i see it now... the double suspension gallop........thanks for pointing it out ....whippets rule!

That's my Lola in the 3 blanket in the final sequence. Rosmor's Lolapalooza.
She did a great job.
the cheetah never moves its head up and down
Exactly. Cheetahs are way better than these stupid dogs
They do
They Look so beautyful When they Run in slowmo-3 AND The dogs Love Run so it isnt Animal Abuse
Not at all. The people who did this looked like they treated the whippets nicely. That's a good thing.
Oh for cryin out loud. Maybe I can get it right the 3rd time. Ocean in the #5 jacket. Sheesh!

No. Whippets are smaller than greyhounds and their colors are slightly different. But they are still sighthounds, just like greyhounds are.
